  1. I agree that the Bills OL could use some experience but Aaron Rodgers was behind a terrible line (sacked 50 times last year) and still threw for 30 TDs (4434 yards). The difference? Rodgers does not stand there like a deer in the headlights (a la JP Losman) and actually gets the ball out and down the field. Another thing that does not help - Lee Evans signed his $19 million dollar contract and has disappeared. I don't have a problem with the Bills paying him big bucks, but they are paying him to get open make plays and he isn't. He didn't make plays with TO and I doubt that he will with Steve Johnson.
  2. That was 6 total rush yards for the starting RB. oh yea, he also caught the ball 4 times and gained 8 yards. The Bills were 3-14 on third down and only had 9 first downs. The only thing worst than those stats is the deer in the headlights Edwards throwing for 5 yards with no timeouts at the end of the game. The Bills need to see if Fitz can do any better (or maybe the decision has already been made to try and get Jake Locker/Ryan Mallet next year).
  3. Okay, I know it is the only the first game of the year - first regular season game for Spiller, but trying to run around the outside is going to be a little more difficult in the NFL than it was at Clemson. The Bills showed some better success with Jackson and Lynch and should have stuck with them longer.
  4. it was 30-17 at the half and then the Bills scored and the first possession to start the third... He was probably just wondering why they couldn't score 54 points every week (and save his job).
  5. Here is a highlight from 2008 when the Bills dominated KC after the 2nd quarter...
  6. The "bills" are overdue for a winning season.
  7. so much for reports that he was going to the Vikes...
  8. Spiller was a marketing pick for fans that have suffered through three 7-9 seasons followed by a 6-10 record last year. Is was excitement pick or something to make the drive to Orchard Park a little easier. That's fine and maybe we will draft a QB next year, but unless whoever is at QB has some protection, we will likely not see much improved play. With injuries and inexperience, the Bills OL could sure use some help.
  9. If the Bills trade for anyone, hopefully it will be for a proven LT.
  10. The mere fact that fans have consistently supported this organization during thick and thin means that 95% of the fans that attend are there as fans and appreciate good performances. If the team or a player decides to not show up or stink it up, we should just cheer anyway, so that nobody in the Bills front office ever thinks that we are dissatisfied.
  11. Rochester's CW (Channel 16 on Time Warner cable) will show the game at 1pm on Sunday. 13WHAM TV will show the game on Sunday night at 7pm
  12. Thanks, there is no question that Buffalo has great fans and based on the last decade might deserve a better product on the field but at the end of the day, this is a business and just happens to be an entertainment business that to the Ralph bean counters is probably no different than the rest of Wilson Industries. The Bills are a product that you can choose to buy or not buy and Bills fans have always done their part and are well on their way to another supportive season - already selling out the first few games. My point is that maybe it is time for OBD to do their part and do what it takes to put a better product on the field? What has been tried in the last ten years has not gotten it done, so maybe it is time to try something else? Sure, a proven head coach would have been nice or maybe replacing Tom Modrak or Jim Overdorf for a real clean house would have been good, but for most fans, showing some improvement after three 7-9 seasons followed by a 6-10 season would be a step in the right direction. If most everyone is okay with the status quo, then fine, Go Bills! But for one afternoon at training camp we saw a new generation of Bills fans express their passion for better performances. Sure, they might have gone overboard or acted like the 11 or 12 year olds that they were, but moving forward to achieve more is a great thing and here is hoping we do not see another 3 and out on the Bills coaching staff or more bad QB choices. (in other words, don't get stuck dead in the water or just spin the wheels - if you are going to suite up and play, play to win - like every game will make or break you...show some killer instinct - move forward and make the playoffs!) Go Bills! (hope that helps)
  13. My nephews live near Clemson and have been big Spiller fans. It makes total sense that Spiller was an excitement pick and with the injuries this team has seen and so often in the NFL at RB, we should be glad to have a good if not great stable of RBs. Jackson, Lynch, Spiller and now Joique Bell showing some potential, the 2010 Bills might have the best RB corps in the AFC East.
  14. You are right that last year Byrd was a better play-maker, but for the last few years, it seems like Moorman was the standout. Hopefully Spiller and others excel this year and the young fans have less to heckle about - as the Bills are due to perform better.
