  1. I wouldn't trade the best offensive player on the team and a player who could have been MVP of the league if he didn't get hurt. Geeez, let's trade a great player and end up with a first rounder such as Mckelvin, Williams, Losman, Mccargo, Whitner, Maybin or Flowers.
  2. No team would give us a #1 draft pick for him but to be honest I wouldn't trade him anyways. Our track record for selecting guys in the first round hasn't been to good. I know Nix and Gailey haven't been around long enough to speculate on their drafts but if you look at the entire league, maybe half the teams hit on a first round pick and the others are busts or average players. Now if I could get a first rounder for Spiller I would do it in a second. Spiller is a utility back, not an every down back. I would take a chance on a first rounder to fill a need and get rid of a back up and a guy who is to small to carry the rock 25 times a game.
  3. Players who are not on winning teams have a hard time making the pro bowl. If we won 9 or 10 games he may have been selected to the pro bowl this year with his numbers. "This year he was a very solid linebacker for the Bills."
  4. If Ralph fired him and didn't want him when he was younger and very successful why would he bring him back now that he is much older and coming off a 2-14 record? If I was an owner of any business and I fired a guy I can promise you I would never hire him back. I personally would love Polian to be our GM but that would make zero sense for Ralph to rehire him.
  5. Yeah, somewhere down the road Jackson will be gone. He is 31 years old so I'm guessing he will play through only one more contract.
  6. If the Bills lose Johnson then I can promise you that we will either land a top WR free agent or we will draft a WR in the first round. Gailey, being the offensive minded guy that he is would never handcuff himself with no weapons on the offensive side of the ball. I'm guessing that we sign Johnson and pick up a good, but not great #2 WR in free agency. If Johnson wants superstar money and walks then my guess is that they will get Jeffries or Blackmon in the draft.
  7. What's the comparison with him and A. Jeffries from South Carolina? I really like the way Jeffries plays, seems to be very physical and can go up and make catches in traffic.
  8. I'm with you and would really like to give him one last shot at making our team. It's not like we had anyone step up at that position so what do we have to lose. I do disagree that we looked better with Shawne in the line up. I think we have looked terrible on defense in every game but the KC and Denver game. Shawne displayed some things in pre-season that got me a little excited but I never saw it in the real games. I think he played in the game against the Raiders and Patriots and they went up and down the field on us. I hope he heals and gives us a positive shot in the arm next year.
  9. We have an owner who is not going to be around much longer. I hate to be negative about his situation but RW can really pass at any time. He's what 93 or 94 years old? If he passes away nobody's job is secure because a new owner will probably wanna bring in his own people to run the organization. I think if something were to happen to RW before next season then Gailey would be most likely axed. I'm a Gailey supporter but if I'm him I'm more worried about the owners health than anything because I think RW will keep him around as long as he is alive.
  10. You and all the other cry baby's need to stop your complaining about Fitz. He is having a hell of a year and if you look at his stats over the last 17 games it's clear he's the best thing we've had since Jim Kelly. Mike Vick is a franchise QB, Tom Brady is a franchise QB, and Matt Cassel was a pro bowler last year. Fitz out played all 3 of them. I guess those teams need to look for another "franchise QB". Before Fitz it was dreadful to watch our offense. We couldn't even get first downs. If we were down 7 points it felt like the game was over already. You don't think Fitz is the biggest reason our line looks good. Fred jackson and Gailey's calls contribute to that but Fitz is the main reason our line has looked good. I admit Fitz had a bad game yesterday but all good Qb's play poorly, even Kelly had me cussing at times. Crap, when is the last time we had a QB knock off the Patriots... I am so tired of the whiners on here who are never happy. So to answer your stupid statement, there is a lot of doubt that we DO NOT need a franchise QB. I might change my mind after the season but from what we saw so far, that is just dumb!!!
  11. Yes I did, but being conservative was my point. Do you think Dallas played that right? The Bills made the right call but didn't execute...
  12. Dallas just tried to do the same thing against New England just a few minutes ago. One of the guys on here said he was yelling WTF WTF after he saw us pass with 4 minutes to go and I just yelled WTF WTF after Romo handed the ball off 3 times, not trying to pick up first downs and not going for the juggler. Dallas had 3:46 to kill and they decided to play Dick Jauron ball and lost. They wasted about 1 minute off the clock; you call that smart. Gailey is a hell of a coach and he put this team in position to win. Fitz is human and made a few mistakes, the biggest costing us dearly at the end of the game. That's how sports go, can't expect perfection all the time. I would be more ticked if we did what Dallas did and played not to lose instead of playing to win. We gave it our best shot and fell short. I would much rather play for a guy like Gailey than play for a scared coach like Jason Garret.
