  1. I would draft either Luck or Mallet depending on how they perform the rest of the way during their respected seasons. There's a QB out of Nevada "Colin Kaepernick" that is intriging but I don't think he's a sure thing by any means. He has a rocket for an arm, he's big and he runs like Vick. If we get a guy like Kolb in here then maybe we grab a tackle but without a QB things will never get better. We need to draft about 3 lineman in next years draft for sure but QB would be my first choice.
  2. It's painfully obvious that Fred Jackson is our best running back. He has got to be pissed unless there is a sound reason for him not playing. I am only hoping that he didn't get the bulk of the carries last week because either A) Lynch was being shown to other teams for a possible trade or B) Jackson still needs time to heal more before carrying a heavy load. Fred Jackson averaged 4.5 yards a carry last season. In his few attempts last game he proved again that he sees the holes better then any other back on this team and he can make something out of nothing with his good vision and cut back ability. Last season he demonstrated that he is a very good receiver out of the back field. I will be shocked and upset if Fred is not featured this week.
  3. The bottom line is that the good coaches want to go where there's something to work with and they also want to know that when they move their famalies they're not going to have to relocate after one season which could be the case if Buffalo loses their franchise. Third, if Ralph isn't the owner then they have to think their time could be up even if they're doing a good job as coach. If new ownership comes in they will probably hire their own people. Why would any head coach put themselves in that kind of situation where there's not a lot of stability. .
  4. I don't understand your logic at all. Your team does improve by letting Johnson or any other player play more and get more reps in practice "in the long run". If we were a team on the cusp of making the playoffs then I could see keeping Owens. What does Owens give you, 2 wins maybe, a lower draft pick, and probably an attitude if he didn't get the ball more than he did last season. Why would you keep Owens when you are looking at a 2 or 3 year rebuild? By cutting Reed and not re-signing Owens you are allowing players like Parrish, Nelson, Johnson, and Jones to get more playing time. No brainer!!!
  5. The only thing you might be correct about in my opinion is Ingcognito. He wanted a long term deal and would have had to play guard, moving Wood to center. They wanted to keep Schobel. If you keep Owens you are not progressing your many young WR's. Philly wasn't going to trade Vick. Mcnab didn't want to play here. F. Adams doesn't help you in the development of our young lineman. I think Spiller will end up being the better pro between him and Bulaga when it's all said and done. We don't know for sure if Gaither was available or if they were asking to much. Why not change to the 3-4 when you are in re-build mold. Do it now and go through the growing pains and by the way the defense although not great, is not playing awful. Green Bay will scortch any team in the NFL if they are on the field as much as they were against us. So, your argument to say Buddy and Chan are doing an incompetent job is nothing but wrong IMO. Give them time before we make that assessment. I always laugh at people who wonder why we don't go after FA's. How do you know what our front office is doing? I bet were on the phone all the time but the bottom line is players will not come to Buffalo until we turn this thing around through ther draft. That's just common sense...
  6. For everyone that is bashing Gailey for starting Edwards this year, "Get a clue". Yes Gailey had film on Edwards from last season and yes Edwards was awful and still is. But what he saw was Edwards playing QB for a Dick Jauron team with revolving coordinators who had no business coaching at this level. He also saw Edwards playing behind a banged up offensive line. How can you judge anyone who played under that mess? Chan did what any fair coach would do. He said it's an open competition and may the best QB take the job. Trent got the nod after showing he was the best QB in training camp and then he went out and performed adequately in the pre-season. Chan was most likely hoping that he could help Trent become a better QB but if he went back to the old Trent from last year he would yank him with a short leash. He gave him two games and then made a quick decision, not a wishy washy decision, and pulled him before he could bring the morale of the team and the fans any lower. He needed to see if Trent could fair better under his system and his philosophies. We know, and he knows what Fitz brings to the table. Fitz is a good back up but not a franchise QB. Chan now knows that Edwards is not a capable QB at this point in his career and he will probably be let go in the near future. Chan did the right thing by playing and by quickly removing Trent as the starter. He knows this team is rebuilding and it's his job to evaluate the players to know what he has moving forward. Believe me, after this season there will be another huge player movement with this club.
