What an awful thread. Stop it. Bills will run it and play defense for 60 minutes. They can do both probably better than most in NFL, so lets just see how it goes

Hindsight is worthless. they are trying to build a team. They are doing well. How they QB the next 4 weeks will tell the tale.

Given my name on this board, I feel compelled to reply to this one. I've held to the popular notion that the Bills are just good enough to avoid being great. No high franchise changing draft picks due to consistent 5-6-7 win seasons; no big Free Agent signings because of the no-playoff nature of this franchise and hey, what 20-something NFL playboy wants to play on a losing franchise in, well, Buffalo, NY. Honestly. We think its an OK place but it is viewed as this not so much by the rest of the country and of course by NFL players' peers. So.... you have a perpetual "8 - 8 Forever" , give or take, kind of situation. Looks at Levitre and Byrd, just the latest edition of "one and done" contract -wise. They're trapped b/c they were drafted into the b lo, but their agent gets em out of town at the first opportunity. This just perpetuates the 8-8 phenomenon. they need the "big breakthrough" ... maybe this is the year. seems like not, but maybe. I just see more departures in free agency after this year.. Carrington, and others.. We shall see. This franchise starts behind the 8 ball. Maybe they can get out from behind it.

Its Sunday, they are off today. They will write the story tomorrow. Which I applaud , actually. Actually, we are the insane ones hanging on every text to see who the f ing punter is going to be

This is a big boy business. Bills are rebuilding (and now that is even delayed) and Byrd is in his prime. This is a direct result of blowing everything up in the off season. Not saying that wasn't the right thing to do, but they had to know there would be unintended consequences. This is one of them.
-
Can you imagine? Jarius f ing Byrd for Ryan Nassib? How far this franchise has fallen.
-
That would put such a charge into the locker room, fanbase and the franchise it would be unbelievable. First ballot hall of famer showing up on his white horse, with a good running game, O Line and defense. Why not? This season has gone from "rebuild and wait" to "win now" with one knee injury. Favre can win now. Guy can make every throw better than anyone not named Manning or Brees and everyone in that locker room knows it. Why not? Its only temporary and everyone would understand it. Unless its Freeman, anyone who takes the next 2 months is gone next year anyway. I love it. Favre is outstanding.

I actually think Pat White or certainly Josh Freeman, would for the next month, be an upgrade over EJ. The kid is a raw rookie while White, and certainly Freeman know what they are doing in the NFL. If Freeman comes, which I doubt, our prospects actually improve for this season, no doubt. Freeman vs. EJ for October, at this moment I take Freeman hands down. Pat White can play. I live in D.C., and Shanahan really liked him, but he had an injury right around final cuts and he was a victim of his injury. If Shanahan says someone can play, they can play. So I am not so sure all is lost, this team was going to be a run and play defense team anyway, none of that changes. Just need someone to throw 20 balls a game .

At what point do the delusions begin?

umm... this is too rational . Maybe their should be a standing thread for rationalism, the rest of the board for insane fandom. maybe the moderators can create this. -
You know, that could actually happen. Trent f ing Edwards. Moreso than Freeman, moreso than White. Although Pat White is intriguing.... sort of

Gilmore and Byrd (and Brooks) all back for Cincy
8-8 Forever? replied to wnysteel's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Probably. And that is close to exactly how it will be said. On the other hand, they could totally grow a pair, Sign Freeman and declare themselves contenders. ooohh, that second statement sounds so much better.... and will inspire the locker room. Love EJ , but Freeman can play right NOW... -
I would go with Tuel vs. Cinci, that bed is made IMO. After that, who knows. Could be anyone. not sure how you get a QB up to speed in 5 or 6 days.

Well, this was a rebuilding year. I personally am looking forward to this team making a run over the last 8 games. 3-5 for first 8 games, then 5-3 last 8 for 8 and 8 record, that would be great progress and keeps them in the hunt all year. The best we get to anticipate. They could also lose out vs. bengals, fins and Saints, too, for 2 and 6. Don't need a QB to run the ball, so maybe I am too pessimistic, heck the Browns did it with Brian f ing Hoyer and Willis, McG for goodness' sake !!

The Bills have Released Punter Shawn Powell
8-8 Forever? replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He'll be an all pro somewhere else probably, but right now something had to be done. This another reason why no one drafts kickers or punters. We drafted Powell right? -
I'm liking this team for 2nd half of season with everyone back. Then we will know what we have. This roster is a triage ward. Are the Bills the most injury prone team in the league? or am I imagining things and in fact every team has 6 or 7 starters out or limited every single week?.
-
Oh please. The secondary is a bunch of arena league players and you're looking for picks. I get the point on Tuel but in-game QB switch outs rarely go well on the road with raw rookies. Not sure I can ever remember one. Rookie comes in on the road... nope, can't think of one. That will be fixed, along with LG, TE, etc in FA and the draft. They are building a team. AND IN spite of all the problems, Without the EJ injury the pick 6 and the punt return TD, they win the game. I like what i saw . This is not a playoff team yet. They blew it all up and are starting over. Let's all start dealing with reality please.
-
They did everything I hoped a team full of rookies and new guys would do fought to the end and got screwed when their QB took a shot and went down. Backup QBs never do well coming in cold on the road like that, especially off a no-practice short week. Good progress. We got some good players on this team. If we can get a few of them on the field we'll be in good shape.

What Do We Need To Do To Beat The Browns?
8-8 Forever? replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
rushing yards and winning the turnover trade are the swing variables in just about every NFL game. Everyone saying the Giants suck. From scrimmage they anything but suck. but they have 16 turnovers in 4 games. that is the single reason they are 0 -4 . The NFL is all about turnovers and short fields on offense.
