  1. what!? Aaron Williams, Kyle Williams , the only two leadership guys on defense , who hardly saw the field, sidelines or locker room last year are back, and the cancer Mario Williams is gone... plus upgrade in coaching the Rex D with Rob and Ed Reed. plus they know the D now (did not know it last year) . Always amazed at how mentally destroyed bills fans can always find the negative...always this is the best roster + coaching staff + O and D schemes this franchise has enjoyed since the days of Wade Phillips
  2. No you are wrong. No chance they get fired after this year. Defense is scheme and personnel. Rob had no players, hence the disaster. and N.O. defense will suck again this year for that same reason. Rex screwed up last year by mixing the old scheme with his in deference to the players who were mentally slow and/or reluctant to go with the Rex D. Blame the "no practice time" CBA for that. All first year staffs are screwed, especially those with unique schemes (like Rex and Roman). No it is pure bred Rex defense this year, baby Mario is gone, and everyone gets it (so i am told). Pegs will give him 4 or 5 years or until this roster unravels for salary cap reasons. Then you can change. Knee jerking coaches in and out is stupidity.
  3. Because Pegs and Whaley killed 2015 by replacing the coaching staff, but now the players now by all indications 'get' the offense and defense after a wasted 2015 "training camp" season of frankly, learning by both players and coaches (thanks to the "no more practice time sorry guys" new CBA) , no QB competition this year with a clear high end starter identified early (no idea last year) , and our talent at key positions is still top 10 in the league. and the local media just goes "same old bills" let's ignore the above and just toss an 8-8 out there. the national media (who pay no attention to this franchise at all) do a better job of prognosticating. it's lame. sorry. lame. the facts indicate that optimism is warranted by what look to me like material improvements in the teams' situation (not just Rex talk) for the first time in a long time. yeah, 5 starters could go on IR by week 3 and these guys will be vindicated, but on paper the team is materially better prepared for this year and just as talented. I don't get the pessimism already on freakin labor day.
  4. how do you figure a middle of the pack offense... ? not sure there is anything more to add on this offense.. now they just need to stay healthy and go do it on the field and not turn the ball over... you can have the greatest players in the world, but if you put it on the ground 3 or 4 times and or have 10+ big penalties you will lose the game every time.
  5. well , three strikes and you're out. Gaughan, Sully and Skurski have 'em .500 or worse... lame. my cat can throw a 8-8 prediction out there (and I don't even have a cat)
  6. Blurting a number out is silly; if the talent is and stays healthy , 10-6 at least. lose 30-40 games of key positional talent , kiss it goodbye (like most teams without HOF QBs), the NFL formula is pretty simple in the age of relative talent parity: have scheme stability, have talent and stay healthy at the 6 or 7 key talent positions, get top 10 QB play and win the turnover battle , and you'll win 10 games or more... the rest of it is a wash IMHO. I think the Bills may just have all this in house for the first time in many many years.
  7. two of the smallest NFL markets? are you kidding me? who starts these threads? this is why I have the ticket. great post by promo, the ticket is free for first week for DTV subscribers
  8. 6-10 is Sully's prediction. Gaughan, now him... Why is everyone so down on this team? We actually have a quality starting QB, the roster is healthy (Shady, Kyle, Aaron) and is as good or better than last years and they have the systems down now. Top ten talent (we'll see if they perform at that level) at all key NFL positions. Until the injuries pile up and trash everything, What's not to like? I don't see a healthy roster 6-10. No way.
  9. just hoping for health this year among the starters. get that, and they will be good. don't get it, and 8-8 we go again... this team needs a break for one stinking season
  10. very good. top 10. but that's true for any team who hopes to make the playoffs. next question?
  11. doesn't make much sense, tell me who is injured and who wins the turnover ratio and then I'll have the basis for a prediction. to assume healthy rosters doesn't make any sense.. straight up prediction with 100% healthy key starters all season and equal turnovers gained and lost each game, I see a 10-6 season, sweep the home games outside of AZ and Pitt, and split the road games (lose @ balt; sea; NE; Cini) ; the roster and coaching is that good. but of course my scenario is irrelevant bc turnovers generally decide games and injuries determine the overall W/L trend of the team. eg. still think Vikes will be better than .500? not me.
  12. long time customer.. when you go back for a freebie the third or fourth time they do pretty much blow you up.
  13. yeah I was at the game and EJ was a total gamer, totally focused, playing with shlubs like Dez Lewis and Greg Little who can't f ing catch well thrown balls. he was consistently rallying the team of nobodies and would have won the game had the refs not called a bogus PI on Little in the end zone . Plus he played with schlubs vs. Redskins starting D into the 2nd half . Pray that Glenn and Cogs are OK. I'm an EJ fan. Had he not gotten himself blown up as a rookie in that Thursday night Browns game he might still be the starter and Marrone/ Schwartz might still be around. Not sure if that's better than what we have now, but it wouldn't have been any worse , at least up to now....
  14. agreed. Seattle away would be tough for the 85 Bears, but the rest? Just NFL games. I'll take my 53 against 9 out of 10 NFL teams this year. Injuries and turnover ratio tell the tale. Stay healthy at key positions and win the turnover ratio and you win a pile of games against anyone. Assuming the OL, Kyle and A Williams healthy by Week 1, where are the weaknesses on this team? LB? don't think so, the scheme covers them up. QB? are you kidding? He goes to the next level this year. WR? nope. RB ? have a top 5 guy. TE? Same. DB? have the best pair in the league.... Teams? nope, whaley did a great job rebuilding that area. DL? no weakness there based on preseason. go bills. sorry, I am not blue skying.. this team is pretty loaded on paper
  15. Sure we're all bruised up from season after season of no playoffs, but for Mark Gaughan to simply punt before the season starts when the team looks pretty much solid and healthy is just lame, right?
  16. That's about 3-4 wins gone right there. well, we've had our share. that's life in today's NFL. QB goes down, season over b4 it starts. fact of life. move on.
  17. my impression is that preseason games need to go away. I was there and our 2's and 3's were playing their 1's well into the third quarter at most skill positions, so who the hell knows what to think of " how they did". no clue. it was varsity vs. JV for most of the game.
  18. well, he's your #2, so get used to it
  19. I forget the roster cutdown numbers and dates, but if there is any flexibility, I can see teams keeping max bodycount simply to feed the bottom 22 to the beyond meaningless and dangerous 4th preseason game... the day is coming. I hope Rex plays this QB he just signed the entire game and runs the ball or screen passes every down, run all safe plays simply to kill the clock and get out of there. drive every kickoff out of bounds to avoid injuries... someone needs to make a point that these games need to end
  20. flutie was terrific. those couple teams were very good....
  21. well, that caps off his football career... maybe he's positioning himself for liberal politics, may be smarter than we think. watch him show up on the ballot in Cali. somewhere within the next couple years
  22. pretty bad QB draft class that was... as predicted... but hey they got paid beyond their abilities and should be happy... not paid enough to pull a john carlos during the national anthem but paid well nevertheless
  23. yeah, they have a very very good roster this year but.. but... something will probably break this year, who knows what that will be this year, but its always something, usually injuries to key starters or piles of turnovers or penalties. something... always something...
