  1. they'll play hard, win 3 or 4 games and go draft a top QB and generally reload in the draft next year. this year will be bad, unless McD and team coach their asses off and they stay healthy. but then they don't get the QB. in today's NFL, they should go play hard , win 3 games and go get a long term solution at QB.
  2. The Sammy decision was a salary cap management decision in anticipation of him being a FA after the season and their being unable to pick up his 5th year option as his ability to play was still up in the air as the decision deadline date came and went earlier this year. If Sammy is completely healthy for the next 5 years and puts up all kinds of numbers then the decision was a bad one. If he continues to miss half his games going forward it was a good decision.
  3. yeah i agree... the Sammy thing just didn't work out, he's at the end of his contract and he is not worth risking $15m/year with his brittle little slow footed (per Shady) body. They weren't resigning him in any scenario. I'm thrilled they got something good for him. Just is what it is. Darby was replaced straight up and we got a high pick. This rebuild will take years. Pray they lose out, keep the team together and get Darnold. That kid is going to be great right out of the gate it seems. This year they'll play good defense, run the dink and dunk WC offense, compete hard and win a few but the team just isn't that talented right now and doesn't have a top 10 QB, so might as well go for the draft while keeping as many good players under contract as possible. Right?
  4. looks like 4-12 to me... not as talented as last year and totally new coaches, mostly new skill position players and new schemes to work through. Vegas normally gets it right because clear thinking, fear, greed and having your own money on the line sets those lines. Fanboys need not apply in Vegas, just leave us your $$. IN the short term, you get worse by blowing it up; the players are already slacking off by what we're seeing in camp. they know right now they are stuck in a full rebuild -- they'll compete until they're 1-5 then be checking out and protecting their bodies first by November asking their agents to get them the h out of this mess. 2-14 is a real possibility. this is what usually happens when you blow it all up. Hopefully, they get Darnold, get out of the salary cap hell they're in and build around him ... the McBeane's 'll do it their way with their players. best enjoy the tailgates or watch another team (Raiders, Titans, Chargers) for a couple years as none of these Bills players will be around in a couple years.....
  5. hate to say it, but Bills need to tank to 2-14 this year... too much draft pick ammo needed to trade up to #1 overall to get Darnold... this team needs to keep and use all the draft picks it can get.. hey the Colts went through it for one year and lived to tell about it. we can do it too
  6. hope so. probably the primary way forward for a franchise likely not very popular with free agents, especially now. need to emphasize the draft, draft well and lock up drafted players for 4-5 years and lead them with a true franchise QB ... thats the formula. gonna take a few years....
  7. Bills will compete hard. I'll be playing more golf in September and October
  8. there was little reason to watch before the trade.... frankly, a 4-12 season is just what the doctor ordered. hey, maybe they stay healthy and go 12-4 !
  9. "The Rams have been a slow-motion train wreck since landing in LA (and before)" when you live in a glass house, don't throw stones
  10. the Sammy thing just didn't work out... EJ flamed out, Sammy got hurt, Shady came in and Rex wanted to run it...now his contract is up... just didn't work out. you keep blowing everything up every 2 or 3 years, this is the fallout.... is what is is, move on
  11. bingo. they were never giving Sammy a big contract. he wouldn't have done much this year with the run game and TT's deficiencies, plus he is damaged goods. we'll see, but he could be out of the league in a few years from injury or Larry Fitz. Beane took the 2nd and a starter and moved on.
  12. Pretty gutsy rebuild move. the draft is how this franchise can rebuild -- no top FA is coming to the Bills; good for Sammy and Ron, just like Gilly, Hogan, Peters and all the others, who now go to major league teams or to major $$ markets where they can build their brands, careers and lives. they say goodbye to the latest rebuild which would have wasted the best years of their careers and perhaps wrecked their prospects for their second contracts, which are their best shot to make real $$... can't tell but could be bad for Shady, Kyle, and so many others who may join Moulds and many others who largely wasted the best years careers as Ralph and now Pegs stumble forward... hopefully the McBeanes get it right this time for the long term,, we shall see. they will be very scheme- dependent this year, lets hope the coaching staff pulls all the right strings on game days -- they might be ok; the guys they got in return can play at an NFL level ..... we shall see
  13. um... yes. hey, you all wanted Rexy poo gone, blow it all up you said. well, they are blowing it all up. doesn't end with the coaching staff, roster gets blown up too. Rags will be cut soon as well. told you it was a rebuild. tank for Darnold. works for me. should work for you too. go bills
  14. I read his article. We'll see. At the end of the day, most of these NFL journalists (who examine to one degree or another all 32 teams) have done a pretty accurate job over the past 4-5 years of prognosticating how the Bills' season will go. Sully is super skeptical because there are all kinds of reason to be skeptical this year. That's why they play the games I guess.... we shall see
  15. haven't see the replay , doesn't seem like I missed anything. went to Nats/Marlins last night. game winning HR late, game saving diving catch to end the game. and Giancarlo Stanton is the real deal. major league stuff. I chose well....
