  1. I agree with KOKBILLS and Kirby Jackson. Carrington was one of the better defensive players last year. He doesn't need to be re-born and when he does well this year, it won't be a surprise, IMO. This is very encouraging. The fact that they could play so well as fetuses gives me hope that they can become impact players when they become viable infants! Williams is a good nominee as are Troup, Easley and Searcy. I think you exempt last year's rookies because unless you're taken in the first two rounds, you're not really expected to contribute right away so guys like TJ Graham. Bradham, Brooks, and Zebrie Sanders I wouldn't put in the reborn/surprise category. Hairston has played pretty well for a 2011 draftee so I wouldn't nominate him. A 2010 draftee who could surprise us is Arthur Moats.
  2. There are a very few cold weather cities that are capable of hosting Super Bowls and those cities are still under consideration. Then there are cold weather cities which are incapable of hosting Super Bowls. Buffalo shouldn't feel bad though. There will never be a Super Bowl in Green Bay or Cleveland either.
  3. According to these guys, we should take the under.
  4. True. The guy I wanted at that pick was Sergio Kindle. I always feel like you can't have enough pass rushers and I thought he'd be perfect as a 3-4 OLB. His career hasn't worked out either.
  5. Thanks. Pretty dishonest move by the Bears, knowing he would never take the offer. Then they took two linebackers in the draft so clearly they were moving on. As Urlacher said, "I just wish they would have said, 'We don't want you back.' I think this whole thing is just about them saving face and trying to say that they made a run at me."
  6. Very few linebackers had the ability to play both the run and the pass so effectively. Derrick Brooks…. Lance Briggs is also a great linebacker in that same sense.
  7. What offer? I had read that the Bears had zero interest in bringing him back. Regardless, what an awesome player.
  8. In fairness, Cody has been a disappointment. He's been a rotational player who has show occasional flashes as a rookie, started some games in 2011 where he was underwhelming, and last year backed up the now-departed Ma'ake Kemoeatu. Despite being healthy, Cody has started just 20 games over 3 seasons with only 3 starts last year. Cody has been pencilled in as a starter this year but he hasn't really earned the job or played up to his draft spot. Aside from Gronk and staying with the assumption that the Bills should have taken a 2nd round DT/NT in 2010, their man should have been Linval Joseph who in the last two seasons has started 31 games and tallied 6 sacks. Joseph was taken 5 picks after Troup and 11 picks before Cody.
  9. Generally with news or sports coverage these days, it panders to the casual and uninformed, thus alienating the serious and well-informed. I guess this approach works for ratings but it sure sucks if the quality of coverage is important to you.
  10. I'm awaiting that explanation too. I'm not seeing any linkage on the face of it.
  11. Good question. I was wondering that myself. I know the workouts are voluntary but so far no one on the Bills is volunteering a reason why he's missing.
  12. Pettine was effusive in his praise of Kiko today. He said that the staff at Oregon made sure that Kiko was "pro ready." Looks like there's no doubt that he's gonna be the opening day MLB/ILB.
  13. Guess it's my turn. 14. Maybe her motivation for "winning" is justified by his treatment of her. We simply don't know the facts here. It is pointless to admonish the behavior of one when we don't know what really happened. As incredulous as it might seem, there's actually a scenario where she is the one taking the higher road. We. don't. know.
  15. To show just how hopeless the situation is, Florio at PFT suggests they increase the prize money to get the players to play hard. Currently winners get $50K and losers get $25K. Why the !@#$ would any fan want a player from their favorite team to play hard in the Pro Bowl? While some make the argument that "playing to not get injured" might increase the risk of injury, I can assure you that playing to win will not make the game any safer. For most players that single game is about 1% of their playing career. Why risk the injury? Why rack up the mileage? Why play to win? Get rid of the stupid game already. These guys have enough health and injury issues. That's like rewarding a very productive coal miner with the prize of being able to go and mine some more coal. It's nonsensical.
  16. Gotcha. I think there's enough return talent on the team that I'd like to see him not do any returning. To your point about punt vs kick returns, it was always weird to me that the Bills used him on kickoffs but not punts. Yes, he proved to be pretty good on kickoff returns but at Troy, 7 of his 8 return touchdowns were punt returns. It seems like the Bills had him miscast all these years.
  17. Funny comment: Super rich Gronk shows up, probably empty handed, to down your free beer and screw your women...not the best party guest ever.
  18. "Unlike a certain Austrian bodybuilder you might have heard of…. ?"
  19. I don't know if you attempted to or not but you didn't address the question I asked. Why is the hate for Brandon at an all-time high?
  20. Interesting that Pettine has not brought in any of his own players yet and that Marrone didn't bring in any former Syracuse players. So far there's not too much to suggest that nepotism/patronage has superseded more important considerations. That's a good thing. Especially if you're a Buffalonian.
