  1. I'm with Rubes. Moving franchises rarely happens.. someone surfaces, something happens. some of this is posturing perhaps, negotiations via the media. we shall see. thank you Pegs.
  2. yeah, they'll do what they have been telegraphing by the signing of Hughes: take the 15mil/yr they save by having no franchise qb and create the best defense and running game they possibly can. not the best formula, but for 2015/16 that's all there is. and bring Greg Roman and David Lee in and get everything they can out of EJ and whoever else is brought in. good management approach. I like it. its not the best SB strategy, but it is a proven winning strategy.
  3. omg, a guy named "Jesse James", on the "Buffalo Bills". playing special teams, running down returners no less.... get er done...
  4. the skyway? tear it down. the niagara thruway? what a stupid idea. yeah the design was great a hundred years ago, then idiots took over and butchered it. its great asset is the shore and they either poisoned it or butchered access to it. lots more to do, but it will get down when the new peace bridge is done, which is like a hundred years from now. have a soft spot for the place and grew up there, but never going back. no political will. bunch of provincial losers running the place. sad. if it wasn't for irrationally generous business guys like Pegs , the place would be in even worse shape
  5. Whaley is playing this correctly. With no obvious answer at QB, build the best D you can , now. and Run the ball. I see RB drafted #2 for sure now. Spiller walks. Searcy stays. who knows on Spikes, probably gone which is too bad, but this is the NFL. We have a quality team at OBD for the first time in 20 years. get your popcorn out. and pray the David Lee can coach up EJ quickly. I am now convinced that once Ralph passed on, Marrone went to Orton to give him (Marrone) the best shot at a short term winning record at the expense of the franchise, so he could get another HC gig once the new owners walked away from him. exactly. I can be done. Seattle does it this way for the most part as well. Run the ball and play defense and ST. The media builds up Russell Wilson, and he is very good, but he is not the #1 reason they succeed.
  6. Yes, I could see RB at #2. you can plug and play drafted RBs. not many positions in the NFL anymore where you can do that. FA for all else (TE, OL, QB) . Yes. good post. As long as they hit FA hard and win some good players, drafting RB 2 or 3 makes sense.
  7. same in DC, Rams, half the freakin league don't have a winning option at QB.
  8. I don't know. they still might get Bradford but I have to doubt it....lets see what they come up with. EJ is not a great option, but may be the only one.
  9. yep. thats the way it is here in DC. Snyder is the GM and always will be. like jerra in dallas. the team is all they do..
  10. exactly. worst gigs in professional sports. A. only two teams to cover B. they both have sucked for 90% of their careers... can you imagine attending industry conferences and events being guys who cover b lo franchises? the defense mechanisms they must have to employ to maintain their sanity must spill over into their on air mentality. the siege mentality all bills/sabres fans have ...they have to wrap their employment around it. These teams need to start winning.... that is the only cure for this disease....
  11. boy the offseason is slow
  12. Agree. But they do need another QB body when OTAs start. Unless its Cutler or someone like that, I don't care who they bring in; I am then assuming EJ is the guy in 2015 . amazing to say that I know, but who out there will be any better? honestly? Bad year for FA QBs and the draft is empty. If they can get Foles, sure, but Philly is not giving him up. No one with quality QBs is letting them get away. If they do, they become the Bills.
  13. I think having a real NFL coaching staff this year, plus the best qb coach in the league, will help EJ. I did not think he was bad before he got hurt, frankly for his experience level. He doesn't get hurt in 2013 in Cleveland, and we're what, 3-2 and he's on his way. that injury was a big setback for him. I don't see them bringing anyone in that is great, plus ditching the college coaches for real NFL coaches will give EJ a fresh start. We shall see.
  14. neither will be available, so doesn't matter
  15. We need to pray EJ gets it this year. No draft choice will be able to do it. There really is no one else who will be available, as all the teams (Saints, Rams, ,etc) all know they'd be nuts to let their QB go. If they did, then they would be in the same spot the bills are in.
  16. yeah this is bad. between the Bills and the local Redskins, nothing but "how can we save the franchise" nonsense... February/March is tough No. Don't need the distraction. Kid ended his own career. Not sure he was a player anyway.
  17. I have no idea where QB is going to shake out. Hopefully they have a plan. No QB, no success.
  18. Well, that's always going to be the case. they will need to prove it and prove it again on the field for things to change with rankings and awards and the kind of media coverage that makes them happen... just the way it will be for them... takes time. no one in the 20 and 30-something age group media pays any attention to this franchise.....
  19. anyone who is negative on Sammy simply is not paying attention.
  20. going from 9 to 4, yep that's about what it should cost. The price was the correct price, the question is was Sammy vs the others worth the cost. We shall see. Evans, Beckum overperformed. We shall see what they do when coverage rolls their way they way it did day 1 for Watkins. As far as I can tell , neither Giants nor Bucs were anywhere near the playoffs last year. We probably overpaid, but given the state of the franchise in Ralph's final days (ie no top talent FAs, coaches , etc interested in coming ) the team needed talent and the draft was the only path to great talent. We overpaid for Mario , but that is what it took in those days with this particular franchise. Now we have deep pocketed, reliably alive ownership, the high profile staff we never could/would have hired 2 years ago , so things have changed. Go bills.
  21. Peyton Manning. Replay of Montana to the Chiefs 25 yrs ago. Why not? Fix the OLine and get Manning. The guy lifts all ships. Expensive as h-ll, but so what? Let EJ watch a Hall of Famer for a year. Love that.... NYets . LOL. a keeper. Yes, this could work as well. But to have Peyton Manning, even for one year... omg gotta do it.
  22. yeah but who knows with any certainty which team has a "shot at a championship". the bills with top 10 quarterbacking have a shot at the championship, IMO. worked for Az. with a supposedly washed up Carson Palmer, right? Az no better than the Bills outside of QB.
  23. yes indeed my friend. would take him in a nanosecond... kinda like when KC took Montana years ago and he took them to the AFC Title game (where we shwacked 'em, but that's a different topic).
  24. EJ needs to turn it around. Don't see anything much better out there. We'll know where they are going in a month or so..
  25. Whaley has been right on FAs a lot more than he's been wrong for quite a while now. Let the man do his job. He's a scout, he and his team locate talent .. and they seem pretty good at it. Screw the politics. Marrone did his little deal , everyone got what they wanted and he's gone. New days ahead after a long long wait. RIP Ralph. Go Bills. New era.
