Thigpen as Backup QB in Seattle?
San Jose Bills Fan replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's funny. Everyone's been talking about how great San Francisco and Seattle are (they are) and the big moves they've made this offseason (they have). Now both teams have another thing in common… their seasons could go down the tubes if their starting QBs get injured. Colt McCoy and Tyler Thigpen? Wow. I realize that Thigpen hasn't happened yet but still, I don't even consider the guy to be employable. He's a 3rd stringer at best. -
E.J. Manuel - QB - Florida State
San Jose Bills Fan replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
People here like to discuss their opinions. People who have differing opinions are encouraged to debate them. But name calling and acting like a child is not a good way to act around here. "Blow the guy with the most posts?" "This board is all (*^*&%^$^#homers?" Manuel's not even a Buffalo Bill, why would you call anyone who likes him a homer? Sounds like it's past your bedtime. Why don't you get a good night's rest and we'll try again tomorrow. -
E.J. Manuel - QB - Florida State
San Jose Bills Fan replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't. I don't usually read scouting reports so I can't address whatever things the presumably scout-informed media is saying about EJ. I mentioned earlier that I have only watched 4 games from this season, a week 3 blowout of Wake Forest (a team however which had in recent years given Florida State a lot of trouble), a week 5 win at Southern Florida, a week 4 win over #10 Clemson which ended 49-37 (both Manuel and Taj Boyd were masterful and Manuel led the Seminoles back from a 14 point second half deficit), and their bowl win over #16 Northern Illinois. As far as I can tell from looking at game recaps, Manuel only had one bad game this year, the loss at North Carolina State. Seminoles fans on our board could shed more light on Manuel's shortcomings. As with all the QBs I've watched except Matt Barkley, I focused only on their 2012 games. I feel like the 2011 games (when all of them were a year younger and less developed) are not that relevant. I watched Barkley's 2011 games because I wanted to see what he looked like at his best. You've just made a lot of people happy. I guess you don't like the times I've disagreed with your opinions (while ignoring the times I've agreed with your opinions). But please don't let me talk you into staying. By all means, feel free to leave. -

The other takeaway from SF and SEA is you don't always get your franchise quarterback in the top of the first round. -

What kind of acid? The real kind of the kind with tons of speed in it? Definitely the real kind. -
Bills sign UFA DT Alan Branch to 1 year deal
San Jose Bills Fan replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What would the cap hit be if we cut Branch today? You have to take that into consideration Fluff. It might be better to just deal with his attitude for a season and then let him walk in 2014. -
Chuck Fairbanks dies

One of numerous articles which discuss the Fairbanks-Bullough (yes, THAT Bullough) 3-4 Defense: http://www.milehighreport.com/2008/5/7/481970/mhr-university-modern-3-4 -
Like Jack Pardee, another very significant contributor to football. Like Jack Pardee, he died of cancer in his 70s. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/04/02/former-patriots-coach-chuck-fairbanks-dies/

Marrone Changes Practice Facility

Yep. Also the plays in the playbook are linked to numerous videos of that play with different route options. Players can jot notes on the margins. I think the number of teams still using a traditional playbook must be very few at this point. -

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/04/02/fred-davis-gets-2-5-million-for-one-more-year-with-redskins/ PFT has the terms: Per a source with knowledge of the contract, Davis will earn $2.5 million for one more year with the team, in the form of a non-guaranteed $1 million base salary and a $1.5 million signing bonus. -

It's between the uprights? It looked to me like it was just right of the right upright. I guess I'm permanently damaged. Not sure if you were kidding or not but if not, there's been quite a few articles about this. To access the iPad the player has to sign in using a password. To use the iPad to access the Bills' servers, there is another username/password hoop. And when the iPad has been reported lost or stolen, the IT department can simply wipe it clean of contents. -
You mean Colt McCoy versus Tyler Thigpen?

E.J. Manuel - QB - Florida State

You're wrong. With Matt Barkley the lone exception, Manuel played more snaps in a pro-style offense than any QB in this draft. When he was a freshman, Christian Ponder was injured and the Seminoles were in danger of having a losing record for the first time ever in the Bobby Bowden era. Manuel took over and the team won 3 of their final 4 games including the Gator Bowl where Manuel was selected as the game's MVP. He sat behind Ponder as a sophomore but won his only regular season start. Then when Ponder was injured in the Chick-a-fil-A Bowl, Manuel came in and led the Seminoles to victory for the second straight year. He became the starter his junior year after Ponder graduated and led the team to a winning season and a 3rd straight bowl victory. As a senior, Manuel led Florida State to their first 12-win season in 13 years. He is only the second quarterback in NCAA history to ever win 4 bowl games. He finished his career 25-6 as a starter and defeated arch-rivals Florida and Miami 5 out of 6 games. As a senior, Manuel led the Seminoles to their greatest offensive season in history with 6591 yards. He is an excellent student who's working on his second degree. There are zero character concerns and he has no weaknesses in his game. IMO he is completely pro ready having played in a pro-style offense for 3 seasons and I believe he will be the best QB from this class. -
Scott chandler interview

Glenn was playing outstanding football early on until suffering a severe high ankle sprain which caused him to miss 3 games plus the bye week. When he returned to action in week 9 he was not the same player. The Bills are not gonna draft a left tackle. -

Colt McCoy To Be Released Soon
San Jose Bills Fan replied to DefenseWins's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well that's true that they're not gonna find a Kaep-like player any time soon. Still it seems like McCoy is at the totally other end of the spectrum being somewhat undersized and having a very average arm. -

What's the saying? Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see. It's definitely that time of year. -
Nawrocki also said this: Opted not to compete at the Senior Bowl and has approached offseason training as if he has already arrived and it shows in his body with minimal muscle definition or strength. Has small hands and glaring ball security issues (32 career fumbles). Really struggled handling the snow in Pinstripe Bowl (took two safeties) and will be troubled by the elements.

Ah. Okay. The report I read didn't mention the 6th rounder that Cleveland is sending to the Niners. Thanks. -
Just remembered that Pardee was Jim Kelly's coach with the USFL Houston Gamblers.