  15. Since playoffs performances cast with real stars in Buffalo NY have become a thing of the past during the last decade, the Bills organization has faded to become a not-ready-for-prime-time players club in the town of Orchard Park, where average ability is the common thread amongst most of the current cast members and past directors have been nothing more than stage props that have been programmed to respond with simple sentences in response to the critics. Nothing against Brian Moorman, but when the punter is the best player on the team, well…what was once finely run production with great talent has evolved into a bad off-Broadway show. True fans are loyal – yes, but is it too much to maybe ask that loyalty be rewarded somehow? If you used to like a restaurant that had really good steak and seafood and some of your friends used to go there, but slowly over ten years the place started only serving cold oatmeal and for more money, how long are you supposed to show up and eat there? Especially when your friends have found better uses for their dollar somewhere else in a tough economy? It seems the marketing department is the only thing that has been above average as the faithful fans have always come back for more. Partly because there is no other show in town and limited engagement performances under the lights of Toronto have reduced the number of “home” games by one. The Bills faithful audience waiting patiently for better performances and has turned to searching for reruns of better-Bills-games-gone-by on TV Football Classics to remember how things used to be. The owner has seemingly has it on cruise control and is someone who feels that he has rewarded western NY merely by keeping the team here, but he has not gone as far as ensuring that this will be the case when he is gone. This is a kin to reaping all the profit for the only theatre in town and then telling the customers that they should not only buy tickets; but also as taxpayers, subsidize the business even more. The lure of a new Bills season is one of optimism and hope. On any given Sunday – right? Past performance is no prediction of future performance – right? (Except during the last decade in Buffalo) Maybe the coaching carousel will finally stop and the latest staff will get things headed in the right direction. Here is hoping that the patrons of the bad football arts are finally rewarded with a winning season and a whiff of post-season play. After all, there is a whole new generation of fans that have never seen a NFL playoff game in WNY and it would be great to have them experience some post-season excitement. Let's play to win, not to lose and go over .500! Go Bills!
  16. If this means that yelling at a bunch of 11 year old kids gets a win somewhere down the road, I'm all for it...
  17. yep, the scouts and player decisions have been questionable at best in for the Bills at times in the first round, but that has all changed now since...Tom Modrak and Jim Overdorf have been...replac...wait....they are still there...OMG!
  18. Why are folks ready to throw Lynch under the porsche...errr...bus? RB injuries happen all the time and why not keep 5 RBs if you are going to be a power running team?
  19. The Bills would do better in Toronto if they were able to play some type of hockey and football at the same time.
  20. Brohm and Spiller got a fair amount of reps in today's afternoon practice and it would not surprise me to see a lot of them in Toronto Thursday night. In the end zone QB can drill only TE made the can, but none of the QBs looked really good. As far as starting QB for the season, my prediction is TE will get the start and as soon as he falls apart or gets injured, Fitz will come in.
  21. Buffalo Bills RB - Fred Jackson - Hand RB - Marshawn Lynch - Ankle WR - Marcus Easley - Knee LB - Keith Ellison - Undisclosed WR - James Hardy - Undisclosed DL - Spencer Johnson - Undisclosed LB - Chris Kelsay - Shoulder LB - Paul Posluszny - Groin OT - Demetrius Bell - Knee OT - Eric Wood - Leg OT - Cornell Green - Leg
  22. Most fans realize that given the changes this year that there will be a learning curve. What most fans want to see is some improvement in discipline (less penalties), better talent (better drafting), better coaching (better execution on both side of the ball) and better game management - otherwise we will keep riding this coaching carousel round (Gregg Williams) and round (Mike Mularkey) and round (Dick Jauron) and round...
  23. Based on their performance, they need as much practice and they can get - opening day will be here soon. Unless of course the goal is to be an unwatchable mess of disorganized scrubs, because it appears that they have pretty well nailed down.
  24. New positions, new play book, new players and new staff; Thursday night in Toronto vs. Indy the projected starters should play at least a full quarter. If Chan is trying to be more physical (more contact in camp), he should be willing to get the projected starters out there for longer in the two remaining practice games.
  25. Sure, preseason games likely amount to nothing more than a televised training camp scrimmage, but most fans would like to see some improvement and some positives going forward. Yep, the good was that the Bills successfully made it to DC last night and it looked like they had their uniforms on okay, but the bad was there were little or no improvements from last year to be found. The ugly was that the Redskin scrubs made our scrubs look like they were from Division III schools and the worst part of it all was that it was painful to watch – they are just not ready for prime time. You hate to see injuries at any time during the year, but the projected starters need more playing time together before the season opener. I think TE should sit Thursday's game out - the staff already knows what they have in him and it is time to give someone else a shot.
