Stephon Gilmore Signed by the Bills
sirebors replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We were all born "surely." But I think what Roger Maris said was "I was born surly and I'm going to stay that way. Everything is tough in life." -
I have been reading this board almost continuously for the last month trying to garner as much information as possible concerning who the Bills might chose in the upcoming NFL draft. I have heard multiple theories that include such players as Ryan Tannehill, Matt Kalil, Justin Blackmon, Michael Floyd, Riley Reiff, Cordy Glenn, Jonathan Martin, Stephon Gilmore, Dre Kirkpatrick, and Luke Kuechly. For me the decision, and the decision I believe the Bills will make is a relatively easy one. I believe the Bills are more than happy with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. Last year he played amazingly well in the beginning of the season before he was hurt and the offense was devasted by injuries. These injuries included the offensive line, most notably the tackles and center (Eric Wood was a huge loss), the wide receivers, and the running backs. All of these players and positions were playing cohesively as a unit and playing at a very high level. I believe the Bills are also relatively ok with their left tackle Hairston, their wide receivers as long as they can stay healthy, and their cornerbacks, especially with an improved pass rush. The problem with the Bills was most notably the rush defense which was ranked 28th in the league and gave up an average of 139 yds per game, this and the lack of a pass rush. The shortages of pass rushers has been adequately addressed. The player that will help the rush defense the most and the player that the Bills will draft will be Luke Keuchly. His leadership, ability to read defenses, passion for the game, tackling prowess, and ability to cover in the passing game will make him an invaluable addition to this team. All of the other players and positions are also important but I think the biggest need and the biggest room for improvement is in the linebacking corp. We will address cornerbacks, tackles, a wide receiver and a quarterback in the successive rounds. Now actually to my question. Like I stated earlier I know all I need to know or care to know about all of the above players. What I am more concerned with learning about is day 2 players, and maybe even some day 3 players that the Bills may be serious in aquiring. I just got done looking at Mike Mayock's mock draft and saw that he had Jeff Allen OT Illinois ranked 36th, only 2 spots below Jonathan Martin. I've read smatterings of things about Jeff Allen but nothing that would allow me to adequately guage his value to the Bills. I have included a link that has helped a little and may prove inciteful to some. http://www.bloggingtheboys.com/2012/4/13/2941137/dallas-cowboys-2012-draft-prospects-illinois-tackle-guard-jeff-allen Now I would like to learn about any other players (including links to relevant articles) that anyone thinks would be possible and viable draft choices of the Bills on day 2 or 3. Any incite into this on the eve of the draft would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Insider: Gilmore grades as second-rounder
sirebors replied to sirebors's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And this, lol... Bills GM Buddy Nix says the wide receivers entering the league "get prettier every year." http://www.profootballweekly.com/2012/04/16/nfl-links-newton-showing-more-maturity -
Just some interesting anonymous observations: http://www.profootballweekly.com/2012/04/22/insider-gilmore-grades-as-second-rounder

http://www.profootballweekly.com/2012/04/17/nawrockis-contract-based-mock-draft I really hope it is Luke Kuechly.

Is the game televised this week by either a local network or the NFL network? And if so, when?

I haven't been to training camp in a couple of years. I plan on going today to try and obtain a Marcell Dareus autograph on a Dareus Crimson Tide jersey I own. I just have a few quick questions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Where do I park? Do I have to take transportation to get there? Do all players sign autographs after practice? Where is the best place to be or stand to maximize my chances of getting an autograph? What kind of pen is best for autographing a jersey. Do the players have the pens or do the fans bring their own? Do I need a ticket, if so are they available and where do u get one? Will I have a relatively good chance of getting Dareus' autograph or would the trip not be worth it? Any help with any or all of these questions would be greatly appreciated.

http://www.betvega.c...uper-bowl-odds/ 150/1 Since Vegas is not in the business of losing money, and it's doubtful that Carolina would take a QB 3 years in a row, it appears Buffalo is the frontrunner for the rookie QB of their choice in 2012. Even though I would be just as happy with Matt Kalil in the 1st round and Courtney Upshaw in the 2nd.

Donte Whitner compares himself to Jesus

Was Stevie Johnson really blaming Donte'? -
Well I would definitely like to have #30 LB Courtney Upshaw (alabama) and #76 OT Matt Kalil (usc)

I read that and didn't understand it either. Maybe he knows something we don't, lol. But PFW is generally pretty accurate with their mocks.

Who was the guy with all the inside info last year?

Who is the guy from Dallas that is supposed to be pretty accurate in his mocks? -
Did you happen to read the very first line of this post and/or look at the very first link?

I actually did watch Dontay Moch play this year and I, for one, was really not impressed. I saw a player who was really good at going straight ahead but was unable to change direction. He has phenomenal "track" statistics but as far as I was concerned he didn't appear to be a very good football player. I think he was able to beat certain players just because he is so much more superior to them athletically, but I think his shortcomings would be readily apparent in the NFL. I see Vernon Gholston in Dontay Moch.

