Obama, timetables, and cut-and-run
HardyBoy replied to finknottle's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Keep in mind though that if you forget what happend in the past your bound to repeat it. Perhaps the Iraqis are already on their feet, and just need to be given the autonomy to sink or swim. I don't know, but I am hoping that Obama has done analysis of the situation, and he thinks the Iraqis are ready, otherwise I agree the Iraqis will sink. -
The Crusades? The Inquisition? You are comparing homsexuality to pedophilia? I don't care what your beliefs are, but one is two conscenting adults, while the other can permanently scar a child. So when the Church sent out the troops to invade a nation for a grrrraaailll to bring eternal life, that was actually people acting independently of the Church? No. So you conceed that a vast majority of Islam may likely be peaceful? Vast beliefs sure, so let's lump them all together, excellent idea! Yes, patriotism is wearing a flag pin, not an ideological way of thinking. I'm not even addressing this anymore, sorry I want to, but I really don't want to say anything mean. As far as the church he attended, and Rev. Wright, I think that it brings questions up that need to be answered, but there are many reasons to choose someone as your mentor. You can addimently disagree with someone on certain topics, and still respect the means by which they got where they got to. He doesn't necissarily have to agree with everything or even anything, if he respects the way he is able to help the community he works with. I doesn't matter, I agree. If you want to approve of having a nation full of people with a moral level of 2 or if you're lucky 3 that's fine. However, I don't. And how does it harm people? Children have the potential to reach a level of morality that is different than their parents. When parents poison them with immoral retoric, I feel that is damaging their ability to attain self-actualization, and borders on child abuse.

He gave up hundreds of thousands of dollars to be a community planner. Either real stupid, nope, or he cares, and I believe that gives him experience on the subject. Also, you don't know the details about his brother. For all we know he could be a drug addict, and if Obama gave him $1000 or whatever, that would be a major diservice, and he could end up dead. You don't know the info, and neither do I, so let's refrain from any further speculation.

Nah, I like the goats better that's why I like your.... Haha couldn't finish it, but woulda been good...nice one on your part as well.

Those sheep better not come here! We got too many damn sheep here already. Man we better develop a means to detect those damn sheep, cause when they shave they sure look like goats to me. Facial recognition software is the answer!

Both worked extremely hard to get where they are trying to go, and I hope that Obama would quit before he had to compromise himself past a certain point. He also seems to have developed his relationship with his wife based on an equal admiration for their value to one another. I was thinking d'Anconia before he dropped out, but he came from too much money to make the analogy work. However, his political views are probably more in line with Obama, and I hope he isn't analogus to that fat deuche, that dude is more like Bush or unfortunetly McCain at this point.

Obama, timetables, and cut-and-run

The contigency planning was atrocious. We started a civil war that never should have started in the first place. The war should have been over in months, it has lasted years. If it was conducted properly, we would not be sitting here discussing how terrible the whole idea was in the first place. THEY SENT IN TROOPS WITHOUT PROPERLY ARMORED VEHICLES! Doesn't take a genious to realize that the insurgents would use roadside bombs to deter transportation.....oooh wait they didn't think there would be any insurgents....a total shitstorm, I agree...One of our own making. -
I believe my sarcastic response back would indicate a sense of humor, no? And comparing Obama's name to Osama Bin Laden is so played out, it isn't funny anymore; with smatterings of racism and bigotry thrown in for good measure.
-
Wow, didn't even think of it that way, thank you! Excellent point, and I will try and credit you whenever I bring that up.

Wow maybe I was wrong about tolerance. I may have to rethink the whole thing now...Thanks for the insightful response!

The Catholic Church has been responsible for SO many reprehensible acts throughout its history, yet it is no big deal when someone has attended Catholic school. However, Obama went to a Muslim school and everyone jumps on that. Yes, we were attacked by radical Muslim terrorists, yes they believe in Islam, but is it the same Islam that Obama was taught in school? He was poor growing up, wasn't he? Would you send your child to a Jewish school, or a Catholic school, or a Muslim school if that was were the best educational opportunities lay at the best price? Or would you send him or her to the public school so that he could develop the opposite of the tolerance I am sure he learned in the Muslim school? Edit: Remember rural Kansas during the 60s/70s not the most tolerant place around.

I'd say he is more like Rearden.

