What starting positions are still up for grabs?
8-8 Forever? replied to DonInBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the fact that your list is so long tells the whole story of how this years team will do. -
I look forward to your sentiments after we come out of the gate 0 -4, which is highly likely. Phins, Pats, Packers and Jets. I do not see how this team wins any of those games.
-
I'm telling you.. it didn't . That was less than a preseason game.
-
Until the Bills start winning some regular season games against teams that the media considers "good", the Bills will continue to "stink" in their eyes. Winning solves everything. At this point, the Bills have done nothing to change people's minds. Preseason games are meaningless but the Bills did what they always do, they get their uniforms and name on national TV (the redskins game) and get blasted.. happens all the time. Remember the Hall of Fame game last year and the MNF opener? Everyone watching and they get blasted/choke. They just keep playing like crap when on National TV. No one saw the Colts game, but EVERYONE saw the 'skins game.

I hope Trent does well and we find a QB as i do not want to blow a first rounder on a QB if I don't have to. If we do that, then its three MORE years before we have a winning record (forget the playoffs, ralph and the bills will be gone before that happens.

Evening before the game opinion on how tomorrow goes
8-8 Forever? replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hardy's a bust and David Nelson (the real deal) is hurt. So forget the WR analysis for this week. Maybin will get handled like a little girl again. Troup will again dance and dodge like f ing albert haynesworth trying to "make a play" instead of doing his NT job. Spiller and Brohm will get tossed around like little girls behind the no block o line. McKelvin can't even beat out freakin Drayton Florence, so he's a bust as well. Carrington is a who cares 3 year project player. Sorry guys, this team is a bloody mess. No, I do not believe we will "fare well on the whole". How eloquent. This team will be the laughingstock of the league this year. -
Date to watch: October 19th
8-8 Forever? replied to billnutinphoenix's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are correct. We just get to sit through and watch one of the worst teams in Bills history get pretty much crushed for 17 weeks. Nothing will happen. That's why is say TIVO the games and watch the games where the results are positive and delete the rest. Only way to keep your sanity. I've been watching this team for 40 year and this season is going to be bad. Really bad. -
TBN: Brohm must stay on target in Bills QB bid
8-8 Forever? replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Behind our crap O line Joe Montana would suck. The only plays you can judge Brohm (or the others) on are those where he has some time to throw. Throw out the others. My sense is none of our QBs will "grab the job" this year because the defenses of the teams we play this year will attack our crap o line with everything they have and completely compromise the QBs ability to execute the play called. Your best bet is the follow the seasons of the top college QBs this year, not the seasons of Edwards, Brohm and Fitz. -
Patience Grasshopper...it may get worse before better

He'll change his tune when he's 0 - 4 . I do not see how the Bills win any of their first 4 games. Look at who they are playing. I just don't see it. We are looking straight down the barrel of 1984-6. 4-12, 2-14, that kind of record. New schemes, tons of injuries already to players who are critical in those new schemes, a general lack of talent all around and the toughest schedule in the league. This season is nothing other than the preseason for a better team and season next year. Hopefully. My strong recommendation is to TIVO the games and only watch the games or parts of games where things go well for the Bills. To just sit through 16 full games of the coming carnage will lead to serious health and relationship issues. Just putting it out there. Bills arguably the worst franchise in the league this year. -
Please. Buffalo defines mediocrity. The past is irrelevant. This is America, not France. The weather is absolutely lousy outside of July 15 to September 15. It has made itself rightly or wrongly the laughingstock of the country, therefore no one wants to be there, therefore no $$ coming in, therefore no waterfront or other development of any noticeable significance, therefore no progress. It is a welfare state where fully a third of the people work for either the city, county, state or federal government. No one produces anything. You are right, Gary and Toledo are harsh comparisons. Think Akron. When (not if) the Bills move, Buffalo becomes Akron. Even Cleveland puts Buffalo to shame.