  16. yep. looks like Rags is built to play the 3-4 inside LB who never leaves the box. ooops they blew up the organization and now play a completely different D where the MLB needs to pursue outside the box. ... looks like he is gone. Wade Phillips will make him a star.
  17. he is right. RR doesn't fit the defense at all. he's a 3-4 inside thumper. pray he is the only guy who doesn't fit the new defense. losing only one guy to the new coaching scheme would be a bargain
  18. Rags is dead in this defense. He was drafted to be the big inside thumper protected by the lineman from blockers. The David Harris job. One of 4 LBs. Now he is one of only 3 LBs with much larger run/pass responsibilities. Doubt he sticks long term. Lawson with his hand in the turf fits the new defense perfectly vs. the Rex D. Rags probably doesn't fit it at all. This is what happens when you blow it all up. Some guys fit great, others don't fit at all, regardless of where the old regime drafted them. Is what it is.
  19. let the key injury parade begin.... that didn't take long.... 4th/5th day of camp is it...
  20. with 2 or maybe 3 exceptions every year, Vegas picks the 12 playoff teams on the nuts every single year. Not because Vegas is smart, its just that handicapping the NFL is pretty easy: from training camp to game day, the rules are geared towards Offense-first, top QBs, stable franchises, stable coaching, top GM leadership and did I say top 10 QBs? Got all of those, you're probably in. Missing a couple of them, you are out. It's not the NFL, it's the N.Q.L. (Nat'l Quarterback League) The media follows only major markets and flashy QBs,when you spend 3/1/2 hours to see 22 minutes of action, and your franchise has none of the attributes that allow for playoff success or media attention, why spend the time and energy. Maybe the new mgt. team is the answer, could be, hope so, but I'll dial back for a couple years and see if they can turn it around. I am a 40+ year Bills fan, but not sure the NFL as currently structured, provides a economic/media/market environment for 3rd tier city franchises to even approach the Super Bowl. We shall see.
  21. pretty sure any thinking person knows how this season and off season is going to go.... 0-2 in the division and conference before the season even starts, no media coverage because of no media-loving 6-4 fresh faced QB with cannon arm and swag; 3-5 at the halfway point, blah blah.. its the same movie every year, but worse during a restart, which is what we have.. just saying what no one else will say, yeah I know its a "fanatic" board so I guess I'll check out for awhile. apologies for the rant.
  22. It's pretty clear that despite fan's desires, the Bills are again in rebuild mode now. Lost more than they gained in FA. Drafted replacements largely. New everything, coaches, schemes, skill position players, etc. Don't have the QB yet although TT is very good. In the NFL, no QB, no playoffs, no media coverage, no interest outside of the local area; no great QB, no deep run in playoffs. So, what to do? Blind loyalty? I called DTV with the intent of haggling my way to lower the cost for the umpteenth time. know what I did? cancelled the Ticket. The media thinks the Bills suck and cover the team as a suck team. Hard to watch that, although its hard to argue with the consensus. The best case this year is TT goes down, they go 4-12 and draft Sam Darnold, which anyone with a brain knows is the best case. Who wants to watch that happen? Not me. So I think a little break is in order, watch the highlight shows, etc., maybe travel to the Carolina game mainly to see friends. Thats about it. How will you get through the rebuild??
  23. hate to say it, but TT going down (something like a cracked collarbone or minor but season ending) would be the best thing that could happen to this franchise. would allow everyone to write off the season, go 2-14 and get us a long term QB solution in the draft next year.
  24. go win 10 games and all this stuff goes away. the media is in love with the "franchise QB" bc thats what sells media. so if you have one of those (in the eyes of the media) then your team is suddenly a darling
