Factor in the uncertainty surround Nelson's knee and the fact that wherever he ends up, he'll likely sign for less than what the tender would have been. Yes he's a good football player but the non-retention of Nelson makes sense on many levels.

The Vikings still love Winfield, they just don't want to pay him. They are rumored to want him back at a cheaper price. Probably the reason he hasn't been moved to safety is because he's still an excellent cornerback. To the larger subject and since it hasn't been mentioned recently, top players don't usually want to finish their careers with rebuilding teams unless they are overpaid to do so.

I wouldn't be surprised in the least if he were the first quarterback taken.

But your post suggests that Warmack will be the next Carl Nicks (multiple All-Pro guard who is a former college tackle btw) and all the other guys who are gonna be there are risks. What if Dion Jordan is the next Aldon Smith? White if Ansah is the next Jason Pierre Paul? What if EJ Manuel is the next Cam Newton or Cordarelle Patterson is the next Julio Jones? I'm not saying who's gonna succeed and who's gonna bust but there's no guarantee for Warmack just as there's no guarantee for any of these players. edit: I understand your point. Not debating. Just saying.

Even if they were both outstanding in their core competencies, to me it would be like asking would you rather have Von Miller or Luke Keuchly? Pass rusher every time for me. But you have people who feel differently. For God's sake there's virtually a Rey Maualuga fan club on this board. It's kind of analogous to the "draft a guard at #8 faction." There's a real leather helmet contingent here which still thinks that the greatest good in football is running and stopping the run.

4/20 is two weeks from tomorrow. Agreed. The Bills are thinner at RB than most people think they are. But they only have 6 draft picks this year so hopefully they find an undrafted free agent who gives them more than Choice does.

Well for the record, most people here liked the Kolb signing: Yes (185 votes [66.07%]) No (50 votes [17.86%]) Undecided/Not sure (45 votes [16.07%]) Not the same thing as saying they thought he would succeed but still. It's my observation JR that a lot of people here overrate the Bills O-line and a lot of people underrate them. It seems like most of the statements about that unit are exaggerated as if people are really invested in their opinions. When you consider both pass blocking and run blocking, there's no way they're not a top ten unit. No way. That's how I would put it.

I will say this for Warmack: There are a few more people banging the drum for him this year than there were last year for DeCastro or the year before with Watkins. But EVERY year there is one guard who a small but vocal group of posters rally behind and they use the same arguments. Not saying they're right or wrong. Just stating an observation.

I'm not a Nix defender (after 3 years who would be?) so it's easy for me to say he's done a bad job. But he's still the decision maker as far as we know so it's very hard to imagine the Bills drafting a guard.
