  1. ? Really Ryan? I think a 5th rounder and a 7th rounder is pretty steep for a career backup. I think the Bills did better with Kolb by far. JMO. Hasn't Kolb accomplished more in his career and shown more than McCoy?
  2. I thought they might try to play coy with Nassib. Not that it would have fooled anyone. It is interesting that the report implies that the Bills will not be working out Tyler Wilson, Matt Scott, Mike Glennon, and Zach Dysert.
  3. http://www.wgr550.co...Nassib/15935566 Mods, merge at your discretion. According to a league source, the Bills will hold a private workout with Syracuse's Ryan Nassib. Thus far, the team has conducted four private workouts with draft-eligible quarterbacks. West Virginia's Geno Smith, Florida State's E.J. Manuel, Oklahoma's Landry Jones and USC's Matt Barkley are the players the Bills' brass have already seen. The Bills will also work out Tennessee's Tyler Bray. The Nassib and Bray private workouts will likely conclude the Bills tour of the top college quarterbacks. And several of you were wondering about this earlier today: None of the private workouts count as an official pre-draft visit with the Bills. Each team is allowed 30 pre-draft visits to their own facilities. Private workouts are often conducted at the player's school or wherever he is training before the draft. I thought I'd heard that the Bills were gonna workout Matt Scott. Was I imagining this? edit: And if this report is true, then the Bills will not be working out Zach Dysert, Mike Glennon, or Tyler Wilson.
  4. Glenn's combine numbers were historically excellent, probably in the 95th percentile. His film against LSU in the SEC Championship Game was outstanding, stoning Mingo and Montgomery. I saw video of Glenn diving to take out blitzing slot cornerbacks on more than one occasion. Glenn was hampered by a high ankle sprain most of last year so I think very few people here appreciate what a talent he is. Every time someone talks to a Bills player about offensive tackle they always say something along the lines of "we're all set at tackle." I agree that Glenn can be a multiple Pro Bowler. Meanwhile the Lions are wondering where to play Reilly Reiff. Their longtime left tackle Jeff Backus retired and they're publicly not sure if they want Reiff at LT, RT or LG. This is according to their head coach Jim Schwartz. With regard to the Stanford tackle that others here liked more than Glenn, we'll see how good he is this year with the departure of Jake Long.
  5. It's kinda like saying "you guys go first, we'll be right behind you."
  6. The thing that bothers me about TJ is just the way he looked. He looks like a real finesse guy, kinda like a poor man's Peerless Price. I'm not writing him off but he needs to really step up his game. I'm worried that he's not up to the physicality of the NFL and I don't think he plays to his timed speed either. I seem to recall he had a lot of fumbles in college as well. I was disappointed in the pick. Hope he can redeem himself.
  7. I guessed him at 5'8" and 210 but then I saw that he's 5'5.75" and 180 and he ran the 40 in 4.80. Those are hard measurables to get drafted with though the video looks real good.
  8. I agree. While McCoy seems well-suited to the role of chief clipboard holder it always seems really odd to me when a backup QB has totally different competencies from the starter. If Kaep goes down, the playcalling will have to be pretty different I would think.
  9. Wood and Levitre were drafted when Russ Brandon was the Bills de facto GM.
  10. And of course he was the Oilers head coach when we defeated them in the Greatest Comeback in NFL History.
  11. This tweet will have zero bearing on how NFL teams view Nick Barnett, IMO. His performance is 90% of the equation. His character is 10% of the equation. This joke is about .25% of his character. No team would make a decision on a player based on a harmless joke.
  12. It hasn't been mentioned yet so it needs to be mentioned. Nolan Nawrocki was criticized for doing a hatchet job on Cam Newton after never speaking to Newton but consider a few things: 1) Nawrocki doesn't typically talk to the players. He talks to scouts and personnel guys. Think about that for a second… 2) The jury is still out on Cam Newton. He's show flashes of greatness and also moments that support the criticisms of him. 3) Nawrocki's overall track record is as good as anyone's and he's long had an outstanding reputation for his player analysis. It's a bit silly that people are viewing this issue in black and white terms (double entendre intended).
  13. Ryan Mathews, Michael Pittman, and former Bills bust Dwayne Wright are some of the running backs from that school.
  14. And that contract, unless it's been renegotiated is per Rotoworld: 3/18/2012: Signed a three-year, $19.5 million contract. The deal contains $10 million guaranteed -- a $6 million signing bonus, Flynn's 2012 base salary, and $2 million of his second-year salary. Another $5 million is available through escalators. An additional $2 million worth of incentives is available, but is "unlikely to be earned." 2013: $6.5 million, 2014: $5 million, 2015: Free Agent
  15. Can you imagine what a sense of relief Mario must be feeling right now? I'm very happy for the guy that he doesn't have to live with all the rumors and uncertainty anymore. It must have been a living hell.
  16. Last year they were saying, "We want you to help us LEAD THE CHARGE."
  17. Well between some of our best posters wanting to take him at #8 and a few anonymous scouts saying that he's a second rounder at best, I'll reiterate my opinion that Barkley does everything very well. His pocket awareness is awesome, his instincts for the game are impeccable, he has awesome ball placement, he's completely developed and polished. But the lack of zip on his intermediate throws was obvious from the 11 games I watched from the 2011 season. And his propensity to throw 50% of his throws inside of 5 yards from the line of scrimmage is very telling IMO.
  18. Great post, Cash. So what LL Phoenix said is somewhat true although the contract for Tannehill last year was in the $12 million range, not the $15-20 million range. Nevertheless I was wrong because I didn't know the contracts of the first 16 first rounders was guaranteed so I mistakenly equated the signing bonus ($7.653 million) with the guaranteed money when in fact the entire contract is guaranteed. Yeah, I wonder how close Jacksonville was to drafting a QB last year and I wonder how tempted Cleveland will be this year.
  19. If it hasn't already been confirmed by someone else, yes the workout is apparently in Los Angeles: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/30/add-matt-barkley-to-the-bills-workout-list/ The Bills will travel to Los Angeles on Monday to work Barkley out, and will also work out former USC wide receiver Robert Woods.
  20. To me it's alarming either way. Here's why. 1) He understands his limitations and checks down OR 2) His coaches understand his limitations and designed an offense that avoided his weaknesses. Now actually when Barkley does throw downfield, he does so with conviction and confidence (at least from the 11 games I watched from 2011) so I don't think it's him being trentative. But it could be that the coaches wanted to play to his non-weaknesses.
  21. You lost me at your handle. Welcome to the board, (I guess).
  22. You guys gotta straighten your shyt out. His first name is Chas.
  23. I agree that in every way other than arm strength, Barkley is virtually already an NFL quarterback. He's as polished a product as I ever remember seeing, right up there with Andrew Luck. His arm IMO is not as strong as Hasselbeck's and considerably weaker than Schaub's. Again, JMO. At some point that becomes an issue in a league which is much quicker and faster than the NCAA. Also, how do you feel about the audit which showed that 50% of his throws were within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage and 25% were actually behind the line of scrimmage. One could easily make the argument that this guy is the ultimate dink and dunker. Finally plenty of scouts and scouting types have expressed concern about his arm strength. I believe Scott Pioli recently expressed concerns about Barkley's arm (funny that he traded for Matt Cassel).
