  1. Perhaps he shouldn't be referred to as a journalist. Unless demonstrably proven as a journalist, better to refer to these guys as writers although in many cases, that's also pushing it.
  2. In striving for intellectual honesty, you knowingly hurt your own argument when you said "Granted that teams with good management will always do bettter identifying good players than teams with bad managment…" Nevertheless, an interesting post. I think a main reason the draft would never be abolished is because it's such a popular event that captures the imagination of NFL fans for many weeks. BTW, who is Jay Berwanger?
  3. We're gonna get someone else on that Sundowner recon. Totally unacceptable. You're fired! We should take him to this place. JBoyst would like this pasture, in the hills of Ellicottville. If you guys haven't gone there, you ought to. It's stunningly beautiful. Yeah Mrags would be interested. :nana:
  4. Also if he doesn't have a high number of fumbles I would be completely unconcerned seeing as he's a very big (6'5" 240 pound) kid with monstrous (10 3/8") hands. If he wasn't a fumbler in college he's not gonna have a hard time adjusting to the pro game with those measurables.
  5. I guess the obvious question if we were to actually discuss it is who has a worse QB situation?
  6. That is my one sliver of hope… that and Bruce Smith being EJ's Godfather.
  7. Yeah I keep hearing about EJ being inconsistent but so far as I can tell, he only had one bad game last year (vs Florida).
  8. Yeah me too although you could see in the threads the past two weeks that people were making up their minds and committing to one QB and that Barkley was that guy. I don't see it at all. I'm not a big Nassib guy but I'd much rather have Nassib than Barkley.
  9. Perhaps he was comparing them based on one single facet of their game? Otherwise, WTF is he talking about? How would you describe his throwing motion?
  10. Ramius would know for sure. I didn't see that game. I haven't written off Ponder's career and in fact I kinda liked him as a draft prospect. I am however saying that in my eyes, he's been a bit disappointing so far.
  11. In business and human communication theory there are concepts such as Creative Disagreement, Creative Conflict, etc whereby it's not viewed as a negative to have differing opinions. The only ultimate negative is when the final decision turns out poorly. But a disagreement in-and-of-itself doesn't increase the likelihood of a bad decision being made.
  12. Well then Monte has only himself to blame. BTW, I hate spoiled kids and I hate when I have to witness parents spoiling their children.
  13. I know. It's just like when there was all that talk about Gailey liking athletic QBs and then hitching his wagon to Fitz and passing up on all these athletic QBs. :wallbash: :wallbash:
  14. Well Peter that would make you the most compassionate person in the world and perhaps the first person to ever feel sorry for Lane Kiffin.
  15. Me too. And that's the prevailing wisdom, that Nassib and Barkley are the best systemic fits.
  16. Well in rebuttal, I would say that his play speaks for itself. As a rookie you could excuse him being the 31st rated passer. This past season he was ranked 21st. Fitz was 17th. Stats aside, Ponder has not looked good when I've seen him. But yes, Minny has not given any indication that I'm aware of that they're unhappy with him.
  17. We've had this same discussion before about throwing long versus throwing hard. It's a weird thing but anyways for the record, Nassib threw the ball 61 yards at the Quicken Loans Skills Competition. EJ Manuel won the overall event and had the long throw of 66 yards. The other two QBs were Mike Glennon and Aaron Rodger's brother who played at Vanderbilt… can't remember his first name. Don't recall how long their throws were.
  18. I dunno Alpha. I bet Minny is secretly disappointed with Ponder so far. And also the Titans with Clocker. These are legitimate cautionary tales. There are legit morals to these stories, IMO.
