  1. looks like they got to the right answer. a GM who isn't going to try and run the show, but it a solid personnel and admin guy who has a close relationship with McD. and both have 5 year deals, so they are getting paid plenty, so no rivalry ... this should work out fine
  2. well, stadium's pretty full most Sundays, so he seems to be doing his part of the job.....
  3. TT's a good player. Top 15 QB. Glad we have him. He'll likely be better this year than last, so, let's see where that gets 'em. Remember, he was playing with a fairly serious injury much of last year.
  4. Yeah, next year should be the year Bills pull the trigger on a Round 1 QB. Browns, Jets, others will be there as well. I know everyone will dislike another 7-9 season, but this year may be the one to pull another 7-9 record and actually get something great out of it...
  5. the booth life is so good, I think they are retired now....
  6. I'm going back to being completely in the tank for this team. I'll be finding all the positives going forward. Could happen. McD is the competent Jauron. TT is the competent EJ. Shady is the most underrated RB in the league by a wide margin. We could have a top 10 O Line this year. In fact , it is likely. Love the D Line and the Edge guys. Love the abandonment of the Rex D. Kolby Listenbee is a baller, we just haven't been able to see it yet.
  7. sure. We are tanking for top QB draft pick like Darnold. But of course most teams who would want him are tanking for Darnold as well. So there it is. Nice idea but in practice probably can't happen.
  8. I he stays healthy and balls out for 2017, the Bills will tag him for 2018 and go from there. Picking up the option also only locks him up for 2018, but you must bet on it NOW, vs the franchise tag for 2018 (a bit pricer, but worth the cost in order to see if he can stay healthy or not), which you can decide on next year. Absolutely the right decision. Really the only decision they could make. Bills are acting like a real football operation; lets see if it continues and they can rebuild the personnel/administration piece without stepping on themselves.
  9. Agreed. the only way it can work, now that Pegs hired the coach first. Probably smart, as he wasn't getting a top leadership GM anyway, so go this way... won't get anything but another Whaley, but hey it will be his guy and not someone else's. Works in Atlanta, might work here.
  10. yes. Beane would need to realize the GM role is not a GM "everyone reports to me" role, for this to work. A title without the power. Works in Atlanta just fine. Limits the candidate pool pretty dramatically, but hey, Pegs f 'd it up by picking the HC first. Ooops. Unless he already knew who he had for GM (doubtful). This is what happens when a overly rich real estate investor all of a sudden is running an actual day to day operating entity. Apple and an Orange. He had two ways to go, keep Lynn, get Gus Bradley, keep O continuity and go with Gus' 4-3 D and try to win now, or go Polian/true GM and give up the management of the team and let a true football guy rebuild the org from the top down. He did neither of these two options. Lets hope for the best. G-d help us.
  11. pretty much Gregg Williams 2.0. Lets hope this one works out a little better. However, with 2-3 more years of rebuild/restart suck ahead, Fans will probably run this guy out of town within 2 years just like Greggo.
  12. yes it will need to be someone who McD knows extremely well already and they both agree on how the thing is going to work
  13. the Falcons approach likely is the only approach that will work in WNY, as McD is already here. So hopefully they get a Dimitroff - type who gets a "GM" title but really isn't. Then it comes down to Pegs being like Blank//// that's where the problem may lie. Pegs has never run anything. He just got lucky with a ton of land in Pennsylvania. Blank made Home Depot what it became. I am skeptical. Bills should have gone Czar with Polian and gotten the Pegs out of it. But that is history. Good luck getting the right GM, Bills. Screw this up and its Whaley/Ryan V2.0
  14. How can you have a GM where the coach doesn't report to the GM, which is what will be happening here, right?
  15. Right now, I mean right now, If Indy offered me a first and a bagel I'd take it. But no one is offering or accepting anything until we all see if he can make it thru a productive season or not. I'm not sure he can. If he can bust an ankle just by reaching back for an EJ reject ball, who knows if this kids body can take it.
  16. no one will trade for him. they will just wait, see if he's healthy for a full season, wait until he's a FA and get him for nothing . if he's healthy, Bills won't pay him #1 money based on one season (but others will come close and his agent will get something done just to get him out of crazytown) , if he's not healthy they will let him walk. either way he's gone. other teams will just wait and see. no one taking risk on him for next 12 months, including Sammy and his agent. its all wait-and-see at this point. Hard to imagine him not gone within 12 months. Listenbee better be good.
  17. yep. three more years of suck. i can see the "20 year anniversary" of no playoffs articles being written now...... if they hire a "GM" and put McDermott under him , the guy better be an all star. But all stars don't come to this franchise. So I see more dark clouds once they hire a newby and call him the 'GM". Organizational design is clearly not the hallmark of this franchise.
  18. yep, 3 more years of suck. if the draft is only so-so, this thing will break records for suck "suck for Sam" - 2017 season they'll screw it up by hiring someone with the title "GM" (because no one good will come here without getting the GM title out of it) who then will think McD reports to him rather than the other way around. The whole thing is backwards.
  19. um, with all due respect, the Bills franchise is pretty much top 3 in the laughingstock of the league competition (ok, maybe the Brownies are still hanging on to the title for now) ... with all that's happened in the last 5-6 years, it's hard to argue with that... but they're on the right track ! (it's April, so that's the mantra this month, right? ) . why the h-ll are people reading the Pats board? yikes
  20. good. now they can get a decent pro personnel guy and scouting staff and be done with it. and NO F-ing "General Manager" title BS please bc the dumb bunnies on this board will think McD reports to someone with a "GM" title, creating unnecessary confusion ....
