At Miami will be run against the run. The fins are probably not going to ask Chad Henne to come out throwing...
-
Thanks, I agree about Cleveland and added them - so my point is: it could be worse for Bill's fans and I still think we win 5 games before the bye (the good news) and only one or two after the bye (the bad).

Look at the following teams: Detroit Lions: When was the last time this team was taken seriously? (The Lions have yet to qualify for the Super Bowl) Kansas City: They have been so bad, it is surprising that they have any fans left. The Chiefs signed Matt Cassel to a six-year, $63 million contract but the one-time heir apparent to Tom Brady has not been on the field too much during the regular season. Bad luck during a preseason game resulted in a hurt knee for Cassell. (Super Bowl IV remains the club's last championship to date) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kansas_City_Chiefs Oakland Raiders: This is a team who's owner is most like the Bills; older than dirt and will not give up the control to a real football GM. Passionate fans, but just a sorry team from top to bottom. Sure the Raiders has won three Super Bowls but the Raiders also won a league-worst 24 games during the six full seasons from 2003-2008 (two fewer wins than the 26 posted by the next worst team, the Detroit Lions). Cleveland: Browns: has experienced fan riots in the dawg pound and the team was 'deactivated' for three years and more recently have had some real instability at QB. During the 2008 season the Browns used four starting quarterbacks: Derek Anderson, Brady Quinn, Ken Dorsey and Bruce Gradkowski. Also, Cleveland has neither hosted nor sent a team to the Super Bowl. Bad right now... Tampa Bay: Okay, has this team just given up for 2009? What used to be a good defense is now in shambles. No offense, no run game. This team is starting to look like it did before John Gruden’s SB win in 2002, in the late 1970s and early 1980s, when the team suffered through fourteen consecutive losing seasons. Think having good player personnel and coaching means something? So it has been tough for Bills fans, but fans from other teams have suffered too and the Bills haven't yet made the list of worst ever teams as rated by over 800 ESPN readers. Look at the Red Sox. Many fans thought they would never reach the promised land. There is always hope that the Bills can turn it around and they have not been the complete worst team and can still be fun to watch at times. Enjoy as much as you can, when you can.

Ha, Bills fans get laughed at anywhere in NY (outside of the blackout zone).
-
The bottom line is how much money is Ralph willing to spend to keep the seats filled until the team is put up for auction. Go Sabres!
-
For the last couple of years the excuse was: we need a good WR to take to pressure off Evans and open up the passing game. Enter James Hardy, but that has not panned out. TO was signed and you would never know he was on the team - less the one TD. Bills fans want to know what it will take to get the ball down the field? Not too many people liked JP, but at least he threw the ball (remember JP to Evans against the fins?). There will always be excuses, but c'mon, if not now, when are we going to throw the ball?
-
Freddie will probably lose some carries inside the 20, but the running attack should be able to stay fresh with Omon coming in too.
-
Hopefully, the Bills will be able to grind it out more and move the chains. The no-huddle is not doing the defense any favors when it is a fast 3 and out. "Going into the season, even in the off season when we knew about Marshawn's suspension, I said, 'We've got to be careful with Fred because he's a really good player and we don't want to overload him.' He had a lot of touches and did a great job," Bills coach Dick Jauron said. "Now Marshawn's back and we'll take some of that load off and evenly distribute it because both those guys are good. It'll make us a better team."
-
Aren't QBs part of the team? Short list on what makes up a successful football team: * A football and business wise GM (in that order) - we have a marketing guy. * Player Personnel/scouting - we have been below average on talent evaluation based on numerous high round busts and the inability to retain good players (Pat Williams, Antoine Winfield, Jim Leonard etc. but every team looses good players to free agency) and to obtain good players. * Coaching - playing not to loose, bad preparation and management (everyone knows the broken record here) * Owner - willing to make sure that the list above is above average * Great fans - this is the only thing the Bills have consistently have had over the years
-
No gimme, but Lynch will be back and will be coming full steam. I really think that the Bills should be able to grind it on the ground which will help the defense. The hurry-up is fine - if you're scoring points. Going three and out does not help any defense, but then to do it in fast-mode only makes things worse -- almost like as soon as the offense gets the ball, they commit a turnover - with no rest for the D.
-
right 5-3, so Jauron really might get that contract extension...yikes!
-
You are right...that is scary, but whether we win twice over Miami or not, with Lynch back, I think the defense will be good enough to help out the offense along to win 7 games...okay, maybe 6 games. So if we go 7-9 again, who will be coaching the Bills next year and will Brandon still be GM?
-
That pretty much sums it up, but as long as tickets sell, it will most likely stay the status quo.
-
I understand the whole QB situation and there isn't always a Mark Sanchez available when it is your turn to draft - so after the Bledsoe stop-gap -- and misfire on JP, the Bills, like every other team, took what they thought was their best shot at a player that they needed -- and for QB, selected Trent Edwards (remember Bill Walsh recommended?). Not sure how many times TE has been put on the ground hard, but between college and the Bills, he is probably only a couple more Pat La Fontaine type hits away from post-concussion problems. Anyway, you have to wonder why we are where we are and I agree that the coaching staff has not done us any favors, but probably the biggest thing is not having a really good GM in the mold of a Bill Polian who said in his first press conference as Bills GM, "I know the NFL well, I know its players, I think I'm prepared for the job." Well, he went on to win NFL's Executive of the Year award 5 times (1988, 1991, 1995, 1996, and 1999) and built the Superbowl winning and perennial powerhouse Indy Colts. Russ Brandon on the other hand, is an advertising guy from John Fisher College who has proved he is good at marketing tickets, but knows little about football personnel or putting a competitive football team on the field.