  7. No, every team misses on picks, some just do it on a more regular basis "BILLS". What the Patriots did well was that they made the best out of a bad situation. I applaud them for getting something from a guy who will never play for them and would have hit the open market next year. You can't compare these two organizations; are you kidding me!!!
  8. I am totally embarrassed because I am a die hard Bills fan who every year gets suckered into seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. Do I think were a great team, by no means, but I was hoping to see an offense that would not look like the Dick Jauron/Van Pelt high school crap we saw the last several years. What really bothers me is that it's going to take at least 2 more seasons of good draft picks before we get better. Free agents will not come here until we start turning the corner. I don't know how much of this crap I can handle. Dick Jauron and the front office completely left us without quality players to build upon. It's like building from the ground up, it's going to take time and I personally have run out of patience. Forget about depth, we don't even have starters. We better forget about drafting at any other position until we get some offensive lineman in here that can play this game and not get pushed around on every play.
  9. I'm not saying Buffalo is a great team by any means, so don't get me wrong. I just don't see how you think the Dolphins are going to compete with the Jets/Pats in this division and assume Buffalo will be the 4th place finisher. It's a total toss up between the Bills and the Dolphins for last place in the division "most likely". This first game might tell us a lot about the direction of the two teams. I think a coach can make a major difference for a team and thus far Chan Gailey is doing a nice job, but we'll see if that translates to wins on Sundays.
  10. John, that's why they play the games. You have an unproven QB, a suspect defense with no pass rush, one running back who is 33 years old and the other who can't keep from being injured. Also, that offense you run up there in Miami is no longer a surprise to defenses around the NFL. I expect Miami to win no more than 5 games and finish dead last in the AFC East. About the rivalry being gone; that will happen when two teams stink it up as long as the Dolphins and Bills have. Buffalonian at heart---->I agree with everything you said, you hit on the facts where as John just jumped on the bandwagon!!!
  11. I like the optimisim. I always have my hope throttle way up before the first kickoff. I just can't bring myself to that point with the O-line though. The bottom line is that our offensive line has been horrible for the last 10 seasons and until they can prove their worth on Sundays I cannot be as optimistic as you claim to be. I think we have 2 players worth a damn but they are young and will make mistakes (Wood & Levitre). Bell has done nothing in his career up to this point to show he can be a consistent player; Green is average at best and Hangartner has been nothing short of a disappointment in my book. He just doesn't seem physical enough to get any push and gets blown back on pass protection. I am no expert on offensive lines but I know our QB's have been running for their lives on nearly every play for the last 10 seasons. We need to get stronger at the center spot and at the very least at one of the tackle positions-"along with some more game experience" before I see things getting much better. In saying all that "I HOPE YOU ARE RIGHT AND I AM WRONG"-GO BILLS!!!
  12. We can just as simply say that they could have challenged the play in order to evaluate their short yardage defensive team at the goal line. I think the coaches blew it and should have challenged the play. They need to work on ironing that stuff out as coaches and relaying those signals down to the field faster. Also, you just put our team down by 4 points. Were trying to build on winning even though it is only preseason. It was just the beginning to our team getting buried. Players are asked never to give up and always give everything they got for the best possible outcome on the field. The coaches should have those same expectations.
  13. I loved when Joe Theismann was talking to Snyder and the Bills punted the ball to the Redskins. Joe was telling Snyder that the Skins just made an interception and went on to tell the owner that Washington didn't turn many balls over last year and this was good to see. They showed him in the booth seconds later with a big dumb ass smile on his face. He had no idea it was a punt and not an interception. I guess he's not good at multi-tasking. He also got on Chambers for jumping offsides and it was Merideth. It was hard listening to that goof...
  14. I'm tired of everyone saying he shouldn't have checked the ball down on 3rd and 13. The pass was made because nobody else was open and it made for an easy field goal. Should he have forced a bad pass like he did in the next series? I'm not a huge Edwards fan but there is a time when a QB needs to check the ball down. If they were not in field goal range then maybe you try to hold the ball a little longer to make a play but they picked up 11 yards on the pass and went from a long 48 yard field goal to a chip shot 37 yarder.
