San Jose Bills Fan replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After twice being released by NFL clubs earlier this year, Titus Young has now been arrested…. twice in one day. http://profootballta...ice-in-one-day/ -

Inside Buffalo's draft room

Kelly and BillsVet, you guys are arguing over minutia. I hate to be over-reductionistic but again, it's very simple. Good teams have good head coaches and good quarterbacks. If you have both of these things you have a good team. If you don't have both of these things you don't have a good team. All the rest is just filler. Nix made a bad coaching hire. He was given the chance to make another head coaching hire. After waiting too long on several QBs (Kaepernick, Wilson, Cousins) Nix finally pulled the trigger on a QB. As such, Nix has the opportunity to dramatically re-write his legacy as Bills GM. -
Yeah not saying whether it's true or not but that site has ZERO credibility. It seems like when free agency opened this year, they were just throwing crap against the wall. I'm not in favor of the practice of this forum banning websites but I'd rather read Bleacher Report than Pro Football Central. Look how shoddy and generic their site is…. It feels like you're buying electronics equipment and jewelry out of someone's car trunk.

Funny story but wasn't he traded?

I guess racing starts this weekend at Lancaster. I'd go down there and talk to people, get to know the crowd. http://elegantbuildersracewaypark.com/drag-race-schedule/ I've read the first step for lots of guys is to work on a crew to really get familiar with the sport. Holland is the other asphalt track in WNY. The others are dirt. This Saturday there is an all divisions open practice at Holland. http://www.hollandspeedway.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&id=35:scheduleinfo&Itemid=55&layout=default And you probably already read this one: http://www.automedia.com/So_You_Want_to_be_a_Racecar_Driver/pht20070501rc/1

I'm guessing that you're not intending on directing this post towards Beastly Dareus? Beastly Dareus is the one saying "In the end, high school rankings don't mean anything." -

I don't know. Of the 13 games the Longhorns played last year, there are only condensed versions of two of the games. However we know two things: 1) He has great leaping ability and 2) It seems that Texas is usually content to let him outrun opponents rather than outleap them. -

Yeah again, John Cocktosten thinks the Florida State wide receivers are talented with lots of upside but that their quarterback EJ Manuel doesn't have any upside. -
Tom Brady freaks out at the Kentucky Derby
San Jose Bills Fan replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. Basically our treatment of Brady here is low-brow and sophomoric, like elementary school kids calling one of the boys a sissy. I really don't think it's what you say it is but I guess we'll disagree and I'll follow your lead and drop it too. And you don't have to apologize just like we don't have to apologize for saying Brady's a big sissy. -

That's still a different discussion than saying the people here are sexual insecure. Brady has the mannerisms of a girl. He's an easy target because of that. It's typical sports fandom, not some manifestation of sexual insecurity. -

Yeah, Rogers' broad jump is the same as Goodwin's and his vert is only 2.5 inches less than Goodwin's 42 inches. Those really are some awesome numbers. -
I guess my point is that lukewarm Kool-Aid isn't really Kool-Aid.

Bill Polian on Jerry Hughes
San Jose Bills Fan replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And the other thing about Sheppard to add to what you've written here is that he also lacked physicality. You could forgive him his lack of instincts and lack of quickness if he was a hard rock thumper. But he wasn't that either. I'm skeptical that a change of scenery will do him much good but maybe. Let me put it this way, he certainly can't get any worse. -

"Insecure in their own sexuality?" Let me help you out here. We're talking about a hated rival quarterback that has tormented us for over a decade…. a guy Bills fans love to hate…. because he's an enemy quarterback and that's what we're supposed to do. We hate on the guy. It has to do with being an ardent partisan sports fan. Your comment about sexual insecurity kinda comes out of the blue. I'm sitting here thinking, "what the hell is he talking about?" -
Bill Polian on Jerry Hughes
San Jose Bills Fan replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't speak to Hughes' play because I never really noticed him play. But to say that "they got the better of the deal?" In my book Sheppard had almost zero value. Every time he played he sucked. You could have gotten equivalent play from an undrafted free agent. That's a weird take. -

Actually Lynch was charged with DUI last July near Oakland. Also he again has skipped voluntary workouts in Seattle which has raised the eyes of some pundits. -
Well lately I haven't agreed with much of what Polian's been saying for public consumption. Nonetheless, his reputation in NFL circles is pretty secure and his role in building the Super Bowl Bills is rather instrumental. Last week the Bills traded Kelvin Sheppard for Jerry Hughes, a player that Bill Polian drafted in the first round. Polian believes that Jerry Hughes "turned a corner" last season and here's more on that (with an audio link to the John Murphy show included): http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2013/05/06/jerry-hughes-turned-the-corner-last-year/

One interesting subtext of this conversation is whether money is relative or absolute in value. There are many compelling arguments that it's relative. There are as many arguments that it's absolute. I tend to lean towards the latter. -
