TOD: 7/16: Shady, good trade and contract?
8-8 Forever? replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
sure glad they have him now, with fatty Karlos out for 4 games (it will take him until October to get in shape anyway). Whaley is a genius, loading up on quality RBs in the offseason and resigning the O Line. go bills. no worries here. -

Andrew Luck signs new contract with Colts.

a good reason to try and sign TT now, even if taking a risk... Let a Gilmore deal ride for now and sign TT for 14-15 m and be done with it ? -
Correct. When Ralph died (or when ownership changes in general) , that was it for the entire coaching staff. It gets blown up and you start over. Just the way it goes. As regards, DCs and OCs who are former HC, Its up or out. Schwartz was denied and that was it. The guy doesn't want to be a DC. He wants another HC gig and is prepared to wait for it. At this level, OCs and DCs have plenty of dough, they can't be forced to do anything.

we are also re building special teams. you'll see lots of RBs and LB bodies around who can do that. -
Johnny Manziel (update: waived by Browns)

Distraction. No. I kinda like the guy's football skills, I really do, but he is screwed up big time. too much success way too early for him... head case -
The Cavs-Bills comparisons have begun
8-8 Forever? replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
well, winning starts to cure everything... however remember if the Bills start winning, we will have to endure 24 months of media saying " the Bills finally ended the world's longest playoff drought..." , then 24 more months of the national media saying " playoff team yes, but man it snows a lot in Buffalo, doesn't this place just suck" , only after this will it become , "wow this is just like Pittsburgh, great fans, great game atmosphere, loyal fans, 4 SBs in a row, screw the weather", blah blah. it will take 2-4 years of winning consistently before the national media narrative of "Buffalo sucks in so many ways" changes.. best they start winning now to begin this process...keep the cash flowing Pegs... go bills! -
well, whatever. if the Bills excel, then they'll have a 'best teams in the worst places' and the Bills will be #1 again. just let it go. there is no hope for this kind of poll. Jimmy Griffin and his abysmal handling of the Blizzard of '77 permanently entrenched WNY's national "suck" image and ensured WNY is the national media's example #1 of winter in the US. what's done is done. go bills. it's just us guys. no one else will support the Bills or the area. don't expect the love anytime soon. go bills. go win some games.

Bills ought to bring Michael Vick as consultant
8-8 Forever? replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
TT could school Vick at this point. -
Well, in fairness, they both will get paid; neither one will suffer at all. I simply believe they will be on different teams next year. Is there a team in the league that is covering max or near max salaries at QB, CB, TE, LT, RB , Edge rusher, DT and WR (Watkins need to be paid next year too) all at the same time? I don't need to be a cap ologist to not see TT and SG both fitting under the cap without gutting the rest of the team (eg. Watkins). I'd rather have Sammy than SG.

Dareus All-In with Rex Ryan's Defense
8-8 Forever? replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yes you are. but the average drunken tailgate Bills fan will still keep their Jim Schwartz posters on the wall, thankful that Vince Lombardi isn't alive to see what's 'happened' to 'real defense' in the NFL -
the media will make hay on this one. we'll be hearing it on every game this year. get used to it now
-
The way the CBA severely limits practice time, you can't in fairness fire coaches in less than 3 years, IMO; changing entire coaching staffs these days normally has devastating effects on teams early on, especially when the brand new schemes are extremely complex. Unless you hire someone with simple, college type schemes (ring a bell , anyone?) that players have seen before and have no trouble adapting to. Of course, then you get killed on the field because everyone else knows the simple schemes and how to attack them. Choose your poison. Interchangeable coaches mean simple schemes; get unique coaches with unique schemes, get used to the fact you'll have them for 3 or 4 years to see if the players can win with them. my take.

I would need to understand the team's salary cap situation. My assumption is they cannot afford both TT and SG at near max numbers, meaning they cannot reasonably sign SG now and must wait until they know what they will do with TT. If the cap hit for both is somehow manageable (which is hard to imagine, with Shady, Dareus, Glenn, Hughes, etc, then yes hang out until the last minute get the best deal , then he goes out and gets hurt immediately (which always happens to holdouts), lose the season and go from there. This SG thing cannot end well. SG ends up either franchised/pissed/unproductive, gone or hurt. Can't trade him bc he's not signed. These things always go this way with DBs. Look at the history. I would let him walk, hate to say it, but he is not a top 5 guy, maybe top 10 maybe but in Rex' defense, don't need top 10 corners. Ball comes out too fast for it to matter. Plus Watkins will probably have a great season and will need to be signed soon and WR is critical position in today's NFL.

The Mighty Taco Bowl. Media can call it "the 'Mighty' ". Perfect for WNY.

8-8 Forever? replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
eliminate kickoffs...eliminating wedge blocking pretty much eliminated the long runback and the kickers have pretty much eliminated runbacks in general, the kickoff is a laughable part of any nfl game.. hate to think what newcomers to the game think of it eliminates 5 commercials and keeps the flow of the game... nothing worse than what happens after a TD in the NFL... its 10 minutes before the the next play from scrimmage . make that even 5 minutes and it would be a big improvement
