yep. trade er down. get a middle first and another late second and lets get some bodies in there. The bills will not be big spenders therefore the draft is key.
I agree. Many of these guys will be cannon fodder for the offense to play against. think of them as making up the scout team for the offense to play against during the OTAs and early training camp. They will need at least 4 NTs just to have practice. We have none (unless you count Kyle Williams ) right now.
dbills are so screwed this year. I see 4 -12 all over this thing. complete rebuild. playing nfc and afc north. jets, phins, pats all good. think lions. think raiders. think bad.
0-6 in the division for starters , then you play the vikings, steelers, packers, bengals, bears. you're 0-10 before you start counting wins, guys... come on,, why worry on the draft, we will be in top 5 next year....
Dreamers all. Bills probably 0-6 in the division next year for starters. Pats, Phins and Jets will all be far better than the billies next year. to go to the super bowl, you have to get past your own division. it will be years b4 that happens. this is a rebuilding team in every sense of the word. by the time they are really good again, ralph will be gone and so will the team in all likelihood. sucks to be a bills fan.
even with a good qb, the bills will not be in the playoffs for several years. this is pretty much a rebuild. new players at key positions, new defense, new offense....AFC East will be tremendous for years... its going to be a while
3-4 defenses fail without a dominant NT. Period. That is the 800 lb elephant in the room this year. screw that position up from a front office standpoint and we will get run on just as we did in the 4 -3 tampa-lose defense
A swiss cheese O Line and crappy running game will kill all but the best QBs careers. IMO, he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now he is ruined. Call it the "David Carr" effect. Too bad, really, guy never had a shot with this bad an organization. But hey, he played in the NFL. Not many guys get to do that. Matt Hasselbeck is a another example. Once the Seattle running game disappeared, he was done.
SD got Brees when once he was an accomplished NFL winning QB. Drafting and starting a rookie QB next year dooms the bills to several more years (probably their last in WNY) of abject mediocrity. Not me. Go get McNabb, Garcia or Vick and win some damn games before I die.
If we go rookie qb , we will have a losing record for at least the next two seasons. who wants that? not me. get garcia, campbell, someone who knows the league
if we going 3-4, we need to go after McClain in the draft. NT will need to be a FA imo. the good LTs will be gone by no. 9 pick but McClain should be there..
Great post. the key to the 3-4 is the nose tackle. no other position is as important. Stroud will want to do it b/c NTs get big contract, but we will sign Franklin away from the 49ers . he is a beast.
I like brohm.. he would have been the 1st qb taken 2 yrs ago had he not played out his sr year at louisville on a crappy team.. the packers found rodgers and brohm never got a shot... people write him off way too quickly...
Makes sense. Drafting a QB would be a waste. Wait until next year when big time talent comes out. Draft O Line, get DL in Free Agency (ralph too cheap though), and draft LB. Thigpen plays right away. Win some games. Go from there. This thing ain't turnin' around to be be a winning franchise anytime soon, so do it right.
If I want to watch college football, I'll watch college football. What this says is we attract the second/third tier free agents who value the college atmosphere and the hanging-out-with-the-guys type players. That s all great for a semi pro team, not the NFL. Unfortunately in today's rock star NFL where the best talent ends up in the hottest places, a team full of Ross Tuckers goes 6-10 every year. But hey, how bout that "college atmosphere"....we should be in the UFL. Much better fit for our semi pro team.
amazing how most bills fans just continue to live in the past, like most b lo's in general... wishing and hoping they could turn back time... Ralph/the bills will be gone from WNY before anything like those teams come again (unfortunately). this is the nfl of 2010, not 1990. the bills are a doormat and will be for at least a couple more years, no matter what they do. Jets, Phins, Pats will all be very good next year. and we get to play steelers, packers, vikings, et al. prob. 4-5 wins.
byrd's a good player, but his ints were mostly gifts of the two deep zone defense... my grandmother could have fielded half those near-punts. good player, though.
