Fred Jackson signs contract extension

Need guys like that on a team. Willing to commit to one team. Set an example that it is a good place to be. Defuses some of the agent flaming that the $$ are the most important thing. Guy has 4 kids. Gotta like that . Leadership. Not enough of that on NFL rosters. -
Buffalo is winning the AFC East Division this year.

That would be great. They need to get lucky with Injuries and turnover ratio; they need to do what KC did last year. Could happen. Why not? But EJ's not going to become a miracle worker in his 1st full season. Don't do the game by game matchup analysis though... it makes no sense. All the Bills opponents do the same thing and every one of them has the Bills game down as a "W" with something like, "EJ will crumble at some point and Bills become the Bills....." -
Let's Make a Statement This Weekend

yes it is naive, but hey you go and tear it up. its the HOF game, for crying out loud, 90% of the nation is tuned out by the end of the 1st qtr. certainly can't hurt, other than to further showcase the "dog pound" image of Bills fans and by extension, Buffalo in general that the national media likes to portray... wait.. maybe it can hurt...hold off the chants, painted hard hats and jean cut-offs until the 2nd half when no one is watching.. on the other hand, if the shoe fits........ -

Mike Schopp said something today that had me wondering...

Bills have a lot to prove before anyone in the media (even their own) comes over to their side. Reality. Win and all the problems with the media go away -
Bills officially for sale - let the bidding begin!

I wonder why Trump thinks he is out of it? If the team is required to stay in WNY with no way out, that should depress the value of the team to a point where Trump should be competitive... must be something else. BTW , whatever happened to the real Kirby Jackson (the player)? -
Bills officially for sale - let the bidding begin!

Um, hello, this is an auction process. Competing bidders do not get to collude with each other, unless the seller allows it after a competitive process has broken down (which with 4-5 bidders is not going to happen IMO-- this is blood sport with big $$ involved). Defeats the purpose of getting the highest price. That is the objective here. MS wants them to compete with each other to drive the highest price (hopefully from the bidder the seller wants). Simple. This is business, not some feel-good corrupt keep- the- Bills -in -B Lo love fest. This is why at some level you need to consider the Toronto group a threat. Money talks in an auction process. And money gives sellers in an auction process excuses they would not otherwise have ("... hey they outbid Pegs by 25% and he did not respond.... " , we had no choice, blahblah ). Hard for me to imagine JerryJones and crowd leaving a couple hundred million in bid price on the table for the sake of keeping the team in in B Lo, but hey KirbyJackson says its a lock for B Lo, so what are we worried about and why are we up to what has to be a record 42 pages of posts on this topic....? -
If this is all true, then this is EJ's make or break year: If he makes: the team wins 8-10 games and Maybe, just maybe a softer, "hometown discount" owner like Pegula keeps the staff for another year and EJ can continue to be nurtured by the guys who drafted him and maybe "get it" and becomes a star If he breaks: his career is over. why? Team goes 6-10, coaching staff that drafted him replaced top to bottom with guys who (a) did not draft him and (b) will be hard on him, which EJ will internalize given his fragile ego, leading to more mistakes, multiple teams and ultimate exit from the league before he "gets it" wow.

If Hogan is decent on Special Teams, he stays and its between TJ and Easley, IMO. Easley gave up a lot on KO returns last year. Basically, if Hopkins is kept b/c he kicks 3/4 out of the end zone, Easley is gone. If they go with one kicker, then Easley probably stays. Hogan needs to be Hopkins best friend, IMO

Never forget. YOU are the Buffalo Bills

Well...I think the fans have pretty much done their part this century. Time for the franchise to do theirs. Lovely sentiments, though...... -
Makes sense. Won't get much as CJ is a FA at year end. But maybe a 3rd or 4th. If it is sign and trade deal, then maybe a 2nd. First is out of the question in any scenario. Pass first league. Running backs are like Safeties. Replaceable. Worse than safeties , as RBs only last 5 or 6 years . I would trade him. We will never sign him to what he will want. he will want whatever Marshawn Lynch gets and some crazy agent will have him hold out, then he will rip a hammy as soon as he gets back. RBs are 4-5 years and then gone in this league. just the way it is. the RB wants to get that big second deal once their cheap rookie deal is up. I love the way Whaley has handled this, getting bryce brown and the guy from SF. Big boy business. Trade him for a 2nd mid season to a team whose #1 goes down. Love it. and you are forgetting that they will never be able to re-sign him and he will walk for no compensation. that is reality from a front office perspective ; that is unacceptable and bad front office management. so you move him when you can get something for him. RBs are expendable in a pass-first league... see Knowshon Moreno

Yes indeed. It's all about #3 this year. Watkins deal was a good move by a team that needed to upgrade its talent in a pass first league. Pretty simple stuff.

CJ Spiller contract (Jamaal charles deal)

Pretty sure CJ will be sent packing. New ownership will shred this place and put their own people in who will have zippo loyalty to any player or coach or front office guy. Things they will be a changing -

Ok good. Time will tell.

Thanks. I am more focused on getting a great owner who will attract great coaching and player talent. The Bills have been operating like the local rugby club for 15 years. Fun to be around and great for management and players, but the product on the field is more lovable than successful. Permanent last place, but the tailgates are great -- gee that is satisfying--um... not. The NFL is a big boy league. The Bills are the laughingstock of the league. Just step out of WNY for 5 minutes and say "Buffalo Bills" and everyone starts snickering, either at the word "Bills" or the word "Buffalo". Sorry, its true. I've witnessed it for 35 years. I don't even try to defend the team or the area anymore. I know better, but no one is buying it. Even if the team turns it around, people still poop on the area itself. Just to have a team is not good enough anymore. We need to change the game. I believe the (easily) 50%+ of Bills fans who no longer live in the area are more interested in the team attracting top talent and joining the big boys of the league. I am not at all convinced WNY or bankrupt NYS will pay for a $1B stadium in WNY, not at all (an early poster said the stadium "will be owned and operated by the county and the state" --- really, you think that is going to happen... ? I'll take the under on that). The new owner and/or a wealthy metropolis will be paying for most of a new stadium me thinks. A Billion $$ stadium 6 years from now with all the bells and whistles on the southeast end of Toronto (CNE grounds would be nice -- easy hop from the B Lo) or right on top of Niagara Falls (easy access from Toronto- where the money is) make sense to me. We need (a) the Toronto market's cash and (b) the WNY fan passion to make this team competitive and fun long term. We just need to make it feel close enough where the Buffalo residents don't feel left out. But the reality is the fan cash is going to come from Toronto and Rochester, not from Erie County. Those two places are where the money is. One thing is for sure. Things will not be the same.
-
Makes sense only if Pegula is willing to give the largest hometown discount in the history of professional sports; both overpay for a WNY team by at least 25% AND build a stadium that won't pay off in his lifetime . Hope he , or a group he puts together to share the financial pain, does it, but it won't be done for business reasons -- its a gift . Which is fine with me. But don't expect much of a team, as they will be run like a corner store from a financial standpoint with the owners having blown all their football dough on a overpaying for the team and building an L.A. scale stadium with no tailgating in WNY. And ticket prices will double at least and PSLs will be introduced. The grounds of the CNE still looking as bad to you?? Things will never be the same. That much is for sure.
