"ESPN BUF: Ralph Wilson on Bills draft plan: 'If there's not a QB at NO. 3 we like, we're not going to reach.'" Nothing ground breaking but what was the purpose of that comment? Does this mean that there willingness to take a QB has gone done since Luck's decision or does it mean that they have someone in mind who they don't feel would be a reach? Opinions? (sorry if this was already posted, didn't see it anywhere.)

Why hasn't there been any type of interview or q and a session on buffalobills.com or anything? I want to hear what he has to say.

Who is this game made for? Don't see any big names out there, so is it for mid round prospects to be seen? Also, Idaho's QB Nathan Enderle looks like he could be a sleeper pick. He's 6-5 233lbs. and looks like he is a solid pocket passer. Anyone know more about him?

I hate to say it but I'm very skeptical of Spiller. You can take note of this so that if in 2011 he becomes a top RB than you can come back and prove me wrong but he seems just too small and doesn't hit the holes with enough intensity to get any better. Also, Whitner may not be on Maybin's level of awfulness but I think everyone on this board agrees that he should not have even been taken in the first round. All I'm saying is with every playoff-less year we need to be more efficient and safe with our drafting and choosing size over speed which has been our downfall for the past decade.

I see what you're saying but at this point we're not going anywhere unless we bulk up our defense. And besides, Newton is the farthest thing from a sure shot. If Luck was still available I'd be saying the same thing as you but Newton is not your prototypical pocket passer that is so common among great quarterbacks. I just don't want another spiller, maybin or whitner and for once I just want to get the "guy we were supposed to draft".
-
Newton will be a project that will take at least two season regardless of whether he becomes a solid QB or not. Since we obviously don't have that kind of time, he should not be anywhere close to the Bills draft board. A corner may be a need for us with Florence a free agent and McGee aging but with the worst defensive line in the league, Bowers, Fairley or Daureus should be our only options.

Any talented, big front seven defender is a must need, and we need more than one. On offense, we need a back up quarterback (obviously), whether that's a rookie or just a guy with some potential. A tight End is not a need but its close to it and it would complement Gailey's scheme very well. But front seven D is by far the most important.

But money talks. The excuse of Buffalo being a small market that no one wants to go to is the same excuse Ralph Wilosn and Larry Quinn use when they leave the offseason with only Dwan Edwards and Jordan Leopold (despite his good season).

The way I look at it is one side can be stronger than the other but it can't be by much. It's very rare that you get teams like the Bucs and Ravens earlier in the decade who won relying completely on defense. But even those teams won because Dilfer and Johnson made plays when they had to. Oh, an example of a one sided team that couldn't get it done, the 1999 Sabres. Different sport, same idea.

Bills and Ravens Should Switch Places in Divisions

Sorry if I'm taking this too literally but with the CBA thing coming up could this actually happen? -
That's the big board, not the mock draft. Carolina's offense is so bad that it is not certain that they'll take him and Denver may decided that a CB is a more important need. Hope is not yet lost.

yes.

No question I'd rather have Fairley. What it comes down to is if Wilson wants to create another marketing ploy like he did with Spiller. Or, if he decides to be safe and go with something we actually need and lets Nix draft who he wants (assuming thats a D lineman).

Boss, Greenway, Harris. give me at least one of those. -
I disagree. Maybe it's because I live in the New York area that i think this but he is a pretty big name. But that's no reason why the Bills shouldn't sign him, this is a capped league.

Bud Adams says Vince Young will not be on the team next year

No, that's what I meant, pick him up for cheap not really affecting our salary cap. -

It's not that they desperately want him, but the thought of getting an ex pro bowl QB on the cheap is a little exciting. Plus, maybe a change of scenery could be good for him. -

I think if we could pick him up on the cheap and let him compete with Fitzpatrick that would be a good move. Also, avoids the chances of us picking up Newton, who I'm scared that the Bills will draft with the thrid overall pick. -
Couldn't agree less, he's tearing it up now.

I know this topic has been discussed several times on this board recently but why should we keep George Edwards? There's a lot of proven defensive minds that will probably be jobless in a few weeks and I can get into who they are but that's not what this is post is about. Under his watch the D has let up 387 total points, rank last in run defense and ranked 28th in sacks with 26. Now I don't want to be overly concerned with stats but if Edwards stays for next year it's just another reason why we are a lower class organization who cares more about saving money than winning.

A Few Thoughts About The Game

McKelvin is a bust but if they draft a corner in the first round that would be a giant mistake. -
Our o-line is really bad; Fitz's play made it better
bills1960 replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not making up for anything but we were missing two starters and its hard to look good with Brohm behind center. Our defensive front seven is what everyone should be fed up about. -
+1. We will never go anywhere while he remains owner. Say what you want about anything else about this franchise, all the blame falls on him. At least the Sabres are about to have an ownership change.

With the fourth pick in the 2011 NFL Draft....

Bowers or Fairley, which ever one they feel will fit best in the scheme and will make the biggest impact.