Maybin looked like a little boy playing against men. Sad. Also, looking at Cargo playing with the 3s, Spiller looking very small and mortal and a bunch of 2nd tier castoffs ( torbor, davis, et al) starting on defense, I question this franchise's ability, frankly, to field a competitive NFL team. in my lifetime. It is what it is, fan or no fan, these guys really are quite bad. Even the special teams are now bad. We are looking at one of the worst seasons in the history of the franchise guys. Ive been a fan for 40 years, and this is looking like 1985-6 again. And we played our 1s more than the skins did. Sad. and the skins are in completely new offense and defense as well this year. so forget the "we are learning new stuff" excuse. so were they.

Preseason game 1- Bills @ Redskins "Gameday" thread
8-8 Forever? replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If this is any indication of what the season will be like, we may not win a game. This is bad. Very bad. No talent, the o line is terrible and Reggie Corner is playing like a high school player. I am embarrassed. Again. -
If the relocation is to Los Angeles or maybe London, Goodell will not block it by imposing a huge relo fee (globalization of the product and all that..) . If it's L.A. or London the Bills are gone , anywhere else, I don't see it happening. Goodell knows Toronto is a crap market for NFL football and Buffalo people will not be able to afford the tickets.

Just got back from redskins camp this morning. Haynesworth is just in the weight room lifting with some other guy. Pretty embarassing with the rest of the team on the practice field all morning. Got London Fletcher's autograph and for second year in a row told him the bills made a big mistake letting him go. He replied "the bills have made a lot of mistakes" and mentioned "they should not have let Pat Williams go either". He stays late and signs autographs for everyone... classy guy..

Reggie Torbor agreed to 2-year deal with the Bills
8-8 Forever? replied to Bill Cowher's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep. another B player for a team loaded with B players. Its all good, don't get me wrong, but don't expect more than a few wins from this group this year unless the O Line comes together and they get unexpectedly good QB play. Those are two gigantic 'ifs" -
Why are some of you so Pessimistic?
8-8 Forever? replied to Pilsner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If they are healthy all year allowing continuity in execution of an schematically exciting but brand new offense and defense, the O line is reasonably reasonable, they get a decent pass rush and come up with reasonably good QB play, I say they can surprise some people and get to 9 -7, kind of what Miami did a couple years ago. That is quite a few "iffs". We shall see. The least injured teams tend to do the best, so lets hope (there's that word again) they avoid any serious injury problems at thin positions ( O line, WR ). The NFL is not club football, where anyone has a chance to win the thing. It is an intensely competitive league, probably the most competitive sports league in the world. If your team is not constantly doing absolutely everything possible to stay competitive, you have little hope of consistent success. I think its fair to say Ralph W. has not done absolutely everything (including burying his ego) and it has shown up on the field for most of the Bills 50 year history. -
I can't help it. I'm really pumped for this season.
8-8 Forever? replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
all positive moves on the bills so far, but with a new O and new D and the youngest team in the league and no real QB, a few key injuries and all the inexperience and new schemes will show up big time ... plus a killer schedule... still looks like 6 -10 best case from here. then they have to trade the whole draft away to get Locker and the cycle begins again... Love 'em but by the time they are good again they will be gone... sorry.. -
Let the Doom & Gloom reign
8-8 Forever? replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My theory is : watch the games live that you think they can win and TIVO all the others (delete the TIVO's losses). That way, you pretty much see all the games they win and almost none of the games they lose. I still believe the Bills were 6-4 last year. Who Hoooooo!! -
I am as big a bills fan as there is (40 yrs+) and I've seen it all, but it is hard to imagine them as other than a bottom five team this year, with the tough schedule outside the already impossible AFC East games and complete rebuild process going on in every area other than DBackfield. Plus all new coaches and o and d schemes. How anyone conceives of a 6 or 7 win season is a mystery to me. Black magic. Pure fandom (which is fine, BTW). Unless they are completely healthy all season, which never happens, its gonna be a long season. Again.

Agreed on the any-given-Sunday point, but over a 16 game season, you really see what you have. I'm thinking lots of high points, big home win or two to jack up the fans, etc. , but on balance, the Bills this season cannot reasonably expect to win 8 games, unless some very unusual things, like zero injuries (this is big) , rookie class hits it out of the park, someone grabs the QB job, etc. happen. Miami did it two years ago, maybe we can do it this year.. but it would be very unusual. a half a dozen more key injuries this year, and we are looking at the pole position in the draft...
