  1. Which one? He expressed two different ideas. Are you saying he's grasping at straws with both ideas?
  2. People who live in NYS get gouged massively in every way. For instance, Real estate here is very expensive. But the tax rates are much lower than in Erie County. Here's a property in San Jose which is listing for $550,000. The total taxes are $4532 per year. http://www.zillow.co.../19790937_zpid/ Here's a property in Williamsville which is listing for $389,400. The total taxes are $10,347. http://www.zillow.co.../30245590_zpid/ And keep in mind that living in CA is expensive. But New Yorkers get the crap taxed out of them.
  3. So the criteria here is that the selection of one of these players would not make one jump off a roof?
  4. I'd personally have no problem with that. For one thing I don't need to drink to enjoy myself. And more importantly it would be great if there weren't a lot of blind drunk idiots staggering around the stadium. But alcohol is a big money maker so the NFL is always on a tightrope in terms of alcohol in the stadium.
  5. Well look, there was the OP's intent which one can choose to honor or not. But also when people are evaluated, they have strengths and weaknesses. Their work is broken down into categories. For instance a construction superintendent might say to a foreman "You run your crews well, you're organized and communicate well with your workers. On the other hand we feel you need to get better at coordinating work with the other trades and communicating with the general contractor." So while I totally agree with you about the interdependency of drafting and free agency, it's also fair to scrutinize one aspect of Nix's job performance.
  6. The fact that he has not signed his franchise tender can be interpreted several different ways. He's not talking (nor are the Bills) so we can only guess at this point.
  7. The OP stated the desire to grade Nix's drafting, not to grade him as a GM.
  8. When you franchise tag a player for a second straight year, his franchise tag value increases to 120% of the first year franchise figure. So the $6.96 million they are paying him for this year becomes $8.35 million next year. And if they were to apply the tag for a 3rd consecutive year, it goes to 144% of the first year which would be over $10 million. It can and has been done but teams (and the player) for different reasons prefer a long term deal.
  9. Anyways I like Buddy and wish that his track record were a bit better. It's a fine line though. If a few of his picks who we've partially written off were to surprise us this year (ie- Troup, Sheppard, A Williams) it could dramatically change our view of him. And of course hitting a few home runs in the upcoming draft could do the same. Nix still has an opportunity to re-write his legacy as Bills GM.
  10. Well if you had the capability to do so that would make it perfect. And you'd have the added bonus of reducing the chance of being attacked by the Anti-Nassibs.
  11. The thing is though that when you franchise tag a player for a second straight year, his franchise tag value increases to 120% of the first year franchise figure. So the $6.96 million they are paying him for this year becomes $8.35 million next year. 12. We did that this year with SF and ARZ. Could be but maybe not the only reason to stay out west. Business trips like that are purportedly good for team building and it also gives the players a nice climatological break.
  13. No need to apologize. If you can enjoy yourself and have a good time and don't have any social anxiety, why even have so much as a single drink? Hopefully everyone reaches a point in life where they can have a great time socializing without alcohol or drugs. Why should it be necessary?
  14. My point was teams getting screwed relative to their home games. The Seahawks don't get taxed at home but get taxed on the road. In that sense they get screwed on the road. The Bills get taxed less on the road than they do at home so they benefit from road games. Obviously based on state income tax, as an NFL player you'd rather play for Seattle (or Dallas, etc) than you would for Buffalo.
  15. So did anyone see his appearance on Gruden's QB Camp?
  16. Well it's still less than half AND, the point remains the same. No?
  17. Sorry to pile on here but you can't grad Nix's drafting performance without taking into account at very least: 1) the defensive players 2) the offensive line You're essentially trying to grade his drafting prowess based on less than half of the roster.
  18. Hey. HEY! HEY !!! WAKE UP, YOU'RE DREAMING!!!!!
  19. It would suck depending on what team you played with. Bills players get to be taxed at a lower rate for their 8 away games than for their 8 home games so they actually benefit. The state of Washington has no state income tax so Seattle Seahawks players comparatively get screwed for their away games.
