  1. Both Hangertner and McKinnie are good signings if they were to serve as versatle backups. However, we both know that the braintrust considers them starters and now feels the interior has been addressed. In addition, it probably gives them enough comfort level to trade Peters, since one of Chambers or Bell is bound to be great. Another year without adding any quality OL with skills and upside on to drafting some more DBs to play in a soft zone
  2. DBs only make a difference is the scheme allows them to utilize their coverage skills. The Bills scheme has the CBs playing 10 yards off the ball in soft zone. It is stupid and counter-productive to keep spending premium picks on DBs when you don't utilize the skills that made them high picks in the first place.
  3. Bennie Anderson and Mike Pucillo started for the Bills does not make them any good just that the Bills are inept are finding quality OL -whether acquired thru the draft or as free agents. when they try to spend resources on the OL, they fail miserably with Mike Williams and Derrick Dockery when they luck out on a quality player in Peters, they butcher his contract situation and will eventually run him out of town
  4. you are correct. the bills have their OL now more career scrubs and castoffs, magically becoming stud starters when arriving in Buffalo (must be something at the airport that helps with the transformation) even if they trade Peters, they will start either Chambers or Bell and blame it on the QB when he gets killed. time to draft some more DBs
  5. he sure does and his expertise on finding quality OL players is just legendary in fact, it is one of the primary reasons the Bills have had such a legendary playoff run during Big Tom's tenure in Buffalo since 2001.
  6. the guns they carry around
  7. Peters was not getting a new contract even if he showed up Brandon told him in January that they would not re-do his deal with 3 years left. Peters had no other option to convey his displeasure with the Bills position. even after promising to re-do his deal when he returned to the team, they dragged their feet until the season ended before making an offer.
  8. so the Panthers could not keep him if he is so good, then why didn't the other 30 teams in the league to offer him even a moderately priced contract. how did the Bills steal him on the cheap???? the answer is because he is a backup being spun up as a starter by OBD.
  9. Dick did not have near the power over the draft he now has in Buffalo. the Chicago history is meaningless to how he will draft in Buffalo
  10. If they trade Peters, even if they spend the first 4 picks on the OL, history indicates that they will still screw it up and end up with poor players They are totally incompetent at identifying what makes a quality OL. Whether blowing the #4 pick on a fat RT instead of taking the stud LT, or paying $50 mil for a G they cut 2 years later, the front office (read Linda Bogdan) is totally inept at scouting OL talent in college, the pros or on their own team. the only quality LT they have had in 15 years was pure luck as they actually cut him. Good luck with that OL in 2009 if they trade Peters
  11. I find it interesting that everyone cites Peters need to be the highest paid tackle as a hard demand, when he has refused to negoitate thru the media and has made no public comments at all about his contract. The only info available is the propaganda put out by Brandon's spin doctors. The Bills are probably the only team in the league that does their negotiating thru the media.
  12. Maybin is Mike Mamula is ugly Penn State white. he is strong safety blitzing on every down from the DE position he'd be even worse than our midget DEs at stopping the run teams would never need to pass when they can average 5 yds /carry over the midget DE
  13. only Denney is moderately good against the run the rest of the DEs are useless in fact we have only 1 DL (Stroud) that's any good against the run the Bills could use a real life size DL instead of the midgets they have been trying to get away with
  14. you are correct after striking gold with Brady & Cassell with low round picks in NE, and being smarter than everyone else since he is from NE,why would McDaniels waste a 1st round pick on a QB. Orton / Simms will be fine in the NE system in 2009 and they will take a low round QB to groom for the future (one that will be willing to cheat under the NE system)
  15. the front office would actually have to talk to Peters agent to make progress so forget anything getting done before the draft. they will trade him for fewer picks than he is worth (some of which will be next year)- then promptly butcher those picks due to incompetent talent evaluation
  16. Jackson is who the bills should draft - someone big enough and strong enough to actually play the DL in the NFL. not some midget DE they try to hide in coverage the Bills already have a bunch of "speed" rushers that can't get to the QB and get destroyed againt the run
  17. you have hit on a very key point Even if the Bills want to acquire OL, they are totally incompetent at identifying what makes a quality OL. Whether blowing the 4th pick on a fat RT instead of taking the stud LT, or paying $50 mil for a G they cut 2 years later, the front office (read Linda Bogdan) is totally inept at scouting OL talent in college, the pros or on their own team. the only quality LT they have had in 15 years was pure luck as they actually cut him. If they trade Peters, even if they spend the first 4 picks on the OL, history indicates that they will still screw it up and end up with poor players. they may be the reason why they keep drafting DBs - because they are good at it
  18. Walker can't pass block effectively on the right side against inferior DEs, without continuous TE help. He should be playing G
  19. Jake Grove- the C Parcells signed would be a much better option but what does Parcells know about builidng a football team whoever the Bills sign at this point will not be an upgrade, just filler like for the last 15 years. they need to spend premium picks on the OL
  20. And another team's castoff at C, who can't handle nose tackles looks like another stellar year on the OL in Buffalo
  21. because the 2 top LT who could start will be gone by #5. you are seriously delusional if you think Clady is better than Peters. but that is the problem with the Bills, they have no ability to evaluate and grade OL talent (their own, draft picks or free agents) they cut Dockery for god knows what reason, and he is signed the next day (if not the same day). The Bills have no ability to identify and draft OL talent - why will that change in 2009??
  22. The Bills have not seriously upgraded the OL in 15 years. Good teams build their OL thru the draft. Dick Levy has not spent a draft pick better than a 5th rounder on the OL under his watch. For the last 11 years, the Bills brain trust has spent all of 4 draft picks in the top 4 rounds (4 out of 48 picks)on the OL they have brought in numerous free agents who they sold as solid upgrades, but who were nothing more than castoffs and re-treads worse than the garbage they were replacing. Carolina needed to get better at C because their 5th round flyer on Hangaratner was not good enough. They spent a 2nd round pick on a real NFL caliber C and let Hangartner go to the Bills - who sell him to their fans as a big upgrade. He's a versatle backup who can't handle big nose tackles - as proven to the Carolina coaching staff by his being abused by Kris Jenkins for 3 years. Next - they voluntarily cut their LG before and without any hope of replacing him with an upgrade. Stupid and shortsighted. Worse- they refuse to extend the one guy on the OL with ProBowl talent and risk another season of distractions for no good reason. All of those skill position players will be wasted without an OL. Although not his fault, TO will totally destroy Trent's confidence be blasting him for not getting the ball down the field. Hard to throw from your back.
  23. if they screw up the Peters deal and trade him, the bills offense will be totally non-functional. they won't score 18 Tds in total.
  24. Pettigrew is not a pass catching TE that they need to stretch the field. He runs slower that many OL He may be a force as blocker - but don't think he will be an impact offensive weapon. The Bills would be better offf drafting Ingram in the 2nd round - he has the speed and athleticism to run the seam and be a playmaker.
