I 100% agree with this post. Anthony Lynn almost gave me an ulcer to end the game in regulation when he only took 1 shot to the end zone and thankfully Clay made the touchdown catch. Then we run that razzle dazzle play to Bush. The last thing we wanted to do was lose yards and make our shaky kicker try a longer fg. Lynn and our poor special team play and our awful defensive tackling made me sick.

Fans can't have passion, get over yourself already! If you are a true fan and this doesn't upset you then there is something wrong with you, not me. It's a big game, not just a game, we still have a shot to make the playoffs. We have a small shot but the fat lady hasn't started singing yet. 7 point game, now we need the D to step up. -

This defense is the main reason Rex and the entire defensive staff need to get fired immediately. He has made our defense worse. The one thing Rex supposedly knows he has failed at, dump his butt! -

Guess how many teams...
offsides#76FredSmerlas replied to metzelaars_lives's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tyrod is a huge compliment to the running game. He scored I believe 6 rushing touchdowns, has more rushing yards than any other QB my a large margin and runs the option where teams cannot just key on our running back. Just the fact that he is a threat to run and you must key on him means that he is a huge compliment to the running game. The bottom line is the our team wouldn't be number 1 in rushing the last two years without him behind center. Does he need to improve his passing game, absolutely but again look at how many times he extends plays on third downs because he picks up the first down with his legs. -
The only way I would keep TT is if he restructures his deal and you tell him he is back in a QB competition again next year. If we cut TT loose then I would sign EJ to a 3 year deal and give him top back up money. You are not going to find a better back up QB on the market. I would give EJ enough money so that he won't try to leave and try to be a #1 with another club. I'm not saying I think he is a #1 but being that he is young and has lots of tangibles some team may present him an opportunity. The Bills I believe will give Cardale a chance to prove himself next year. They must in my opinion get a veteran guy in here and unless they think there is a solid college QB that really has a chance to develop I would not draft a QB. We already have a young Cardale Jones who is only a year out of college. If Cardale doesn't step his game up then maybe we go that route again in the draft next season. My biggest scare is that TT leaves and some team develops him in to a stud QB.

Good find, I didn't realize he did that well. I did notice that it was his lowest passing yards, his lowest throwing Pct%, and highest sack total taken by more than double. His performance did slip but he is a future HOF and still did a great job. I would not have guessed that he actually performed that well, again good find. Timing will be off with Sammy, but he will pull coverage his way and create others to be open hopefully. I agree with you for the most part. He needs to improve but he is the best we have and I don't feel he is as bad as some think.
-
so timing is not an issue when you have different guys lining up every week? Also, you can show the All 22 on any team and you would see the same thing. Qb's miss guys open all the time. I said he needs to improve but at this time we have nothing better and I do believe that as a second year starter he has done pretty well without weapons on the field the last 2 years.
-
Look at how bad Rodgers played last year when his number 1 receiver was injured. The only guy I have ever seen play to a high level when his top offensive talent was not on the field is none other than Tom Brady. There's not a QB in the league other than Brady who would look good throwing to our scrap running routes. Tate, Goodwin, and a guy we just grabbed after a year lay off "Harvin" are our Wide receivers. If Woods and Watkins are hurt then we have the worst receivers in the entire NFL.
-
You can point to players messing up every week as a case to why you won or loss a game. If our kicker had hit a few crucial field goals and extra points in earlier games then maybe we would have a few more wins. If our number 1 and 2 wide receivers were healthy, if our number 1 safety was playing, if our number 2 draft pick was playing, if Mccoy didn't get hurt every other game, if our 100 million nose tackle Dareus didn't take drugs and was not injured, if we didn't commit 10 penalties, damn if if if if if if if, etc.... Hell we won a game. Sometimes the ball bounces your way and sometimes it doesn't but I think it is about damn time we got lucky because luck doesn't ever seem to fall our way. Ryan stop being Mr. Negative. If Tyrod had all his weapons and he had them in practice I'm sure his timing would be a whole lot better. He extends more plays with his legs and picks up more first downs when we break down than any QB we have ever had. Does he need to get better, yes, but without Tyrod back there our team wouldn't have a chance. EJ is not the answer and Cardale is not ready.

I agree with just about everything you said here. I do feel like our defense applied pretty solid pressure on Brady but it didn't seem to matter because our DB's couldn't watch their guys even when we got to him. We also did a decent job against the run; not like last week. I feel that Rex does try to out smart opponents defensively and just the opposite happens, his teams get out smarted. I loved Swartz because he let the guys pin their ears back and play and react. Defensive guys will always say they would rather be athletic and reactors and not out their overthinking. We seem to get beat in the back end a lot because someone misses an assignment, it happened last week too. I even remember Rex putting blame on himself in week one against the Ravens because the Raven scored on a missed assignment and he said the guy we brought in was only here for a short period of time and wasn't taught that particular scheme yet. The bottom line is were just not well coached. I am a big Whaley fan but sooner or later we need to find a wide out that is nasty and can stay healthy. These snowflakes who get hurt every other play need to find another team. Watkins is a rare talent so obviously he needs to stay but damn he needs to find a way to stay on the field too.

