  1. Exactly like when Brandon told Peters in January 2008 there would absolutely be no extension, but told the media all he had to do was show up to get a new deal.
  2. start with not drafting thugs - what do expect from players with rap sheets in college???
  3. the reason Roscoe has not been more a factor on offense is because our OC, his play design and play calling have been incompetent. The coaches job is to get the ball to your playmakers. Both Roscoe and Evans have been severely under-utilized. don't expect any improvement in 2009, especially with a downgraded OL
  4. too bad our clan of thugs has no gamebreaking talent to get that ring covering up for crappy players when they commit crimes is just not worth the effort bills fans need to demand a better quality of criminal
  5. looks like Tim Graham is as good at talent evaluation as the Bills - so the deal probably gets done and the Bills can grab another slow, backup LB that can only play STs great exchange for one of the few playmakers on the team
  6. but the Bills need that extra pick to draft another slow, small back up LB who can only play ST
  7. The Bills have a window of time to salvage this situation. they need to get Peters extended before the mandatory team activities start. IF Brandon continues to play tough guy and require that Peters "show up and then we talk"- he is simply asking for a disaster. right now - he has a mulligan to solve the problem however- he really does not want to open pandora's box by drawing a line in the sand and hold off negotiating until Peters shows up. Nothing is gained by this grandstanding, except boxing both parties into their positions. swallow the pride and get the deal done
  8. it's also why teams pay huge money to LTs (like Peters) who has the physical tools to handle those DEs. we already have one- just pay the guy before it turns into another protracted holdout & pissing match
  9. that's the problem - the Bills take key players for granted from Fred's perspective, he probably feels his value just went thru the roof and he won;t be signing that 1 year tender anytime soon. Why would he not take advantage of the situation? He produced last year and the Bills rewarded him with the minimum 1 yr tender for an RFA thanks a lot I guess the Bills won't like the advice his agent will be giving him either.
  10. if they are going to sign thugs, they should at least get thugs that are playmakers and game changers so far we just got the thug part
  11. too bad Fred is not signed to a contract
  12. Smith is more likely to be a Mike Williams clone than a dominant NFL player. people complain about Peters dedication - but want to replace him with a guy that couldn't stay interested for a few months before the biggest payday of his life how fat will he get after he gets the big bonus??? no thanks
  13. what's more scary is that Brandon was the baseball marketing genius for the low rent Marlins before he joined the Bills.
  14. if Dick Levy drafts even one in the top 4 rounds, it will be his first as a Bill.
  15. that was August Brandon screwed up in January when he laid down his no extension edict. Brandon should have eaten his pride after Peters took a stand - and got a deal done to avoid the long out.
  16. that was August Brandon screwed up in January when he laid down his no extension edict. The Bills are delusional if they think Chambers can handle elite pass rushers
  17. are you his mother or president of the Buffalo Bills Homers Club. Lynch is a thug who has generating a recurring series of thug-like events. A loaded gun is a dangerous weapon, especially in possession of thugs under the influence. unbelievable that you continue to defend this guy you'd still be in his corner after he "accidentally" shoots someone who didn't get out of his way - like the woman he ran down and left lying on the pavement
  18. "you don't lete players walk all over your organization" then your organization should not put itself in such situations re-do contracts for your elite players so they don't develop into embarassing situations don't make promises you don't intend to keep - since it further destroys the team/player relationship
  19. interesting that Peters has taken the high road and made no demands thru the media - this year or last year. thus all of the conclusions that he wants to be the highest paid LT are pure speculation fostered by Brandon and his spin masters to slant public opinion.
  20. your hate would be mis-directed try directing it at Russ Brandon who had the power last year to sign him and make this all go away.
  21. well why would they want a happy player if they are going to screw their best player and put their QB at risk, why would they reward a nobody RB who has no leverage.
  22. Dean- you need to get me a prescription for those rose colored glasses you are wearing. Your comments make a lot of sense - until you put them in context of the talent level of the rest of the team and what else was available. Sure, there are more than 1 way to build a contender. Unfortunately, the Bills have proven over the last 10 years that their method of spending premium picks on DBs and WRs does not translate to the playoffs. Why not try what the successful teams do, and build a team to control the line of scrimmage. 1. Peters development into a top LT has been a huge success. Finding a pro Bowl LT as an undrafted FA is lucky, especially since they were so convinced he was a diamond in the rough that they cut him outright. In fact, if they valued his performance, they would have extended him last year, instead of jerking around their best player- just because Brandon wanted to send a message. 2. Whitner is a solid player - you are probably right that the Bills got what they expected. Most teams, however, would demand that a top 10 pick be a playmaker and game changer - especially when Ngata was available to fill a huge hole and has been dominant. 3. You say the Bills have improved the talent over the last 3 years and are ready to contend. That may have been true, if they didn't gut the OL and are ready to finish it off by giving away their one elite player. Hard to see how all of these improvements they have made will amount to any more wins when the OL is regressing faster in the opposite direction. 4. The mess left by TD was greatly compounded by cutting and trading players prematurely, thus creating even a bigger talent drain. they were then forced to spend money and picks just to get back to where they started, instead of improving pre-existing holes. They did it again by cutting Dockery, after spending the big money on him. Now we have another retread castoff set to start at OG and OC. Should look real pretty with Chambers or Bell at LT after they move Peters.
  23. Brandon told Peters and his agent in January 2008 that there would be no new deal in 2008. The action is what prompted the Peters hold out and subsequent posturing by Brandon. Brandon subsequently changed his tune and promised Peters the Bills would propose a new deal if he reported. Peters reported and it took Brandon until December to propose the new deal. Between Janaury 2008 and now, big money deals have been signed which drove up Peters price significantly (which obviously is a shock to the Bills brain trust) The Bills better sign Peters before this year's top 5 LTs start signing or the money will escalate even more.
  24. lack of motivation and commitment to improve I guess you are right 4 years ago, he was an undrafted TE prospect then he magically woke up 1 morning and he was a Pro Bowl LT with absolutely no effort put in to "improve" himself I see your point My guess is NFL GMs are drooling at the prospect of stealing an elite LT for a couple of picks from a clueless franchise, and spinning things to the press to make it happen
  25. passing yards allowed is a deceptive stat for the Bills because teams are able to run at will the yards may be down but the secondary is not stopping 1st conversions when it counts. how many times have the Bills had their CBs 7 yards off in a 3rd and 5. how many times do they blitz on 3rd down and force a quick throw, but the CBs are playing in another zip code. it's great if you want to play a soft passive scheme that matches the coach's zombie personality- but don't waste premium picks on cover CBs who have trouble playing in a soft zone.
