Please express how you feel about tonight
8-8 Forever? replied to Scrappy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Now that Evans is gone, this is about the same talent level team as last year, with the upside that everyone got another year of experience. But experience is not the same as talent. They are building the talent level back to where it was years ago. This years draft looks like a pretty good one, and you go from there via the draft. The Wood/Levitre picks were pretty good, as well. This will take years, since no young, hot free agents will come to this particular franchise until it comes back and has a future. It just is what it is. Frankly, if you are going to suck, this is the year to do it, with a rookie salary cap in place and the best QB prospect in 15 years coming out. -
With the best QB prospect in 15 years coming out next year, we need to win the Andrew Luck sweepstakes

Gannon predicts Bills will finish last in AFC East
8-8 Forever? replied to xsoldier54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Until you start winning some games against top 10 teams, the media will simply continue to shut the Bills out of the NFL conversation. Bills have to earn their way out of oblivion this time. No more predictions of success any more. Even Shein and Boomer are simply quiet on the Bills now. It is as if there is no franchise there. It is "show me" time. I am hoping for a 4-5 win repeat of last season, then we trade our No. 1 picks this year and next year, plus our 3 and 4 this year and get Luck. That is what I want. The way the rules are written in the NFL, you need a really strong QB to take advantage of the rules. Plus , this way, we have a 1st, 2nd and a 4th (from Ravens) next year, gets us a QB and an OL, at least. -
they tried in FA to get someone, but no one wants to come to this ticking time bomb franchise all else (eg. $$) being equal. the whole thing blows up in one way or another when Ralph dies. I would not come to this franchise unless it was one of my last resorts (eg. Gailey, Florence, Stroud, Johnson, Urbik, Torbor, Davis). This is like Kevin Costner in Bull Durham.. a development squad like minor league baseball.... or someplace to just stay in or get back into the league. Sucks but it's true. They try hard and compete, but the Bills are the B team from a coaching/talent perspective and will be until long term stability is clearly established. I'm a 40 year fan, but to me it is clear that WNY and their bills are just kind of "hanging on", like their owner. Bengals are that way, Raiders, others.
-
But will they beat anyone, that is the question. This team opened 0 - 8 last year with largely the same lineup. KC win on opening day in Kansas City? Not a chance. Eggles? Pls. Pats in NE? Ouch, that one will be ugly. Raiders in home opener.... pray for that one. 1 -3 out of the gate, absolutely best case...

He's going to play about 7 games, get hurt and that will be it. the way he plays, no way he stays upright all season...

New York Times Bills Preview
8-8 Forever? replied to o.p. native's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Until the Bills start winning against good teams the media will pay very little attention to them beyond pre-season stock review pieces that guys have to write. Win some games and then we can complain we are not getting any love. Until then, we need to shut our pie holes. -
Cities with over-extended markets...
8-8 Forever? replied to Frostbelt City's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
oh please you big baby. were you crying when you wrote this? You obviously hate the American system called capitalism. simple solution: just move to France or San Francisco or Greece and stand with all your socialist friends in the unemployment line. baby. -
No decent GM is coming until Ralph is gone and long term ownership is in place. It'll be Gailey/Nix until Ralph passes, IMO
-
The painful 3-4 year wait is absolutely reality so let's put that one to rest right now. It took 6-7 years of bad drafting (Losman, Maybin, et al) to get where we are now, it will take close to that to fix it, especially in the AFC East with three marquee cities to compete with for talent. Not sure the Bills can get there really. Until Ralph is gone and long term management/coaching/front office is in place, all bets are off. The entire Bills front office/coaching staff is one funeral away from being replaced. If you were a top free agent looking to win a title before your second and probably last big contract expires, is this the franchise you go with, everything else (mainly $$) being equal.? Probably not, being completely honest, and I've been a Bills fan for 40 years. What am I missing?

This happens every season...
8-8 Forever? replied to Quinn Early's Ghost's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
they will be fun to watch but will lose most of their games... still early days for the turnaround of this franchise... it took 5 years to get here,, it will take 5 years to get out -
It is a process. Offense will be a throwing offense, fun but inconsistent. D will be better, but on the field a lot. 5 or 6 wins. Lose the Luck lottery, some other team gets the best QB prospect in 15 years, and the process continues. By the time this team is really good again, it will have been sold and moved, if the team is truly sold to the highest bidder. Only a fool (or someone for whom business principles do not apply to their football franchise) tries to make a return on $800m in WNY. So the point is, stop bitching and truly enjoy WMD (love that acronym for Williams/Merriman/Dareus) while you can. No negatives please. You are likely rooting on borrowed time.

Billls open to trading Evans
8-8 Forever? replied to Coach Klein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
if Easley is the real deal, then Evans is probably available if the offer is right -
Two positions short of being a great team?
8-8 Forever? replied to Just in Atlanta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are setting yourself up for another disappointment. The Bills are bad. Plain and simple. And the rest of the league will be better than last year. The Bills are 3 or 4 key injuries away from 2 - 14. -
i hope it works out that way. The best college QB prospect in 15 years is coming out next year. Carolina is not drafting ANOTHER QB no 1. Face it, the Bills were terrible last year and they are essentially the same team this year. a half a dozen players will have to have improved dramatically from last year for things to change this year. Teams will just run the ball at them until they stop the run. Simple as that. Unless Carrington, Dareus Batten, Merriman and some others turn out to be great in a big hurry, 2011 will look a lot like 2010. Offense maybe has the ball 8 or 9 series per game. Can;t do much with that.

My bills sleepers for the year
8-8 Forever? replied to Defend Greece's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pears: revolving door Maybin will undoubtedly be cut te not used in the spread offense 2 -14 I see them going 0 -8 to end the season this year rather than to open it. Chan is fired. Ralph dies. Team is sold and moved. Luck is drafted. 10 years of prosperity in L.A. thereafter. It could happen. all in the next 12months. well, not the 10 years part.... -
Merriman dominated practice today
8-8 Forever? replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
he'll get hurt and that will be the end of that little experiment -
Aaron Maybin only weighs 228lbs
8-8 Forever? replied to Chris in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
let him cover kicks. about all he is good for. stupid bills. Whitner, Williams, Losman, Maybin.. no wonder we are at the bottom of the league. heck, no one even wants Whitner.. and he is one of the Bills top 10 players? says something about the bottom 40. -
Yep. Plus get Danny Batten and Sheppard on the field. Re-treading guys like what we are doing at LB is short-sighted. Get the young guys in there and teach them the system and get them game experience. We aren't going anywhere this year anyway. Still need a QB and several other parts. This team is no even half turned around at this point. Go young. Coach 'em up . Ralph's not firing the coaching staff anytime soon. The fans get it now. We suck. We are no longer in any way part of the NFL conversation.. have completely dropped off the map. Expectations are so low. this is a great time to see what you have in terms of your entire roster.

Now is the time to go after Crowder
8-8 Forever? replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Get Batten and Shep on the field. LB is a young mans game. Get these old guys out of here. Young guys need to get the experience. we aren't winning any games this year anyway. lets build a young set of LBs for next year, when we will have Andrew Luck and really start turning this thing around. -
Diary of a Small-Market Team in the NFL
8-8 Forever? replied to DFlo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yep. top FA won't come for that reason as well, if they can get the same $$ elsewhere. we get the Kawika Mitchells, the Marcus Strouds and Nick Barnetts of the the world, guys on their last contract. We're like a minor league baseball team. Until stable long term ownership is in place, top tier NFL people are not coming to this franchise. Of course, the team will also be gone at that time. Sucks to be a Bills fan. -
same old Bills
