i guess maybe,,, but ownership sticking Lynn with EJ and getting 8 in the box against solid Jets D as a result is like tying an arm and a leg behind his back and telling the team we are not interested in winning this game... right? . who knows. top guys won't want this HC job with 4 or 5 other more attractive jobs (with better QBs) to be available. not sure we don't go with Lynn for low $$ , go get a good DC and go from there. that's my bounce on this.
-
yeah, forget today. the season ended last week when Rex couldn't even ice the kicker effectively. everything after that is meaningless. totally meaningless. let it all go. lets go get a coaching staff and prep for the draft. looks like a competitive roster but as long as the GOAT and Belichick are in NE, playoffs will required 11 wins.... not sure how this team gets there... we shall see
-
fine. lets just do this and move on with some continuity on offense and better look on D. I'm footballed out for now.
-
Correct. That is what I am hoping for. We shall see. To bring in an entirely new coaching staff (which is what always happens when you hire a new HC from the outside) would condemn the franchise to reaching 20 years of missing the playoffs, given that you burn 1 to 2 years just learning completely different schemes and turning the roster over to fit the new schemes. I for one cannot stomach any more of that.

Bills are a joke of an organization
8-8 Forever? replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They intended to fire Rex after missing playoffs on Sunday. The TT contract liability forced them to do it 7 days early bc Rex intended to play TT against Jets. Bills didn't want a TT injury to force them to exercise the TT option b4 new coach/Whaley/Pegs decided if they wanted to keep TT. Obviously, the TT decision hasn't been made since a new coach is coming. This is not dumpster fire material. What they did makes perfect sense to me. It's a super slow week in the NFL media so they made a big deal out of it. Putting Whaley, et al at the podium to answer undecided questions would have been a bigger fiasco than what they did do. Damned if you do and damned if you don't. Whatever.. this will be off the front page and forgotten within days. Who cares what national media says, Bills will continue to be a sideshow to national NFL network coverage until they start winning. Probably better that way. Just a slow news week in the NFL. Let it go. -
Anthony Lynn: Should he be the next head coach?
8-8 Forever? replied to TallskiWallski83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Correct. Well said. Lynn is leaving for HC job somewhere, so we should grab him before he is gone. -
already changed mine. Rex out, Lynn in. New DC. Offense can work. Rex D is too difficult to execute. Gimme a straight 4-3 and beat the crap out of people.
-
out with Ryans, in with Lynn before Rams, Jags or Bengals grab him. strike now. he will be gone by mid January if OBD does not act.
-
I would replace with Lynn on Monday. This is not his offense. It is Roman's. Give Lynn an offseason and get a new DC in here and go from there.

The "Vote on firing Rex" poll
8-8 Forever? replied to 8-8 Forever?'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
that's why it is so revealing that, despite the largely anti-Rex sentiment on this site (even after wins), 60% of this sites' participants are good with keeping Rex ... -
The "Vote on firing Rex" poll
8-8 Forever? replied to 8-8 Forever?'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
but the most vocal tend to be the dissatisfied, the content are generally less vocal... meaning 3 out of 5 of posters (the vocal, passionate ones, or why would they have a username) and therefore likely nearly 2 out of 3 in general want Rex (and by extension the FO, bc you can't change the FO without the new FO putting their own coaching staff in as well) to stay despite no playoffs. Hard to argue with this logic. Personally, I would go with A Lynn as HC bc (A) he played the game and sees what players see (Rex doesn't realize his D is too hard to execute without complete D health) (B) for continuity (new CBA severely punishes complete scheme change outs due to lack of practice time) and to get a new A Lynn offensive plan built on top of current scheme (ie bigger pass game than the Roman run heavy playbook he's been stuck with), © to get a less complex D that can be implemented/understood quickly and that a FA/injury driven revolving door of talent can execute and (D) we'll see, but with Rex they went 8-8 or 9-7 with a tougher than average schedule, so they are closer than most think. -
The "Vote on firing Rex" poll
8-8 Forever? replied to 8-8 Forever?'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
60% for Rex is astounding considering the vitriol spewed on this board (mainly thought out and somewhat justified, I might add) on a regular basis. 60%! That's a mandate as I believe it would be higher than that if casual fans were added to the poll, and higher still if the vote was to utterly blow the whole thing up from the top down (the "Cleveland" approach). This poll should be done after each of the last two games from scratch, and should be Rex yes or no and whole organization yes or no and see what we get. What people say is not necessarily what they would do if put in the drivers seat. -
"Spring Football League" launching in 2017
8-8 Forever? replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NFL already has a built in farm system. Its called the NCAA. -
The Vote on firing Rexpoll is 60/40 keep him with nearly 300 votes. With the general tone on this board being negative, that means it's probably 2 to 1 keep him, despite the 7-7 record and no playoffs. I argue that when push comes to shove, 2 out of 3 fans simply do not want to see a complete restart again. What do you think the reason is? I don't know how many posters are on TBD, but 300 is a significant number of votes.

Taylor 12th in Total QBR through week 14...
8-8 Forever? replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My view is the offensive approach has limited the passing game by definition. Roman's offenses have always been bottom 5 in passing yards.. so not sure most of this is not on the scheme and less on the QB. TT is not Jim Kelly I get it, but ditching Rex for A Lynn probably fixes both the offense and the defense without blowing everything up. right? -
just try to renegotiate TT's deal to push more of the $$ out into the future... if fail, then decide whether let him test the market.. have until March to get it done one way or the other... if they let him go, then draft a QB and go after one of the FAs ... My view is the offensive approach has limited the passing game by definition. Roman's offenses have always been bottom 5 in passing yards.. so not sure most of this is not on the scheme and less on the QB

Taylor 12th in Total QBR through week 14...
8-8 Forever? replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
wow. that is an interesting set of numbers. Roman loves to run it, but did not realize he was always last in passing offense. that explains more than a little. -
the Bills job is a 3rd tier job. this franchise has historically been a place careers go to die, players and coaches alike. There will be 5 or 6 HC openings in a couple weeks and if a guy is so wonderfully qualified, he will go somewhere else and Bills will be last choice. Bills get leftovers, just like in FA. Be careful wishing for Rex to be gone. you may very well not like what you are stuck with.....
-
i agree. despite all the Rex hate on this board, 60+% will take him back. that's a mandate considering how broken Bills fans are in general. absolutely fascinating. I don't think most have an appetite to start all over again... again

PFW: Tom Coughlin the favorite to replace Rex Ryan
8-8 Forever? replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
that is exactly what will happen. be careful what you wish for TBDers. new staff , new schemes, no practice time = 3 more years of suck. then it starts all over again after you all want Coughlin's head ; I can see it now: " the games passed him by.. etc etc etc.." -
this is real. no one coming who knows they get fired in two years after going .500. and starting all over again with unproven coaching staff usually guarantees .500 for the first two years . so it just perpetuates itself. mediocre record and quick hooks attracts mediocre talent and the cycle repeats. maybe 3rd tier north pole market unattractiveness plus the no-practice time CBA doom the rust belt cities to mediocrity in today's rock star major league sports. could be.. If they fire Rex I may have to go back to my old handle: 8&8 Forever, meaning the Bills are institutionally condemned to .500 record "forever".

too early to vote. they play 16 games, not 14. do this in two weeks. not now.
