What hurts the most... Lost opportunity.
8-8 Forever? replied to MTBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
not sure the opportunity was ever there. They stole a couple sure losses where they were outmatched from scrimmage and turned them into wins with defensive TDs. one great thing about the 16 game season is the playoff type rosters rise to the top eventually. Bills don't have a playoff roster, they have a rebuilding roster going through evaluations at the hands of a new coaching staff and front office. This is just one long preseason as far as I am concerned, which is why I haven't paid too much attention. When Pegs blew it all up, I pretty much flipped the calendar to 2018. -
Someone explain the process to me
8-8 Forever? replied to KRT88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe the "process" is a progressive improvement of the roster by 1) trials of all the current roster members in live combat to see who fits the mentality and schemes of the coaches , then adds and drops based on those trials (with disposals based on salary cap management in addition). McD said it would take through October to see what he had. It's a 2-3 year process; Yes they lucked into a couple extra wins via an abundance of turnovers /short fields, the "the process" goes on no matter what. Watkins and Dareus were largely mental fit and/or "end-of-rookie-deal" salary cap management moves that frankly, made sense. Guys like Miller , TT and Dareus did their trials and appeared to have failed, either because they physically can't do what Rico wants or (Dareus) are permanently broken headcases. The Kelvin B move is simply ongoing roster improvement (roll of the dice to get that proven NFL talent in the draft at #3) with a guy they know already is a fit mentally and schemewise. In theory, If the process is allowed to continue, the wins will come. Nate P went in as the next QB trial (TT having already pretty much failed the September-October test period). I predicted NP would go in after the bye but was off by a couple weeks. I don't believe McBeanes will sacrifice "the process" in an attempt to sneak into the playoffs (and probably get blown up by whoever they play). They are in this for the long term, 17 non playoff seasons mean little to "the process". Hey, don't look at me, I wanted Rex gone, but not a complete coaching and front office blowup. This is a restart. Is what it is. 6-10 and a high draft pick , go get a couple QBs in the draft and move forward next year. We all knew this is where we'd be. I few extra turnovers just delayed "The Process" a couple weeks...... -
all of 'em. and it looks like he will be getting them. if Nate is great, then yay, we shall see trust the process. 2017 is all about talent e v a l., if wins came, then great. McBeanes said it would take them "through October to know what they had"; they looked at TT for that time and decided he isn't the answer. and Dareus, and maybe Miller, etc.

What's your early assessment of Peterman ?
8-8 Forever? replied to GreggTX's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
no one has any idea. we'll see what we see Sunday. I think the kid will struggle when the live bullets start flying. He'll get 8 in the box, run game will get stuffed, and he'll have to throw to loosen the D. no idea if he can do that with Joey Bosa in his face all day blowing by our horrible tackles. we shall see. -
had this move pegged for the bye week, turnovers stole them a couple games and I was off by a couple weeks.... Rex ruined the defense last year, Dennison ruining the offense this year. Someday they'll have and OC and a DC that are running the right schemes for the players they have when they have them. Someday.... Looks like the tank-like result is in play again. No way Peterman goes on a tear as a rook QB with the upcoming schedule. Fun while it lasted. Will still be fun to watch the inevitable ups and downs of a rookie QB in the NFL . Same ole bills. go Bills.

a 4th for TT would work pretty well. but teams will simply wait for him to be released , which could easily happen after the draft
-
coaches and their schemes seem to be pretty much inseparable. thats why you can't keep switching head coaches all the time. McBeanes seem to be in synch.

a pitch clock would do the trick IMO, solve innumerable problems and keep the average fan (who doesn't see the thinking side, nor has access to it in game) paying attention. I'm a tennis player and fan, and the 25 second shot clock between points speeded up the game quite a lot... baseball pitching is a lot like tennis serving from a time suck potential perspective

I know you're thinking it, I'm just saying it.... Bills all over the media for the first time this year, TNF, blah blah, Jets are supposed to be down, etc etc. national TV is usually where the train hits the wall for this franchise. is is different this time?

we're 5-2 . Houston is what, 3-4. That's what I look at. I'm bought in to "the process". They'll miss on some talent. But hey, they took Gilmore's Pats contract and 100% remade the entire secondary with one guys contract amount and made is better that what it was plus a top three pick to boot. McBeanes are doing just fine thank you. They'll draft another QB next year and all will be well. trust the process. they are legitimately building a culture and it looks 7 games in that they've already done it. forcing turnovers all over the place and mass celebrating when the 4th wideout makes a catch. I'm on board. Didn't think it could be done in today's NFL, but you can rip out all the bitchy, big contract bad eggs and then still win as a team of scrappy little nobodys. gotta love it. didn't think it was possible. we'll see what happens when the division games crank up, but wow pretty interesting so far -
So, 4-12 predictors...how's that working out?
8-8 Forever? replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
winning with turnovers flipping field position last two weeks. hell yesterday was dead even until the pick 6. but that's how you win in the NFL these days. short fields, turnovers. all i can say is the supposedly scrappy little nobody TT doesn't turn it over, big media stars Winston and Carr do and Bills outscore them both games because of it. Turnovers are how you win those 3 or 4 extra games that bring the playoffs. but these are not division games. lets see how they do now that they're banged up a little and start playing the division games and hit the road. I still believe this is a lengthy process and from a long term perspective they will still need to get worse before they get better. the watkins, gilmores and dareus' don't grow on trees, and the defensive TDs and turnovers that turned the Atl, Bucs and Raiders games will dry up, so a letdown from a down-in and down-out from-scrimmage talent perspective is probably coming... -
Dareus traded to Jacksonville!
8-8 Forever? replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yep. "the Process" is an ongoing process. just as the Bills' secondary is a wildly great bargain for the talent and production they bring as a group, Dareus was exactly the opposite. you nurture the former, you exit the latter as fast as you reasonably can.. Dareus is seriously damaged goods.. too bad for all the tragedy he has had,, he has to be a mess inside -
Dareus traded to Jacksonville!
8-8 Forever? replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yep. he's a cancer. albert haynesworth 2.0 get rid of him use the cap space to get someone who's on the bus. McBeanes are serious about getting the right type of players for their TEAM. -

i remember Fred Jackson putting it on the ground in a similar situation, same part of the field to hand the Jets a game 5 years ago or so... yes a very billsy thing to do i completely trust the process. you can it in action with the guys they are letting go (not doing much) and the guys they are bringing in (doing quite a lot)

Looked smooth out there. Why was he cut again? Catches everything in the hands. Catches everything. Had separation all day. McBeanes do it again. Roster is building. Ryan Davis? who ? great strip sack. The Process.
