I didn't listen to it, but I suspect I know what they're talking about.  I've been noticing it around here for a couple of weeks.

Generalizing, of course, but I think a lot of fans assume it's impossible to beat the Patriots.   I've felt that way for a while, but I think that's not the way the coaches and players think about it.

It goes to the point McD, the Bills players and frankly most other coaches and players make all the time:  all they're thinking about is the next game.   And it's just a football game.   It's the same game we played in high school.   The outcome of most games is NOT determined in advance.   Sure, in high school and in college there are a few games on your schedule where you're clearly out matched, where you're lambs being led to slaughter.  But in the NFL, where the talent is pretty much equal across the board, "on any given Sunday" really is the rule.   Most of the teams can win any game on their schedule.

That doesn't mean that one team shouldn't be favored over another, because there are better and worse teams.   But it does mean that the outcome of most games isn't such a sure thing as a lot of fans assume.

Bills-Pats will be a three-hour battle, the same game we played in high school, except better players and better coaches.  Pats are favored, but it's foolish to assume that we can mail in the result.   Pats are well coached, but so are the Bills.  And the Bills are as motivated as any Bills team playing in Foxboro for the past 20 seasons.   This is a big game, and the outcome is not pre-determined.

I think there's more pessimism about this game than is merited.

Keep telling yourself this.   Over and over.   We'll see you at 4:30 Sunday.    Personally , I have other things to do than to wreck Christmas eve watching another Pats beatdown.

It is impossible to beat the Patriots right now.   2017.

A scheme will never make a player great, but tweaking it to adjust to the players talents can help put points on the board. We gave up 9 points to the Panthers, and lost by 6. I’d love that game back as we look at our playoff chances.

and I'm sure Matt Ryan wants the questionable strip sack back that cost Atl that game.   move on please.

Completely understandable but we also have to be a little realistic.  We just got trounced by them on our own field...that's making me look to other teams for a little help

Pats kill the bills Sunday.  Bills don't have (yet) what it takes to stop NE offense, nor is the Bills offense nearly potent enough to shoot it out with them.

       move on to miami.

I like Derek Bevell.  He built that whole offense around the strengths of his QB.  That is running around, improvising,  and throwing deep.  If Seattle had a more conventional square peg/round hole OC like ours, they'd still not be very good with RW trying to be a pocket passer.  He is a smart OC even though RW blew the play that caused the pick in the Super Bowl.

Seahawks are terrific.  Injury problems got them and got TB and GB this year.   A rash of injuries pretty much wrecks your season, not much coaches can do when the talent thins out due to a mass of key IR type injuries.   RW is tremendous.

They are drafting a qb rd 1 regardless of how far buffalo goes.... Jmo

agree.  I think the plan has always been the plan.  trust the process.  QB will be drafted in the spring no matter what happens this year.   TT is not a guy who can deliver wins against top 10 teams .. he needs tremendous play around him, he does a lot of good things, but the NFL is geared now for the QB to determine the fate of a team over the course of a whole season, IMO

they look around and TT is just their best option for winning games this year, this game.   and frankly, that's how they'll look at QB next year as well;  they look at what they have and who's available and decide who gives them the best opportunity to win that week , that year

I agree that that the starting 4 in the secondary are the strength of the team.  EJ Gaines has played very well when he's been healthy.  The problem is that he's often injured and hasn't shown the durability to play an entire year the past two seasons.  If I'm the Bills, I'd still sign him.  Outside of that though, the Bills could use better depth.  Leonard Johnson is not really that good.  He can tackle but leaves a lot to be desired in coverage.  The rest of the crew is nothing special.

Also to the dude that said Gilmore looks really good, I'd tend to disagree.  He's at the same level with New England as he was in Buffalo.  He's a good CB but not elite or a "lockdown" corner, despite the huge contract he was given.  He still can't tackle and stays away from contact vs. the run and gave up some catches in Pittsburgh

NE will regret taking that Gilmore contract on, just as Jax will regret taking Dareus contract on

is he really not good enough?

Frazier so often has him speed rushing the LT in a semi contain.
How often do you see him stunt or spin back inside?

and we had Mario Williams playing for real and Dareus looking for a contract.
    Team game Common

    COACHING.

Team game yes.   Trust the process.    Jax will end up regretting taking on that Dareus contract

Two ways to win next week.....

    1.  Do not let Gronk beat you.  I'd double him the whole game.  Find where he is and double him, every snap.  Do NOT under ANY circumstances leave him 1v1 with Leonard Johnson (which happened in the first game).  Brady has really missed Edelman as his chain mover this year and between the 20s Gronk is BY far his most reliable chain moving target.  Yes that means risking Brandin Cooks 1v1 hitting you for a big play but it doesn't matter.... you must play the percentages.  If Gronk goes 6 for 85 or something the Patriots will win.  Hold Gronk to 3 for 30 and you have a chance.

    2. Score.  The Bills need to start the game with the approach that they need 30 points to win.  New England got very little pressure without blitzing yesterday.  Tyrod has to throw.  He will have time in the pocket... he has to take chance with the football and throw it down the field.  No tuck and scramble for 2 yards, no dump off to Cadet or McCoy.... throw it down the field.

Bills have no one to cover Gronk.  The guy's 6 foot 6 or whatever.  He gets his yards.    Bills will need to have 12+ possessions on offense and score 6 times to win.   I don't see that happening without 3+ turnovers, which ain't happening either.   Sorry .  Bring on the Fins.

Put the bong away, the playoffs are the playoffs. We are not yet in the playoffs.

and Bills are not good enough to win in Foxboro, heck Pats shut the Bills out in their own building.   The season is already a success on the field (and a disaster off the field , as no drafted top QB this year  ).   But hey, live for the moment; go Bills.   Put the effort in.   Maybe 9-7 gets it done.  That would be great.

No, you're not right.  Get a clue, "whoever is on the top of the QB draft board" is going to be gone by the time the Bills draft because the teams that will be drafting at the top of the first round almost all need QBs (San Fran and  Washington (or the team that signs Cousins) may not) so they aren't going to trade out of the top spots.  Trading up for any QB who is not the consensus #1 pick has only worked out once in the last 20 years IIRC ... in 2016 when Philadelphia took Wentz.

Well there you have it, sounds like most want to go get the wins and the draft will take care of itself.   I'm with you.   Go bills .  screw the draft.   What is it Herm Edwards says, "you play to win the game".   8-6 is sounding pretty good.

  11. I for one would rather go pay Kirk Cousins, but if I have to , I'll trade both my firsts and another high 2018 pick to get Darnold or whoever is on the top of the QB draft board for the Bills.   But I do not want to part with my 2019 #1 pick, which I believe they will need to do if they end up 9-7 and have to move up 15 or 20 spots.   So I don't say "suck for Sam" just "slide for Sam".   In a month this season will be forgotten.   Am I right?

Thank you for that. I just was wondering how that would play out. It’s about a 1 and 100 shot. But with the way this crazy year has went you never know.

crazy year?   this year has gone just about the way we thought.  no playoffs, team fairly bad, talent evaluation year, pile up draft choices, go get QB in draft next year and continue the rebuild.  they stole a couple games with turnover TDs early in the year, but putting those aside they are pretty much a 5-8 team on the way to 6-10 just like we thought

  13. he played it by the book, did not consider the conditions.  turns out the book was right.  I would have gone for it on 4th and 1, since it was so hard to stop the run, but whatever, its a W.  I still can't figure out why the Colt's 2 pt conversion didn't count.   WR picks are ok inside of 5 yards , right?   all in all , Bills stole one there.  take it and run.
