Gailey coaches like he knows how limited the talent is
8-8 Forever? replied to BisonMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
About time fans realize what an amazing job Gailey has done on offense with a bunch of free agents and super low draft choices. Gailey could score in the NFL with a college offense. He's a chess player. Defenses still haven't caught on to that SJ little presnap shift inside with the slant that embarrassed the KC secondary. Texans knew it was coming and it still worked again. That'll get you by against all but the top half a dozen teams until you can draft/acquire some talent. They'll go out and get big 4-3 type LBs and a QB in this draft and FA and that will do it I think. -
Assuming a loss to the Pats.....

Elderly NFL owner had enough, vows changes

Correct, sort of. If I have this right, and I think I am close, Selling it now would be a huge tax hit, as his basis in the team is $25000, resulting in something like a $300m tax hit on a $800m sale price. Then, when he dies and leaves the left over $500m to his heirs, the estate tax will take half of it again, leaving the heirs maybe $200- 300m off a $800m sale of the team. Really really stupid to sell it before he is deceased, -

Hence my handle, 8-8 Forever. I really believe in what you posted. This is the Bills franchise. Competitive, hang in there. Fans party in the lot 7 times a year and have a good time. Ralph collects 50% of the gate for every game home and away plus a free $100m+ in TV money for doing nothing but having a team on the field . Just chunkin' away like the Kansas City Royals or the Denver Nuggets. Competitive, but get nowhere. In L.A. they become a winning franchise IMO. Big time money, big time players and big time coaching would come to town with a reasonably good group of players built by Nix. L.A. , Chargers, Raiders, Broncos in the West, Move the Chiefs in with Indy/Houston/Titans and move Jags to the AFC East where they belong. Really pretty easy.

I TIVO'd the game, went and played golf with my buddies, watched the replays of the positive stuff, ignored the rest and then deleted the recording. Only way to watch the Bills. Sad that its come to that, but life goes on. No way in Hades the Bills come out of N.E. with less than a 15-20 point loss. They are simply man for man so much better than the Bills. Brady will completely shred the D. They will come up to stop the run this game and Gronk, Welker, Hernandez and Lloyd will have a field day. Brady at least 4 TD day. No way I'm even watching this one.

Since a loss to the Pats on the road is a virtual lock, at 3-6 are you throwing up on the season completely and does this become last year all over again with everyone walking away? Might as well get it started now.

I think we see TJ in next week
8-8 Forever? replied to whateverdude's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Plus next season. Unless they go for Romo or some veteran, they will draft a guy and sit him long enough for next season to be crappy too. On the other hand, assuming the Bills get crushed by the Pats next week, the last 7 games are pre - season again, so might as well see what we have with other players. The Bills seem to have a leadership problem. I see a bunch of suburban husbands and fathers (good for them, by the way) playing out their contracts as best they can at the coaches direction. I do not see fire and ice out there. The NFL is a nasty league for high spirited , type A guys. Don't think I see any of those on this team, maybe other than Fred and Stevie and Byrd, thats about it. The coaches are corpses. -
The Bills are a factory of sadness. Yes.
-
"Bills Culture"... i like that one.. that sort of Ward Cleaver "day at the office", "9 to 5" do enough to keep your job .. focus is on family, wife and suburban life in O Park. We're not going anywhere as a team, so lets keep our priorities straight... hmm,, makes sense to me. Not exactly Clay Matthews is it.

1st Round QBs Buffalo Passed on since 2000
8-8 Forever? replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great post. I say we go get a proven guy with a few years left in the tank. Romo, , somebody with better physical skills and locker room presence than Fitz, who I think is really good but has some physical limitations that defenses scheme around. Dats what he is saying , and he is right, and we proved it with Losman. -

Barkley will be long gone by the time we pick. Forget about that one. -
Like it or not Fitz will be starting next year.
8-8 Forever? replied to ThrowingFitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is correct. No other way to look at it. Unless whoever it is is just lights out in preseason, which can happen. I doubt we will get much drafting between 10 and 15 again, though. the QBs who can start right away will be gone by then. -
Buffalo A Great City - For Real !!
8-8 Forever? replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is why family guys like Fitz and Mario and Barnett and Kelsay are here . Its a nice safe place outside the workplace to raise their families etc. It's a place you can actually have a normal life while you make your millions. Of course the real difference making players in the NFL, the rock stars from coaches to players who win Super Bowls will have nothing to do with a backwater, family place like Buffalo. So the Bills are basically doomed to mediocrity due to the nature of the place they play. Seems like a fair trade. -
L.A. Stadium A Go Unanimous Approval !!

