Well apparently Goodell told Vick not to go to Buffalo but that's a story for another day. How about Andy Dalton? I know he's only been around for a year but the kid is the future of that team. Stepped in immedaitely and carried a team that most people thought would be awful to the playoffs. Helps that he had AJ Green to reel in passes from him but he definitely would have been worth our second round pick in retrospect. Who would you rather have, Aaron Williams or Dalton?

Guys who looked okay last night and who didn't
bills1960 replied to bowery4's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Brooks continues to impress. Reminds me of a young Terrence McGee. Not big but fast, physical and perfect for the nickel corner spot. Same goes for TJ Graham. If he doesn't get at least a snap with the first team O next week I'm going to begin questioning Gailey's agenda. What does Derek Hagan have that Graham doesn't other than experience? That's what the preseason is for, get him some reps against actual starting D-Backs and see what happens. Searcy looks pretty solid in his open field tackling other than a few of those Webb runs (which I'd need to watch again to tell whether he was at fault). He's going to have a big role this year in TE coverage along with Scott so it's nice to seem him gelling a bit. Gilmore may not have wowed anyone last night but he definitely didn't do anything to regress in his game. The one play that stuck out to me was a fade pass on the second drive I believe in the back corner of the endzone. Wasn't fooled, didn't freak out. Just made sure he didn't interfere and locked the receiver up. We've seen enough of our guys get burned on plays like that so that was one of the few bright spots. McKillop made all of his plays except for whiffing on an open field tackle late in the game that resulted in a pretty big run after the catch for one of their TE's. He's a guy I'd like to see get some more reps in the first half rather than the second. He's proved that he can stand up to second and third string offenses, but I won't say he's in competition with Shepp until he can make some plays against first string guys. -
Love Graham thus far, can we get him some first team reps already? Sanders is as good as gone at this point. Don't care if he was a pick from this year. 6th round shouldn't secure you a roster spot. I've hated many Bills in the past for sucking. But Tashard Choice is one of the few I hate both on and off the field. Easley is a goner. Gives us nothing, see ya later, sorry about your injuries but there aren't excuses now. No way Roosevelt makes the team either. Sorry guys, love the UB roots but he's not cut out for the NFL. Tonight's LVPs starters (while understanding that it is the preseason): A. Williams, Sheppard, Glenn, Moats, Anderson (slightly), Hagan Tonight's MVPs starters (again, I get it's the preseason): Jones, Graham, Merriman, Dareus, Gilmore.

Glenn is letting Hairston back in the race for the LT spot. Holy crap none of our receivers can get open. Shepp not showing much, can't get off simple one on one blocks. Aaron Williams is shaky to say the least in man coverage. Fitz needs to have a little better pocket presense (throw in a pump fake once in a while). Too many passes into the flat for Lee Smith or guys who you know aren't do anything with the ball. Running plays honestly aren't creative. Sweep plays out of the shot gun don't always work. Throw in a draw play once in a while. Marcus Easley should not be returning kicks let alone playing WR. No burst, no separation, no assets really. Minnesota's TE's have made more plays than I'd like them to. Where's Mario? I get it, it's preseason. But one, maybe two plays? not much to ask. I'm not going to write them off based on this one half but they haven't done ANYTHING right other than a nice play from Jones. That Stevie play for instance, nice throw, nice catch, but then ruins it with the fumble. Bad penalties need to stop. That's simple disciplinary matters. VERY interested in what Gailey has to say. Just wait till post game when everyone's frustrated. Brace for impact on TBD

There's a reason he just got beat out by Arthur Moats for the starting strong side spot. Yeah he might be more of a mike, but with McKillop playing good special teams I think that makes Morrison expendable.
-
I really do think Kirk Morrison is going to get the short end of the stick. The Bills have nine LB's in total currently. In a scheme where there's going to be a maximum of 3 at most times, someone has to go. Chris White is a no-brainer. Nothing against the guy but he's shown nothing on ST or at the mike. However the rest gets difficult. Moats, Shepp and Barnett are currently the starters so let's assume they're safe. Let's also assume Nix doesn't want to give up on his draft picks so quickly, ensuring Carder and Bradham spots as well. That would leave Morrison and McKillop to battle it out for a potential last spot and I think the edge goes to McKillop simply because he's played his heart out on ST and at the back up mike linebacker spot so far in camp. In conclusion, I don't think Morrison is safe at all. EDIT: I forgot Bryan Scott too, so it makes it even more difficult for his sake.

First team D looked good enough to me for preseason game one. Youngsters like Gilmore, Potter, Brooks and Graham looked ahead of the curve. Not awful, I'm interested to see how much then can change by next friday.

Rex warns Bills to be ready for Tebow
bills1960 replied to Stevie Ray's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's his answer to our new defense? We add Mario Williams, Mark Anderson, Stephon Gilmore and switch back to a 4-3 and his solution is a gimmick offense led by Tim Tebow? First of all Tebow sucks, we all know that from week 16 of last year. As a person I respect him a lot, but as a football player I'm not scared of him whatsoever. And secondly, the wildcat hasn't worked consistently for the last 2 seasons now. It's like he's saying, "Well, the Bills better watch out because we run the flea-flicker pretty well. They won't know how many times we'll run it. 20, 30 maybe 40 times, doesn't matter." Sure Rex, you keep thinking that, and we'll see you September 9th. -

OOO bring it on! I've had enough of Ryan's big mouth for the last couple years and it has pained me that we haven't been able to field a team that can shut him up. Now we have that team and I cannot wait to embarrass them on their home turf week one. -
FA Safety Jim Leonhard Visiting Bills

I'd be very happy with this. Scrappy guy, he'll be as good a back up safety can possibly be. -
What makes Stevie Johnson so good?
bills1960 replied to You herd it hear last's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's just a great route runner. He knows how to get into position to make a play. He just has the kind of instincts that allow him to do that without being physically dominant. -
If I wasn't already in Buffalo to watch the game, I'd immediately head there from NJ to join in the festivities. I would also buy literally every piece of championship gear on sale, no matter the price.

Stadium Lease being Hammered out
bills1960 replied to Hammered a Lot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How does this apply to a potential new stadium after Ralph is replaced? That article a couple weeks ago about Jimbo and his gang of investors claimed that it was possible for the group to get a deal for a new stadium going? How does the lease effect that? -

Is this going to be a 2 hour long ripping of the franchise on the big screen? If so, maybe Russ Brandon should step in and do something about that? We may be "lovable losers" but we also have some integrity that shouldn't be jeopardized. -

I hope we use the Marv strategy and have our starters play one series a game (sometimes not even). -

Well they're both two big targets that use their size to muscle themselves off defenders. They should be good slant route threats.

Since they're not the Jets, I will. As much as i hate them, I would like to see what the new regime could bring our way.