A lot has changed in four years. With sound strategy perhaps we would be discussing pulling out 2 or 3 years ago. Basically they effed it up to the point that we are only able to discuss a reasonable pull out now. If I have a cut, I put antibiotic ointement on it so that my own body can defend me, but if I am bleeding badly, or the cut gets infected, I need to stop the bleeding first, then take antibiotics to help my body. If he gets bashed for this, his comeback could, and should, be that you were asking me to stop a gash with a bandaid and some neosporin. -
He was elected President of Harvard Law Review = very very smart. You can disagree with his policies but I think that he has strong convictions. You don't get elected as president of Harvard Law Review and go into public policy unless you have strong convictions. He could have gone to Washington right away...he didn't. He seems like someone who would listen to an argument, and make up his mind based on the argument and his convictions. I would much rather have someone with strong convictions that I don't fully agree with (to an extent of course) than someone who is a figure head and is pushed through by the machine. Hillary was the machine, Obama is not, in my opinion. Basically I guess I can only sum it up with "Who is John Gault?"

I think what you are trying to say is left/activist. Radical is all about how far from center you are...Facists are as radical as socialists. Activism is a scary thing. Great short term fixes that can cause a lot of damage in the long term. Activist look at the constitution with an eye on interpreting it; changing it. When Obama said he wanted to go through the budget line by line and take out what doesn't work and fix what does, he has to do that because people many years ago decided to be activist and change the fundamental purpose of government. By implementing social policy that was beneficial to people at a particular time (the great depression) a precedent was set and followed. The American dream is about working hard when given an opportunity. During the Great Depression the opportunity was lacking, so the government provided opportunity, as did the Germans and ultimately the Japanese. However, when opportunity returned the government did not stop providing assistance, which eventually allowed people to become dependent on the government, not a good thing. Providing tax cuts to companies that keep jobs in America will help provide American's the opportunity without the government handing anything out. Companies will break even(tax breaks will offset the amount companies save through outsourcing) and with more people working the government can afford to give tax breaks to the middle class while still getting as much in taxes from the middle class. The government is essentially investing in the country. Yes it will seem like the government is spending more in the short run, but what is really happening is they are growing the pool of potential investors (we pay taxes so when the government invests that money, we are actually the investors). I would so much rather have Oboma being the "CEO" and in charge of my investments than someone who is going to allow corrupt corporations who are not interested in public policy controlling my American Dream.

Just to head this off; I understand cheating concerns may prevent the tests from being copied, but the homework assignments should provide a suitable base for a tutor to see where she would need help, and areas to strengthen before the test. Even more importantly they will see areas that she is exceling in, and would be able to structure their tutoring in a way to focus on her weaknesses in a particular subject using her strenghts as a way to get around her weakness. ie she is good at music, so use neumonic devices to help her learn european history, or for fractions say something like if you have two musical pieces you want to combine, but one is in 3/4 time, and the other is in 7/8 time you can't just add them together because obviously they are not the same, so you need to make them both in some time measure that works. Something like that, I don't know, I do know it's tough, I worked with kids with autism for a year, and with them it was even more important to find a method of presenting something in a way that they will attend to the task, as well as gain something out of it, not even close to simple.
-
John, Couldn't you make a copy of her homework assignments and provide those to her tutors, and ask that a copy of the tests are sent to the tutors? They won't be able to give an exact grade, as teachers have different criteria, but it will at the very least give them an idea as to what she needs to work on. This way who cares how long the teacher takes to grade the papers/assignments. Just a thought. Also, while I believe that teachers should care, they only have so much time to care. Many have children of their own, and obviously you care very much about your children you can see that if they needed to keep every parent(or even a handful) updated regularily this might impinge on the time they are able to spend with their children/family, and I'm not sure that that is fair either.

Veteran WR would be good pick up for bills

And putting a guy like Andre Reed, or Moulds in their prime into your starting lineup at expense of Hardy as a rookie is something you don't want? It's a win now league, no? -
A first round draft choice next year? With Boldin the Bills might have one of the best, if not the best, receiver corps in the league. He is a player in/entering his prime and would be absolutely perfect in Buffalo. Not sure how the money works out, but you gotta think about it, eh?
-
You could also say that if the Bills valued Losman less they would have made a trade with said teams.

Who is your surprise cut this season?

Wes Welker. Enough said, don't be silly.