Another desperate Bills fan with his head in the sand. In a straight bidding war between guys intending to make a return on their $800m+ investment, no way a WNY-based bidder beats out an L.A. bidder with brand new stadium underway paid by the taxpayers. Not a chance. You will just wake up one day up to your ears in proof. Unfortunately, the day is coming. Doesn't that sand get in your eyes? -
Here we go! Another big city wants an NFL team.
8-8 Forever? replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I simply cannot imagine in a free for all auction the team staying in WNY. L.A., London, rich guys all over the place, no way a WNY bidder wins unless it is a gift to the city ( i.e. bid to win and run the team at a huge loss forever because he "loves" buffalo.) -
After our Colossal whipping in houston....

I will TIVO it and go play golf. Win, I watch, Lose I delete. Can't sit through road poundings anymore. My family refuses to watch me sit through road poundings anymore. -
Poor desperate Bills fan. Without the pick at the end of the Titans game we'd be 4-3 and talking about out the great 4 and out defensive stop at the end of the game that saved the win. Fans are dumb. I'm sick of listening to these stupid rants by fans who's rage is simply fueled by whether the team won or lost. They will adjust and start blitzing once they get some confidence they can leave the corners in man coverage. You notice we are getting gashed at the point of attack but no one is running any fades or screens or reverses against us because all of them have been taken away by Wanny's defense. The challenge is the front 4 needs to be dominant in this defense and they have not been. Wanny was very upfront in saying the front 4 determines the success or failure of the base defense. He has been very very clear on this. That is why they went out and got MW and Anderson and liked Dareus. Well, due to injuries to MW, Anderson, Spencer Johnson this has not worked out so far. Also, I think Dareus is still mourning his brother -- no real fire in him this year. We are all human, after all. Hell, they had to bring Merriman back they are so thin on the D Line. They bet they could stay healthy on the D Line and could keep two kickers. Well that didn't work out, and the punter thing did not work out either so far. They are evolving the team, changingout the old parts and putting new parts in. Look for Brooks to take over for Aaron Williams too. This is a process. Jauron and his crappy tampa 2 defense with its little fast guy scheme is still hurting this team with guys like Moats and Scott still around. You will see LBs and QBs get drafted this year and more progress will be made.

Why is it that Fitz gets all blame?
8-8 Forever? replied to UticaBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Poor desperate Bills fan. I just replayed the entire game. Fitz was pretty damn good in that game. Those 2 TD throws were sick. That is a pro QB looking off the safely and sticking it in Jones gut. That is a pro QB and a pro coach calling a post on 3rd and 2 and getting exactly the single coverage on SJ they thought they'd get. You are losing your grip on what is happening. You and so many Bills fans are so desperate for some kind of QB savior to ride over the hill and make it all good. Sad to watch. Fitz goes 14 for 15 and 2 scores, but throws a pick on throw 16 and it's "cut him!" amazing. I think it is utterly amazing what Gailey has done , with a couple of exceptions , with a bunch of 7th rounders and free agents top to bottom on offense. Amazing. -

Jason Cole rips Wanny on Howard Simon show

Who else would come to f ing buffalo? Chan was in a bad spot (Jauron had great assistants but they all get fired when the HC goes down) and asked a friend to help him out. Things could be worse. We could have last years defensive players (all sucked) and a DC who isnt even in the league anymore. -

8-8 Forever? replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. This is not college. This is a players league. Not a coaches league. We need a leader on the field. Just don't have one yet. All of the d players are individuals. Mario, into himself, Dareus, too young, Kyle, playing his own game, Kelsey just trying to out motor everyone. Sheppard too young. Barnett should be but is not. Moats? No. Byrd should be but is not. Wilson .. not enough cred to tell others what to do. Corners just tying to stay alive. that is the problem. no ray lewis type out their like Spikes, Conlon, Smith before them. Just not there. That is what I see. With the new CBA, the coaches cannot punish the players much and with guaranteed money, it takes a special group to actually go out there and lay it all on the field. Don't see it in this bunch. they are very clinical. Not very emotional. Need both. -
Trade For Vick AND Draft A QB
8-8 Forever? replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
its simple. ralph dies. team put to auction. rich guys show up to bid on something that only comes along every 30 years in an true auction scenario and outbid any possible local bidder, team moves to a vibrant rich market. done. flame away, but I cannot imagine anything else happening, assuming a fair, high bid gets the team auction. sucks, but it is a simple case of economics. -

8-8 Forever? replied to UticaBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yeah yeah yeah, we need a top 10 QB. About 20 teams need one. It will come. They don't grow on trees. Fitz is the best we have right now. He looked excellent against the Titans, the pick was just a bad call in my opinion. that one is on Chan. But look at all his other throws. Right on the money and crisp. I don't know what you guys want.