  13. I just watched NFL playbook on buffalobills.com and 3 of the 4 guys (Sterling Sharpe, Joe Theisman, and Brian Baldinger) picked the Bills to win. I kind of like when people pick against us like little Mike from "Mike and Mike in the morning" did this morning on ESPN. I think proving people wrong is whole lot more fun.
  14. Hey without St. Joes there would be no rival, what fun with that be??? I always respected Canisius but boy did I love to beat them...
  15. By the way, I used to coach at St. Joes and those were some of the most respectful kids I have ever come across in my 19 years of coaching. I can't speak for Chad, never met him but to lump all St. Joe students into one catagory is just idiotic. I'm betting some of the St. Joe bashers on here just got their butts handed to them in athletics because St. Joes is normally ranked in the top 10 in just about every sport year after year. Great students and even better athletes!!!
  16. Why is everyone jumping all over this young kid? He might be a little young in the tooth and said something dumb but I'm sure everyone on here was so mature and together at his age. Hell if anything the kid brought me a little hope this morning. I always thought Jim was going to be the next owner and this just makes my hope meter go up even further. Why else would Jim be so close with the team and Buffalo over the last several years? My guess is this has been in the works for a long long time...
  17. A few years back I ran in to Corey's dad in Charlotte NC. He came up to me in a restaurant because I was wearing a Bills hat. He was excited for his son and I remember he was hopeful that his son Corey would make the Bills squad at the time. He was very nice and extremely gracious to my family who was visiting me from Buffalo. Also, while I'm on here I also want to say that I bumped in to Eric Moulds ex father in law 2 years a go. I won't go in to detail about the things he shared with me but it definitely left me with a very negative impression on Eric Moulds the person.
  18. It's pretty obvious by the amount of playing time the Qb's got, who is staying and who is going. Nix said all off season that the team would bring in a veteran, they are not letting Thigpen go regardless of what he did in pre-season. Chan has worked with him and knows what he can get out of him. I like Brown, but I think he gets cut again but this time he won't be brought back.
  19. Fred Jackson has every right to say something. He hasn't been treated like the top back in the past few years and he had outperformed all his competition. On top of that he isn't get paid nearly what he should be for being the Bills most consistent offensive player over the last 2 or 3 years by a large margin. Fred blocks, catches and runs well. The Bills went with Lynch over him and now they are trying to push Spiller over him. The bottom line is the Bills drafted Spiller to be the #1 but he can't hold Jackson's jock strap. They are giving Spiller every chance to claim the #1 but it's obvious he is not better than Freddy. I wish they would just use Spiller to spell Jackson from time to time but you know that isn't going to happen unfortunately.
  20. please tell me Jackson is not going to get screwed again this year. I am already tired of watching Spiller regardless of the crappy blocking!
  21. Thanks for all the input guys, it sounds like he is a player to watch the next 3 games. To the guy who asked where I read that Batten had 2 sacks; it was on the ESPN box scores. I look forward to Saturday and watching the LB's battle. It will be nice to see Sheppard get in there soon and damn that defense looks so much bigger as a whole. What a turnaround in just 2 seasons, awesome!!!
  22. I have been hoping that Danny Batten could step up and make this team and hopefully one day become a solid OLB. I love his size and tenacity. I saw that he had 2 sacks. I'm guessing he looked pretty good, can anyone share what they saw from him last night or even thus far in camp?
  23. I am not a Kelsay supporter at all. I also think he is done this year. But one thing I will definitely say is that he is not small. The man has got great size and that's why I think he was on the team last year. We were so small that the coaches probably thought they had to keep him; why the dumb contract he received I don't know but we'll cut him and we won't see the majority of that money. Just so you know he is 6'4 265 as a LB. I'll give you that he is slow an not agile enough to be a LB, and zero cover skills. I think he was a much better backup lineman.
  24. I am not a Kelsay fan. I think he was a good back up defensive lineman and I think he plays well on the outside when they put him on the line. The problem is he is pokey and horrible in space. Teams know this and use this against him. He can't seal the outside against the run and he absolutely cannot cover anyone coming out of the backfield. If he is a starter on a defense then that is not a good sign of the talent level on your roster. I'm expecting to see him get cut before it's all said and done or at the very least be beat out by one of the younger guys.