I'm more worried about who will be catching the ball over who will be throwing it. Taylor will get better and he extends a lot of plays with his legs but just like last year Watkins is hurt for most of the year and there is really no one else worth a damn. Clay will be giving his walking papers soon too, we get almost as much from O'Leary. Glass Goodwin is always hurt too. Taylor needs to get a better touch on his ball but damn we better go after some wideouts. -

He has shied away from tackles all season, last week against Miami he looked terrible on several occasions as he half pretended to stick his nose in only to step away before there was any contact to be made with Ajayi. He is a complete pansy. Everyone on here is talking about the play where he looked like an idiot pointing fingers on the bomb but how about when it was 3rd and 14 and Hogan faked him out of is jock and was completely wide open for a 16 yard gain. He made Hogan look like a #1 draft pick today. This kid has been a bum all year and I say that because he is suppose to be elite. He is far from elite and far from a guy who wants elite money. I hope Seymour is ready because Gilmore is not going to get paid superstar money and if the Bills do that they are crazy! -
I can't believe he thinks he is that good. He says look at the film and that the film doesn't lie. I know this, my eyes don't lie. He has average cover ability and he is the least physical player on the entire defense. He gets pushed around and avoids tackles every week. He won't be a Bill next season. I highly doubt it.
-
agree 100% He always gloats and says dumb crap! Have some class and stay calm big boy, your hanging on to your job by a thread. One game don't prove anything. Show some consistency and stop acting like you just won a super bowl. The Pats by the way are 3-0 with their back ups and you are 1-2 with the 90 million dollar man.

We led the league in sacks and were among the leaders in take aways. I guess you have the opinion that we stunk and that's fine, your entitled but I don't feel we stunk. We did need to improve against the run but Rex has proved his defenses can't get anything done. I just think if you hire a different defensive coach with a whole new approach you can throw this season away because it will take time to learn. I would bet that most fans would take Pettine over Rex and the gang in a heartbeat.
-
Yes, because he proved it worked before and I think they share the same concepts but he lets the players have a lot more freedom and he orchestrates a lot more pressure on the QB. Let's face it, there are a lot of Tampa 2 guys, 3-4 guys, 4-3 guys etc... but its how you as a coach put your personal finger prints on it to make it your defense. What kind of guy you are during game situations? How good are you at game planning? How good are you at making game time adjustments? How good at scouting the opposing teams offense and being able to attack their weaknesses. Klos63 you can't just ditch everything during the 3rd week.
-
I would like to see Rex, his brother and the DC fired ASAP! Keep Greg Roman because you don't want to change the offense and start over until next year, if time tells he can't get it done. I would name Greg Roman the interim Head Coach. If he doesn't improve things he gets fired at the end of the season. Immediately hire Petine to run the defense. Because he worked under Rex it won't be a major change, especially with terminology. Change is needed!

Driskel. He's the one.
offsides#76FredSmerlas replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is impossible for anyone to say he is the one. There are 31 other teams and over 100 picks before the Bills choose in the 4th round. You can say you like the kid and hope the Bills have a shot at selecting him but to say he is the "one". It's hard enough for people to get the first pick correct, let alone a QB in the 4th round. By the way, my guess is we get Robert Nkemdiche at the 19th pick but it is a total crap shoot. -
We will choose the best player on the board. The Bills have stood by this and still many fans say the Bills should go this position or that position. It all depends on how the draft falls. The Bills have an idea how that may happen but even they don't know the direction they are going in until draft day. If 2 guys have a similar score then and only then will they choose the need position. I want the best player and if it's a defensive LB or lineman great but you can't justify a lower graded player if you can grab a stud at a different position. We still can pick up guys in the later rounds, bring in guys who get cut by other teams in pre season and groom what we have on the roster already. I trust Whaley, he does a nice job on draft day, something that haunted us for years before he took over.
-
The first key to a successful season is staying healthy. Second, the defense will have a much better understanding of the defense. Third, a solid draft. Number 4, Tyrod takes another step in the right direction. Look at last year's Panthers who went to the super bowl. They made no big splashes in free agency after going 6-10. Then there #1 WR Benjamin gets hurt for the season. Who would have thought that they could have had the season they did? I believe Buffalo can have that same kind of success. I'm thinking they will not be coming in this season like last year thinking they are a playoff team. This year they will focus, improve, and show it on the field.

Here's the thing about the off duty police officers. If they tried to use their power of the badge they would all be fired so they probably never told anyone they were police officers. Once a police officer has any alcohol in their system they lose the power of the badge. It was basically a fight between some guys at a bar and the fact that they were police officers have nothing to do with it. I'm not sure how it all started but they cannot be charged with an assault on a police officer. When I was a law enforcement officer 2 guys in our department tried to push their badge on people in a bar after they had been drinking and they were fired the next day.

Sad news for Bills LB Tony Steward
offsides#76FredSmerlas replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Brittany's mom and I are good friends and she was my North Carolina Neighbor for 8 years. Brittany was her life and I am deeply saddened for her and what she is going through. She was so excited to visit Buffalo last year and see her daughter and watch Tony play for the first time as a starter. My prayers go out to Tony and Brittany's mother and I can only hope that God can help them through this extremely difficult time.
