  1. lil Donte just got a bit smaller in my eyes, now he is baby Donte. I hope SF loses now (which I didn't before).
  2. I kind of think the Bucky thing was sort of something Jerry Sullivan would pen, to be honest. We have to make good personnel moves regardless of the handicaps, I think they have done a decent job of doing that in the last 2 years. The age of the owner and what will happen when he passes has got to be an issue, to be sure as well. I think it is okay but a slow process to build the team the way they have to right now. They will do better when the wins out number the losses but spending extra will help.
  3. Hah! Where did Colin Brown come from too? There is a transcript he could read it too
  4. I think after this year the FO and all of us should be happy if they get rid of injury prone players, it's too big of a step back when you have to move the 2nd guy in there before they are ready (although most of the time Hairston did okay). It is a cut throat business and we should think of it that way if a guy isn't a star (and even Merriman got the "if he passes his physicals, we liked that he was getting some pressure and setting the edge, when he started the season. We will see as it goes along, in the mean time we will be getting some pass rushers"). I think an upgrade at the position is a great idea. Bell might or might not be a sort of hot commodity, if he is too expensive it is okay if we fill that hole higher in the draft than we have in years.
  5. Agree with that and McKelvin is going to be replaced, sounds like.
  6. What I liked best about the presser is him saying it was too complicated and needed to be simplified, I have been saying that all season. I think they go base 4/3 with 3 down in passing situations to allow for blitzing more.
  7. I agree philosophy is more important, then scheme. We could be a running team with the spread for instance (please).
  8. SJBF, I think that Nix dropped hints in that presser like TO dropped passes.
  9. After listening to that I think we draft/sign 2 DE/OLB 4/3ish types (highest priority #1 pick if there is one they can get they like), a left tackle (3-5th round IMO), sign VJ if available, if not draft (with a early pick 2nd?) a big good guy.. resign Chandler (if he is affordable), would not surprise me if they drafted a late guy. Interior line men he thinks we can keep or not (I think there are some contracts to be done there as well), he seems to think we have serviceable depth there. CB or 2,"can't have enough good CBs" - thank you Dick Jauron I wonder if they would keep Leodis for returns? (mid to late round) He thinks injuries were a big issue but didn't say much about addressing it (I felt like he just wants to get rid of any injury plagued players though). Fitz is unquestionably THE QB, "he got it done, when we had the people in there.. took too much on himself to do it and we need to reel that in a bit (paraphrasing)." (maybe RUN the damn ball CHAN!!) I think they won't draft one, honestly. Not happy we have a bunch of guys that get injured, I think that is one reason he liked Pears so much. Merriman is still a wait and see gamble. Sounds like players are involved in a big way in recruiting FAs (good on him for that). Sounds to me they will play in FA more this year. And keep guys they would have trouble replacing or like a lot. One thing I didn't love Fred will have to wait, maybe a upto a month..maybe more? got the feeling Fred saying the sooner the better is getting on his nerves, but in anycase he has all the time in the world since he is under contract still. Maybe trying to get the press to back off on FJ a little, (expecting a holdout? hope not sign the man) Seem to have no problem with Chans scheme (unless the reel in Fitz comment was aimed at him as well) but did think the D was just too hard for guys (missed assignments) and it needs simplification. I love that he is straight forward, old school football guy. Always entertaining to listen to. The money thing was actually same line as last year with the "Ralph will open the wallet for us, hasn't said no"...although this year he said "we do disagree a bit about some things at times."
  10. NE* will win, NE* has a suspect defense, but like NO and GB it just won't matter. Belichick will copy the Bills game plan. Early big lead, don't let them catch up. I sort of think Denver can pressure Marsha but not enough. And the pasties will run and quick pass to the TEs until Denver and I doubt if can stop it. I was wrong about the Stillers, although I hadn't seen them in a game all year and they looked old and injured.
  11. I always say this when they play at home. Yeah and he is going to fire himself
  12. ^THIS^ and Ryan and Flacco are not really all that great (and I am not totally sure they will ever be) but Alt did rebuild in a quick, I will give you that. I still put most the blame on the length our rebuild on DJ for giving us that awful Tampa Bay D. That was a bigger set back then drafting Losman (who I think because of cost in draft picks and total developmental time was a bigger set back then Trent, who at least partially cost DJ his job).
  13. Fixed and the ignore list grows yet again.
  14. Weren't Andre's better than Micheal Irving's? I always saw him as a better player not sure sats wise though. Carter, Bettis, Martin, Roaf...and the owner of the 9ers, tough but I hope this time.
  15. It really was a mistake, it was the first one up on here (no bylines on this site, so I didn't know). I don't read him as often as possible (which in general is never, anymore). I don't follow his twitter but was pissed and responded.... I actually did think twice about starting the thread but figured a lot of people would read it anyhow. I hate the guy still works for the news. He sucks at his opinions of the Sabers too. Other sports I don't care about.
  16. I really hate to read his crap about the Bills but I clicked by mistake. I tweeted him back "your latest column sucks in view of things you said about each and every one of those coaches when they were in BFLO" http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/columns/jerry-sullivan/article701899.ece
  17. I hate these what we did in the past threads, but we could have kept Greer and Mcgee together, still mad we didn't. In anycase I am over the rest BTW you guys are really setting Lee up to have great playoff run.
  18. As Usual SJBF, is right this is not official. The Bills will get at least one pick, IMO but who knows. Poz left for a lot of money and Donte is on a playoff team (although he isn't being paid that great. Brad may cancel out his contract). The league gave us an extra 7th last year just for being a crap team, I kind of think we will get at least that this year too and one for Poz. If you look at how they did it last year http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/09000d5d81ef2e1e/article/nfl-distributes-compensatory-draft-picks-to-23-clubs
  19. Looks interesting, here is a link to a review. http://sports.yahoo.com/cfl/blog/cfl_experts/post/the-story-of-cookie-gilchrist-one-of-the-cfls-most-fascinating-alumni-in-his-own-words?urn=cfl,wp2589
  20. He had a strong season and is a good sized target, I have no idea if he is fast (a runner?). I liked the TD catch he made for the boys in the giants game. I have no idea how much he would be worth, he had 2 seasons where he was in 14 games in a row. Young enough same as Stevie 4th year.... He should get a look from us at least, don't they have a TE that was Chandlers competition going into FA too?
  21. I don't think we should take a QB with a high pick, I don't follow the college game enough to make judgments about how these guys games translate but thanks for your opinions and the thought out post.
  22. I said the number 1 thing I hated about the offense was the defense, now I realize why people say nuff said.
  23. Please! NO MORE Jason Peter threads (or JP or Trent or fat Pat Williams or Greer etc....)!! IT IS THE PAST! get over it! Move on. There have been 100s of these on here. Yes we might have been better, we aren't. It is like having an old girlfriend stalking you to re-read these stupid things.
  24. Chances are we will be running 4/3, that is just one reason why this discussion is happening too early. Over/under on how many of these threads before the draft, I'd say about 60 (anyone want to keep tabs?)
  25. The number 1 thing I hate about our offense is our defense.
