  1. Whenever the Bills play well, get all the media focussed, and the hype machine cranks up, they get blown out by a good team. It has happened time and time again. I see a letdown coming... here it comes ... a least it won't be on MNF or national TV.
  2. Ralph has to spend the money anyway, starting in 2013, might as well start spending it now. Needs to get S. Johnson signed next is my guess. Fitz as well. Get them bothnow before it gets really expensive. Probably need to re do Fred's deal as well. Could happen. Gotta spend it.
  3. Good locker room bulletin board material for Chan. Keep it coming Michael. John Clayton will have input like this before week's end. Good. Keep it coming. Don't want to the see the 2008 meltdown all over again. Is Chad Rinehart any good? Looks like he is our man for awhile.
  4. Pats will put a ton of points up on this defense. If Jason Campbell can do what he did, Brady will have a field day. Lots of points on the board this week, it would seem.
  5. It was a win. that is all that matters in the NFL. Just like Golf, its not how, but how many.
  6. Jones made two bigs plays at crunch time. that is big. Plus Nelson has two pretty much walkoff game winning TD catches on his resume already.
  7. FEAR THE BEARD.
  8. youre just joking, right? people will trademark stuff like that
  9. there have been some really good Bills - Raiders games at the Ralph over the years. Like the last one. Unbelievable. Trent Edwards finest moment (other than the drive at the end of the Redskins game, which was an even more improbable comeback.
  10. Down here in the DC area, the Maryland football team (mascot: a terrapin, which is a turtle) have built up the motto: "fear the turtle". Kind of goofy at first, but has caught on and now 20million people know what that means. It helps that the team is also good. My point: if we can build up Fitz by spreading the "Fear the Beard" motto, media all along the East coast will make the association, know what it means, and run with it. Someone put the sign on the wall at the Ralph Sunday with "Fear the Beard" on it... may even get Fitz to start growing it...
  11. After one lousy game? Please. There truly is too much media in this country. And if they lose Sunday it all goes in the other direction.
  12. 1. Hard to disagree with him there. The New England area beats the heck out of WNY across any dimension you can think of . 2. Can't disagree with that one in good conscience. WNY weather absolutely sucks other than July and August compared to the east coast cities 3. Hard to argue that. 4. Whatever WNYers need to realize that WNY is pretty much a crappy place to live, relatively speaking. It is a lot more expensive than people think, due to property, sales and income taxes, the weather is truly awful for 10 months of the year and the place has a self deprecating negativity that is not terribly endearing to most people with something on the ball. Just saying. I am used to all the above because I grew up there, but someone from the outside coming in will have all kinds of issues with WNY.
  13. which is about right
  14. You want Wilcots on your games if you play well, because he is a major player in Sirius NFL Radio, which has a very large listener base. Rich Gannon as well. These guys are on all week. I love that. "Fear the Beard". Run with that...
  15. most fans and media don't even know there's a franchise in buffalo. winning cures all that
  16. gonna be awhile before the media believes in the bills. one game is really nothing. play decent and beat the raiders and things will start to change. get beat up by the Raiders and everyone says I told you so. Bills have a long hill to climb here. most of the media forgot there was even a franchise in buffalo for the past 5 or 6 years...
  17. special teams miracles and turnovers are the way to beat the Pats. thats about it. get them both, you can win. don't get them, you lose. lets focus on the raiders game and go from there. Bills could get 2 or 3 major injuries and thats it. who knows. one game at a time.
  18. all you need to do in the NFL is win. no ones care how or by how much, if you win consistently, the rest takes care of itself (lucky, good, whatever). in a month, no one will remember how the Bills won this game , just that they won it
  19. Having the opening kickoff fumbled to you was really big. In other years, they get a FG out of it. The big thing was getting that TD right out of the box. That is so huge in this league. Gotta hand it to em. They rolled up the yards on what is supposed to be a good defense. This is what Chan is known for so lets roll with it. Lets not get too far ahead of ourselves. Lets see how they do against Oakland's defense, which is better than KC's . one game at a time folks.
  20. Happy Opening Day all. go bills.
  21. Exactly. If they start winning, all will be well. If they start losing again, they will stay in the backwater of the NFL where they are now. Simple as that.
  22. then bust it is.. i wonder what the "bust" part really means? I guess Gailey gets fired and we start all over again... again
  23. +1 enjoy him while you can... he'll be out by mid season, ex juicers have trouble staying healthy
  24. Bills are essentially a 2 year old expansion franchise going into their third year, IMO. The roster two years ago looked just like an expansion franchise's opening day roster. Some fairly good drafting and middle tier FA moves have helped since then. But the big pieces are still missing (franchise Pass rusher, franchise QB, top 15 left tackle, top 15 coach, quality depth at key positions, et al. ). This will take a long time to fix. With a few key injuries this year (which every team has) , I see another 4 win season. Just is what it is. Competitive against Cinci, maybe win that. Raiders have a top 2 or 3 defense adn could possibly shut out the Bills at home , which would kill the fan base right off the bat. KC, Philly, Pats, no shot. So, maybe 1-5 out of the chute with brittle Merriman and Bell going down, and the whole thing unravels again. Jerry Sullivan simply is not drinking the coolaid, and he is right not to, until they beat someone they are not supposed to be competitive against.
