12/8/24 Game 14 GAMEDAY! Bills vs Rams post game Thread

It’s not about being too proud, lol. We can’t stop the run. You’re right we have to blitz but when you don’t get home you risk long runs. -

We’ll have agree to disagree on this one. You shouldn’t have to blitz to stop the run. Pass blitzing was because we got zero pressure with 4 rushers. Good QBs will kill you if pass blitzes aren’t successful. They were embarrassed this week, so next week will probably look better but the deficiencies remain the same. -
McD will be the scapegoat to hide the real issue this week

Josh is the team, but that’s the same with any great player at QB. I disagree about the offense. The offense can control games. I agree 100% on the defense. Only a handful of players are good on that side. -

The Bills had to blitz yesterday to try and stop the run and pass. I know the pass blitzing was picked up pretty easily and you pay the price when it is. I saw the run blitzes make some stops. Not sure how that fared overall. The bigger point however, is that if that is how you’re relying on making stops, by having to sell out to apply pressure to the run or pass, your defense sucks. And our defense sucked yesterday. Blame the players or scheme or both but we sucked. Unfortunately this won’t be the last time you see a performance like this. -
The offense scored 42 points. It seems like they had urgency. Is he only talking about “his” unit, the defense?

If only we had scored 50 😩

Will we be in Super Bowl contention this year?
JimmyNoodles replied to bills6969's topic in The Stadium Wall
This question got asked one week too soon -
Of the 3 you mentioned, who have all been good, Benford has been tremendous this year. What a steal he turned out to be.
-
Always liked Rapp. A case could be made that he’s the MVP of the defense this year.

I like McD and think he is overall an excellent coach. On the negative side, he makes mistakes at critical times that has cost the team in big games. I personally hate the defense we run. Because the defense won’t change as long as he is here, I would still like a change. Of course, nothing would make me happier than to win it all this year and then he can stay forever and I’ll worship at the shrine that will be constructed in his honor!

What’s it gonna take to improve /prioritize our run defense?
JimmyNoodles replied to Jistafan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes, and anybody else we see in the playoffs. Run D will be a problem if we can’t maintain a lead. -
This team has done better than expected for me also. But, your points are spot on. We have been here before and collapsed at the end. This team has serious problems on defense for a championship run. The run D stinks and we have an average pass rush. We also have to contend with coaching brain farts at critical moments. Let’s see if the defensive weaknesses improve after the bye and if we can get the number 1 seed. This team is constructed, as in years past, that Josh has to be practically flawless to win. That’s hard to do across multiple playoff games.

Today Minny-Detroit, here’s how things were played. Minny needs a FG. No time outs. 15 seconds left ball at the 30. Detroit lined up 2 to rush. Best I could tell they rushed 1. Ball was completed to Minny 45 in bounds. They rush to spike. Have an alignment penalty and get 1 second on the clock. I personally didn’t follow how that worked but they have one last play with a second left at their 45. Detroit shows 3 rushing but blitzed with 5, I believe. Darnold sacked.

7 in coverage doesn't mean you have to concede anything. You could, as an example, play press on the two wide outs, while still playing off in other areas. I would also be chucking those receivers to screw up timing. McD's probelm is that he's always passive.
-
Agree on the bodies. You can add Coleman too. But, still don't like giving a QB whatever time they want to scan the field. Rodgers finally threw the ball when a LB came to add pressure. Rush four, drop seven and the ball comes out much faster. No time to pick and choose what you're going to do.
-
Something is seriously wrong with McD in these situations. You can't rush 2 when the QB can reach the endzone. Maybe if they were on their own 20, but not from there. Rodgers had all day. And, how about some bigger bodies back there.

Hollins is looking inside the whole time, so seems to me it's supposed to a throw to that side. The throw was terrible. That being said, do people dive to make catches anymore? I would have liked to see Hollins lay out for it. I'm sure he would have dropped it anyway, but would like to see the effort.

Belichick or McDermott. Who's the better coach?
JimmyNoodles replied to Returntoglory's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bellicheat is too busy boinking a 26 year old. McD can’t get it done. Tie for “meh.” -
The division sucks, which is the only hope. But really, who cares? This team is going nowhere fast. I like Beane and McD as people but they are out of time. Just too many mistakes with the roster and coaching. Got to make changes when this year is over.

The Bills are soft, soft, soft on defense and have been for years. However, the offense suprised me last night with the lack of physicality in their play as they can bring it at times up front. That hit by the Raven's lineman was legal (though excessive) in my mind. What I didn't like is that no one jumped in there to defend Josh. Perfect time for an on field fight. We know how this movie ends and it won't be with a Super Bowl victory. The Bills have ben exposed as pretenders again. And for those who say this is an overreaction, you haven't been paying attention. Unwanted advice....1) Pegula! Wake the F-up!!! You need to change the front office and coaching staff after this year. 2) Josh, you don't deserve this nonsense. If #1 doesn't happen, you need to get off this shipwreck and save yourself as soon as possible. You don't owe the Bills a damn thing. Flame away and wake me when we win the Super Bowl. I'll be watching every game like I have for the past 55 years and probably drinking more. Cheers!

On Carolina, I live near there and don't think there's too much chance they'll leave. This is one of the fastest growing areas in the country. The area is definitely a college basketball market first, but there is support for the Panthers. They just need a some wins. Not too many fans are rabid followers of teams of failure (like Bills fans, lol).

Daniel Jones leaving the stadium to intense heckling
JimmyNoodles replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
While not condoning the behavior, I think this was some pretty low level heckling. "Give me a million" and some light boos. I think Jones will be survive. I was expecting death threats or something.