Right there will be a game somewhere in there that we will loose and another one where we are supposed to loose and don't.

Why is everyone so negative on this board? After all, it is only the third game and we have the hapless fins next. Wait, right after that is the equally inept Cleveland Browns. We should be 3-3 going into the Jets game and with a win over Houston and Carolina, could end up at 5-4 by week 9 (DJ keeps his job through the bye week). Then another win over Miami and another roll over KC (the Bills actually throw the ball down the field and score 52 points again) and Voila – out comes another 7-9 season. So you see? There is no reason to be negative. 7-9 has been good enough for three years and has not affected tickets sales and we are not the Detroit Lions (yet). So lighten up, keep the faith and hope that you see a playoff birth in your lifetime or before the moving vans pull up to one Bills Drive. What is up with consecutive passes in the middle of the field and not using your timeouts during a two-minute drill? When the Bills needed to run their hurry-up offense in a two minute drill, they were horrible. Bad play calling and game management and TO with no catches? What, both Evans and Lee Evans can't get open? Thought all Evans needed was another WR? Okay, so the Bills looked good against the Bucs, but so has everyone else! This team does not look any better than the winless-in-the-division team last year. Roscoe looked dazed and confused. Does DJ get fired during the bye week if the Bills only have one or two more wins by week 9? Well the only team that the Bills have beat, everyone is walking on, so what does that say about our chances with some pretty good division rivals?
-
right, Brady was 39 for 53 for 378 yards - where TE was 15 for 25 for 212. So twice as many pass attempts after Brady "warmed up". Did NE even run the ball in the second half?
-
The Bills gave Moss too much room and he killed the Bills on the slant. NE did a great job covering Evans and TO, which opened up Jackson - who lead the team with 5 catches for 83 yards and a TD.
-
Sure, there is no mistaken TE for Brady (yet), but we should win plenty of games if Trent and AVP build off of this performance. The defense was solid, special teams not so special....
-
You have got to love how Alex Van Pelt is showing the ability to mix it up and open it up. This is just what the Bills needed and it looks like they might be able to keep teams off-balance with this type of attack. Also, Fred Jackson has been great in everything the Bills have asked him to do and is a screen-pass beast.
-
Hangartner seems to be average and the Bills sure do not seem to have many players other than a punter (with all his exposure during games) in a position to be selected to the Pro-Bowl...
-
right, I picked up Jackson because of the number of touches he will get, but I also took the NE DST because they should score big with sacks on the Bill's OL. If I had to pick, the AFC has always been the preferred conference, but the Jets and Giants are from NY - so they are usually on TV, especially if you travel east in the state.
