now wait a minute. that is just not true in fact, the Bills just today upgraded their front office at the VP level. see below of course it clearly highlights they put a much higher priority on selling tickets, than finding and evaluating players Bills hire Popko as senior VP business development Associated Press Last updated: 3:46 p.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2009 ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Bruce Popko will take over as the Buffalo Bills senior vice president of business development. Named to the post on Wednesday, Popko joins the Bills after working for IMG, where he oversaw the international sports marketing firm's golf events. He previously worked as a marketing and business executive with the Cleveland Browns, San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets. His responsibilities in Buffalo will include overseeing corporate sales and the team's regionalization strategy, which includes the Bills playing annual regular-season games in Toronto. Popko fills the post vacated by Pete Guelli, who left to become the NBA Charlotte Bobcats' executive vice president and chief sales and marketing officer.

Dick is here for the duration. next year's excuse is that they didn't have enough talent - especially on the OL but they conveniently will leave out the part that the front office gutted the OL and are directly responsible for the decrease in talent.

you need to understand history to understand the present and future go and google the history of the Florida Marlins to find the roadmap for the Bills under Russ Brandon While with the Marlins, Brandon learned from the masters at keeping the payroll at a minimum while getting rid of all players good enough to deserve good pay. The Marlins did win 2 World Series using this approach - but they had Larry Beinfest to find the young talent to stock the shelves and good to great coaching to turn that talent into a winner Unfortunately, the big differences in Buffalo are 1. Modrak and Guy are incapable of finding quality talent 2. the GM in Buffalo has been taken to the cleaners on trades 3. the coaching is less than laughable. now you know the game plan -so don;t be surprised by the Parrish & Kelsey salary dumps to follow the exodus of Peters

If the Bills were to trade Jason Peters and drafted a OT
spartacus replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
they would then have too many OTs and would have to cut one of Chambers, Bell or Walker not to mention that would take up a roster space from a DB or backup LB capable of only playing STs -
Did anyone here likes the O-line from last season??

just curious- where are these "outstanding FAs" going to materialize from? no impact FAs are on the market, let alone in Buffalo's price range if you mean, 2nd and 3rd string castoffs that the Bills will spin to be borderline Hall of fame talent that got a bad deal with their former team - then I stand corrected -

well I hope Ralph splurged this year and let them subscribe to more than just Mel Kiper's draft magazine. -
I agree making the playoffs is way overrated. let those other good teams waste their post-season chasing the Super Bowl It's way more fun to be a Bills fan and watch with amazement how astute how front office is at dismantling the team but spinning it in such a masterful way that season tickets still get sold. No other team has the privilege of promoting world peace by conducting playoff like games in Canada, especially when it is so hard to win in the NFL. proud to be Bills fan

let me help you with the logic you say the Bills have spent a lot of money on the OL - but the players just didn't pan out maybe there is a correlation between the guys at OBD doing the talent evaluation and the continuous whiffing on OL production I know this may be a reach - but maybe the Bills front office is a little weak in evaluating OL talent - which is why the players they bring continually under perform (regardless of how much they spend or what draft picks they use) you do realize they get paid to find good players - and maybe there should be some accountability for all that big money spent on players not panning out. Extrapolating forward, those same guys (and Linda Bogdan) are still doing the talent evaluating - so excuse me if I cringe when they assemble the next version of an OL. -
be sure to take your umbrella with you today I hear there are pigs flying everywhere
-
you have faith now ?? based on what ? must be those deals where we overpaid to pick players that would have been available at our original spot
-
neither Denver or Washington will be drafting a QB in round 1.
-
once he gets into the drug enhancers that POZ is using, he will get strong in no time real nasty too hope he doesn't want kids though
-
that would be Jan 2008 and Brandon shut him down completely with no new deal to be offered in 2008. - so he acted accordingly. His actions don;t make Bills fans happy - but Peters got his new deal when that would not have been possible playing by the Bills rules. A big bonus for Jason is that he will contend for a ring every year - which certainly is not happening in Buffalo anytime soon.

You bet !! The Bills have demonstrated a tremendous wisdom when drafting for the OL although not sure why they would need to pick an OL when they have Bell and McKinnie ready to go (someone may want to tell them its Seth, Bryant though) so I am confident that whoever they pick will be an uber-stud who far outplays his draft position All that talk about Oher and Smith being fat and unmotivated is just a diversionary tactic. Our guys know the real deal. just look how well their due diligence paid off on the Mike Williams selection. Super Bowl Baby!!!

I'll believe Ozzie after he drafts him before then - he 's just posturing
-
but the Bills draft them when they have gaping holes everywhere else but CB
-
well now that Peters and Dockery are gone - the Bills can get back to their favored practice of using has beens and castoffs for the OL. It must have been killing the front office to have a serviceable OL for the first time since 1994.
-
you are mistaken The Bills only look to draft DBs early when the draft is on a day ending in "Y"
-
An Interesting Note on the Peters Trade:
spartacus replied to lets_go_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
don't worry Bills have it covered they will be drafting an extra CB / S in the first round just for that purpose. -
What position will the Bills draft with the 11th?
spartacus replied to Justice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
you left off DB - could be that game changing safety -
Clayton says Bills likely not done dealing

wait a minute Hardy is tall that by itself should get him to a Pro Bowl or two all that other stuff like running routes and catching the ball is way overrated. -
there is no need to waste top picks on the OL. As you note, the Bills have flourished for the last 15 years with castoffs and has beens. The Bills are set with Chambers, Walker and Bell at the tackles. Obviously if they drafted a OT, one of these fine young studs would have to be cut. The Bills have also added 2 quality interior lineman to upgrade from last year. Hangartner and McKinnie may not be well known but the Bills front office has been awesome at finding these diamonds in the rough that other teams have somehow overlooked. The Bills will be looking DB to cover themselves when McGhee becomes a cancer this year and wants an extension - the nerve wanting to be paid after his contract expires
-
How do YOU grade Buffalo's off-season, thus far?
spartacus replied to Justice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
as a 5th round pick, he has to start.how could those low round draft picks not be good?? why else would the Bills turn down a 3rd rounder from Phillie and take a 4th and 6th next year for Peters? -
Bills interested in DT John Henderson

Score!?! this team will have difficulty converting third downs
