  1. you are right...one sack is too much to expect after hearing how "fast" Maybin is coming off the corner and some fans appear to be conditioned to accept mediocrity or have bought hook, line and sinker to the annual OBD marketing plan of "he will be better next year" which is what has been said for Maybin, McCargo, Whitner TE, JP and probably a few more high level draft picks who have not made a high level impact that you would like to see after being drafted so high.
  2. ...that is what we said last year and how many years did we say that with JP? The same for Maybin...or McCargo...or Whitner or how many other bust high draft picks?
  3. Maybin 2009 - TK 9 SCK 0 INT 0 FR 0 Ranks Bills 20 11 14 9 AFC East 77 46 35 34 AFC Overall 295 186 122 122 NFL 586 387 239 261 http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/nfl/players/9275/ picked 11th overall with big $ plus sad stats = fan favorite?
  4. ...not worried either because next year it will likely be Jake Locker and a LT at the top of the next Bill's draft board. This mess will not be completely fixed in one year...
  5. Bill Walsh did not know that TE would have two concussions early in his career and would be shell-shocked into capt. check-down mode.
  6. Even more noticeable in camp has been the no-nonsense attitude and sense of grit/hard work that the new staff has been working to install. I agree completely about how TE might look good - without the worry of getting another concussion in training camp and that the big question will be protection...but it is hard to billieve that this will be a one year fix of all the aliments that this team has suffered under DJ.
  7. Playing one game a year in Canada is very different than moving the whole team there. The Bills have a stadium that sells out even in tough economic times and they have been in the top 10 for NFL attendance the last three years and among the leaders during the last ten. Why would a new owner want to risk giving that up?
  8. >> Aaron Schobel is back. maybe, but there could be a few surprises on cut-down day.
  9. Ryan Neufeld - had to be the most maddening Bill's player at TE...
  10. wow, if you think this is bad, you probably do not fit into the Bills marketing mold or might even have thoughts based on reality. <sarc> The Bills power ranking is based on reality and is pretty low for this year. The good news is there is really only one way to go and that is up. I visit this and the Sabres page to see if there are any notable off-season moves to get excited about, but so far it has been more of the same.
  11. Andy Behrens is pretty good and 30th is about right (for fantasy) - given the facts going into 2010. oh yeah, good picture of fun-lovin' Bills fans...
  12. Basically, the Bills have three low-end backup quarterbacks on their roster, and they're without a credible starter.
  13. NYS is the laughingstock of the nation with our do-nothing state government. We used to have a seemingly good Attorney General who made Governor - only to have to resign in disgrace. Is there anything new here? Someone mentioned that NYS pays some of the highest taxes. Does anyone think that if we pay more taxes, that will mean that tax dollars will be better spent? Who cares if taxpayers support the Bills? I am sure that that the Bill's money is much better spent than most other state programs that funnel money - because people actually know about it. It is the back room deals, the self-appointed salaries and payoffs that we don't know about that should be investigated. If other states can tax less and provide the same services as New York, what is it about NYS that has taxes so high and drives businesses away? BTW - go Bills!
  14. Let's hope the new stadium is quake-proof...anybody remember watching the Oakland game in 1989 (game three of the World Series) when the camera started shaking?
  15. Schobel was a good Bills player, but if he is somehow at camp this year and doesn't perform, he will get cut just like some other players from last year.
  16. The way I look at it, if this keeps Ricky below the radar and this thing works for him, too bad for opposing teams...and the chumps that called me crazy last year when I picked him up in fantasy football (ff) and then made the playoffs. BTW - if you played played ff, you know you started any running back going against the Bills.
  17. For some reason the OL has been neglected and what was probably due to stupidity and bad decisions before - is now due to there being something like a three year plan for the current regime to build from the draft and not spend dollars on free agents.
  18. Thomas seemed to be dinged up more often than not last year, which doesn't seem to help his case.
  19. Being 32 years old at a speed position gives you limited options - if you are on the fence about spending time with your family (after you have presumably made enough money playing pro football). That is where we are at...and if another team wanted him, do you think the Bills would make it hard on Schobel to leave? Did they make it hard for Thurman to leave when he went to Miami in 2000?
  20. The Bills have been among the worst in league at stopping the run, not so great on offense (see passing game) and have struggled year after year against fellow AFC East teams (see record against the Pats), so some serious changes have been required. This is a team that is clearly rebuilding and not simply reloading - and rightly so. What has been tried has not worked and it was time to try something else. The entire coaching staff is new and there are two big questions going into training camp: 1) Will we have a effective starter at QB (is there one on this team?) 2) Will we have a effective starter at LT (is there one on this team?) The coaching staff seems to think number that one is okay for now and it looks like the same could be said about number two. If not, you would think that the Bills would have brought in someone by now - so they could get acclimated with the new system (the OL could gel sooner).
  21. If the Bills really wanted another LT, he would be signed by now and would be getting up to speed with the new offense.
  22. When ranking the Bills, there are 5 things that jump out at you: 1) this is a team that is clearly rebuilding and not reloading 2) the entire coaching staff is new 3) there is no clear starter at QB (is there one on this team?) 4) there is a new play book and defensive scheme being implemented 5) there is no clear starter at LT (is there one on this team?) Does anyone think this guy really went out on a limb to pick the Bills at the bottom? What will be interesting this year is if we end the year as a team nobody wants to play instead of having opposing teams circling the date against the Bills down on the calendar as the date that both your RBs will go over 100 yards rushing. The Bills should be competitive if they can climb out of near bottom in stopping the run and can run the ball. They should have some playmakers on special teams and the secondary will hopefully help ball-hawk their way to a few wins.
  23. It's a common lament of central NY Buffalo Bills fans that SU players like Freeney, McNabb, Harrision, David Tyree and Keith Bulluck were not aggressively pursued by the Bills - especially when they have been trying to expand their east with camp in Rochester.
  24. Not having DJ is worth at least two wins if the new staff plays to win and not to lose. Getting a team to always play at their full potential and not to the level of their opponent should be the goal of every coaching staff and is what has been lacking for the Buffalo Bills for the last decade.
  25. damn, if is a Ko Simpson one, it might be WORTH MILLIONS!