  15. The scenario I am going to give happened 17 years ago; prior to Jim Kelly being married. From this event I did form an opinion about him but I will never know what exactly happened. My girlfriend at the time who modeled (blonde/23 years old) and was a former runner up for Ms. teen New York was invited with her friends to go on a dinner cruise. It just so happened that several of the Bills players were on the cruise as well. At the end of the night her friends looked all over for her but she could not be found. Her and I lived together and she never did make it home that night. Her story was that she woke up in a strange bed and has no idea how she got there. She said that the only thing she remembers is that she had a couple of drinks at the bar with Jim Kelly. When she came home the next day she was sick, very dizzy, and not herself "all day". My guess although this is just speculation is that she was slipped the date rape drug. I remember telling my dad I wanted to drive over to Kelly's house and give him a piece of my mind but my dad laughed and said I would be arrested before I even made it to his door. I was young and took the wisdom from my father to stay home and just vent...
  16. The bottom line is that without Ralph Wilson there would be no Buffalo Bills, there would be not excitement in the Buffalo area except for the Sabres, and there would be no twobillsdrive forum for everyone to B word about their beloved Bills.
  17. Aaron Schobel was overated in my book. He was the best of what little we have had on defense in the past 10 years or so. The last 3 years he has been an average lineman in the NFL and when he was at his best he was slightly above average. My point is this; the Bills shouldn't be concerned about a player who's facing the down years of his career. Also, if he was average at his natural position how in the world do you think he's going to perform at a position he's never played before. My guess is he would have been a back up this year at OLB. Thanks for the 10 plus years in Buffalo Aaron but you're not the only one who saw the writing on the wall; I'm right there with you...
  18. Everyone needs to chill out. The seasons roster is not complete. We can make a trade, pick up a free agent or maybe even be surprised at how are guys from last year may come around. Bell can only be better; last year was his first year at the position for us. The fans just need to relax and stop thinking they no more about football than Nix, a former head coach, former scout, and now head GM. He knows more about football than any average Joe Wednesday afternoon blogger-that's for sure! We can't fix all our problems in one season. I think we did a nice job with the pieces we added in the draft but we will be needing to put at least one more good draft together before we can judge a rebuilding organization. We haven't been in the playoffs in 10 years-we are rebuilding...
  19. Exactly; would you offer someone a contract if they told you that they were not interested in coming back. I'm not saying this is what happened-just me "a fan" making a guess as to what I think probably went down. All I'm saying is the public never knows the real story. You only hear what the Bills want you to hear.
  20. How do you figure? That makes no sense. Kind of like your opening statement... Hey if you keep crying enough you'll one day have the majority of coaches being black in the NFL too. Crazy that we have to have a Rooney rule. Let the best guy get a job black or white...
  21. You sure don't come out to watch the teams play in ANY sport. Take the whites out of the crowds and nobody would have a franshise because the leagues would go broke. You do dominate the jails though... Your a jackass
  22. I am so tired of people turning to racism. That's exactly why we don't have unity in this world; because of people like you always trying to divide the people. Listen, the media will never be perfect and they jump all over "whites" just like they bash "blacks". The media works on all the emotions of the people who read or listen to their crap. Do you think that the Duke lacrosse team deserved months of torment before they were all found innocent? It happens! Quit bringing out the race card every time you have a problem in society-it gets old!!!
  23. I don't care if you are pink, you are an idiot! For every black person who gets stabbed by the media I can come back and give you the name of a white individual who had the same thing happen. I rarely ever hear a white person cry racism but I hear it all the time by blacks. I at least give you credit for sticking up for the black folks but you are wrong. When that foolish "white" radio broadcaster made fun of the Rutgers womens basketball team he got slammed and that story lasted for what seemed like months. Hey, he was a jerk and he deserved what he got. BUT, I'm not going to get on a chat line and say "Well why do the whites always get harrassed and not the blacks"? There is a high percentage of blacks who just look for ways that they could cry racism. I'm tired of hearing it. Why are so many blacks always looking for ways to divide the people and cause problems? Bill Cosby knows what I'm talking about...