I was concerned that Von Miller would be too small to be as dominant in the NFL as he was in college. After comparing him to other perennial pro bowlers this isn't nearly as much of a concern to me any more. So with that I would have to disagree that the numbers are "meaningless" from a combine. I think they can be used in conjunction with game film, interviews, past history, and tempermant to more accurately guage a players projected net worth. If the numbers were merely arbitrary then why would the NFL even have a combine? Why would so many GM's and coaches attend? Would it matter to you if Von Miller arrived at the combine at 215 lbs? How about 315? Would it matter if he ran a 10 second 3 cone drill where it became readily apparent that he couldn't change direction? Or was only able to bench 225 lbs 4 times? It's ludicrous to me that you think these things don't matter but every NFL team does.

I REALIZE PLAY ON THE FIELD IS MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE COMBINE, BUT ANY INFORMATION CAN BE VALUABLE. http://bleacherrepor...han-the-combine THEREFORE, MAKE YOUR OWN INFERENCES: WEIGHT 40 TIME 225 LBS SHUTTLE 3 CONE ------------- ------------- ------------- --------------- ------------- VON MILLER *** 246 LBS 4.42 21 REPS 4.06 6.70 AARON MAYBIN 248 LBS 4.78 22 REPS 4.38 7.52 ** CLAY MATTHEWS 240 LBS 4.62 23 REPS 4.18 6.90 BRIAN ORAKPO 263 LBS 4.63 31 REPS RIAN CUSHING 243 LBS 4.64 30 REPS (STEROIDS) 4.22 6.84 SHAWNE MERRIMAN 272 LBS 4.68 25 REPS TERRELL SUGGS 257 LBS 4.65 DEMARCUS WARE 251 LBS 4.56 27 REPS LAMARR WOODLEY 266 LBS 4.74 MARTEZ WILSON *** 250 LBS 4.42 23 REPS 4.28 7.04 PATRICK WILLIS 242 LBS 4.51 22 REPS 4.46 7.23 BRIAN URLACHER 258 LBS 4.59 27 REPS 4.18 6.94 JEROD MAYO 242 LBS 4.54 4.29 7.31 ROBERT QUINN 265 LBS 4.62 22 REPS 4.40 7.13 DWIGHT FREENEY 266 LBS 4.48 28 REPS VERNON GHOLSTON 266 LBS 4.65 37 REPS 4.40 7.12 DAQUAN BOWERS 280 LBS 4.64 22 REPS JULIUS PEPPERS 283 LBS 4.74 TAMBA HALI 275 LBS 4.87 MARCELL DAREUS 319 LBS 4.93 24 REPS ** 4.62 7.83 NICK FAIRLEY 291 LBS 4.84 ** 4.56 7.14 ** VINCE WOLFORK 323 LBS 5.21 36 REPS RICHARD SEYMOUR 299 LBS 4.95 NDAMUKONG SUH: 307 LBS 5.03 32 REPS 4.44 7.21 HALOTI NGATA 338 LBS 5.13 37 REPS 4.69 7.97 BJ RAJI 337 LBS 5.12 33 REPS 4.69 7.90 RYAN MALLETT 253 LBS 5.37 TOM BRADY 211 LBS 5.28 THINGS I OBSERVED: 1. Ok, you said you wait in line the previous day for a couple of hours and get the tickets around midnight. What time should you get in line to assure yourself tickets? Does everyone in line get tickets? You also said the next day they give out tickets randomly. To who? People that don't already have them? What about tickets for the subsequent draft days? Is that what you were talking about? I must admit I was having second thoughts until you posted your response. Now I am more excited and committed than ever. I apologize for not cut and pasting your response or pm' ing you but I am responding from my droid and it's more difficult. Any other advice, information would be greatly appreciated.

I am seriously considering attending the draft this year. My question is " has anyone attended in the past? " I have actually written the NFL and Radio City Music Hal and got this response: "The NFL had instructed us to inform guests that, as in past years, tickets will be distributed on a "first come, first served" basis. The exact date and times for the wristband distribution process will be announced by the NFL in early April. Fans can visit NFL.com our RadioCity.com at that time." From what I understand they do not sell or distribute tickets in advance. You have to stand in line the actual draft day you wish to attend and they are distributed first come/first serve. How difficult is it to actually get tickets on draft day? How much in advance do you have to stand in line? Is demand greater than tickets? Are a lot of fans turned away? I would like to know as much as possible before I arrange travel plans and then am unable to get tickets. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If someone is knowledge about the area and knows of some reasonable hotels that would be helpful as well. I am hoping to be there to see the Bills select Dareus or Quinn. Also how many actual fans are admitted? How much seating is there available for fans?

Kind of interesting. Another perspective... http://boards.giants.com/forums/thread/2075053.aspx A lot of Giants fans also want Poz. A Poz for Boss trade?
