  1. As usual, you are wrong again. 1. Brandon stated point blank that Peters would not get a new deal in 2008, since he had 3 years left. Pretty clear indication of what the Bills plan was. Although not in Lori's article, Brandon made this statement to Peters very early in 2008 - which led to his holdout. 2. During camp, as stated, Brandon promised to make Peters a priority after Evans was signed. (They dicked Evans around and did not sign his deal until several weeks into the season) You may consider it a priority when the Bills make an offer AFTER the 2008 season concluded. Brandon was true to his plan not to give Peters a new deal in 2008 and the offer they did finally provide was not for 2008. so - the answer is NO - there never was a new deal for Peters during the 2008 season.
  2. don't forget the Bills also had to use a 2nd and 5th for the privilege of drafting JP. it seems most of the trade ups by the Bills ended up being reaches on players who never produced as hyped.
  3. security needs to be tightened at OBD. who ever heard of DL coaches breaking in and just coaching on their own. if only Dick knew these screamers were crappy coaches - the Bills would have made the playoffs years ago!! good thing they got those screamers out of town so they don't hurt McCargo's feelings any more
  4. Now you know why it's hard to win in the NFL in DICKs' world.
  5. probably the part that results in teams running for 128 yards / game
  6. Terrence Pennington started half a season - before getting cut outright Keith Ellison is still starting the beat goes on. just because he is starting does not mean he is any good
  7. NO Brandon told Peters in January there was to be NO new deal in 2008 - he still had 3 years left. Brandon admitted to this at the time of the Peters trade. they wanted Peters to play at his current salary and would talk in 2009. Peters had other ideas - but not alot of options
  8. Hi Russ nice to see you trying to influence the masses on a message board I see you still don't understand that winning teams accumulate elite talent - which requires fair market compensation- instead of running them out of town. When a team lucks out and picks up a player without spending a high pick who turns into a superstar- the team should be more than willing to reward him with a fair market contract and pat themselves on the back for great talent evaluation. Playing hardball with your best player "because you can" is the wrong message you are sending to your own team and future free agents. Your comment about setting bad precedent is just stupid. If all of the multiple pro bowlers playing LT on the team lined up to get new contracts, it would be an awful short line. Reward superior play with fair contracts and there is no problem.
  9. what a shock!!! The Bills wasting another premium pick on an DB who they will let walk after his 1st contract. At least this time the DB isn't a stud whose loss will hurt
  10. sure they had to build the inside after a decade of trying low budget cast offs and scrubs However, the truly galling part is that they already had the "outside" in place. they had the hardest to find piece of the puzzle at LT who was only 26 and could have grown with the rookies and they pissed it away starting in 2008 trying to save a few bucks. Now, they will first waste the season with Walker at LT and then as you state will spend another high pick and big money on an unproven rookie. The smartest move they should make is to replace every scout & talent evaluator who has contributed to the OL mess over the last decade.
  11. which means he is only 2 or 3 times better than Ellison right now.
  12. not surprising since the Bills utilized max protect packages the least of any team in the league- which meant Peters was getting zero help with every tea's best pass rushers and blitzers. hate to see the carnage this year when Turk continues his failed schemes with lesser talent at the tackle spots.
  13. Hardy was slow to recognize he was the hot read which caused Trent to hold the ball. Hardy was as responsible as Walker was for getting our QB maimed if Hardy runs the quick slant, he probably scores a TD -= not falls down for a short gain. With success like that, the Cards would blitz all day long if the worst they give up is 8 yards and take out the QB.
  14. even in the no-huddle - they will not let Edwards call his own plays unlike when Kelly ran the no-huddle, Turk will continue to control Trent through his helmet receiver. the only difference is that they will get the play calls in late while Trent stands at the line instead of standing in the huddle.
  15. here we go again all those inept offensive threats from the last 3 years are still on the team They added exactly ONE 35 yr old WR who may have already hit the wall. and kept the incompetent coaching staff how this is going to turn into an unstoppable offensive juggernaut is beyond me
  16. now if you could move the NE OL coach to Buffalo - you might have a chance to be successful. unfortunately the Bills have a bad OL coach who severely underperformed with a vet Ol last year. why anyone thinks he can quickly mold 2 rookies and 5 guys playing new positions into a cohesive unit is pretty optimistic.
  17. that might be true if Byrd had actually played a down at S in college. he is a slow CB who needs to switch positions to hopefully use his ball skills at FS. if he starts at FS game 1, the Bills will set new records for how far off the line they play their safeties.
  18. 1. He not only had the most TDs - but the most dropped passes as well. Pretty strange that a player with TO's production over the last 3 years was basically unwanted by every team in the NFL except the Bills. Maybe all the teams with professional talent evaluators concluded that at 36 he has hit the wall. 2. TO was paired in Dallas with one of the best pass receiving TEs in the NFL and an excellent running game. 3. He also had a QB that was allowed to throw downfield. Unfortunately, he is now in the land of the checkdown - whether that is by coaches design or Trent's fear - either way it does not bode well for Evans or TO. 4. The no-huddle will likely cause more confusion in the 5 guys playing out of position on the Bills OL than the defensive front 7 they will face. Any success in running or passing the ball will depend on these guys getting on the same page quickly AND being able to play at an NFL quality. 5. Turk has not risen to anything more than a crappy coach in 10 years, why is he going to see the light now? Back to the original question - other than TO (who may have hit the wall), who are the stud players that increase the talent for the Bills to challenge for the best record in the AFC??
  19. Unfortunately the Patriots will not be as nearly impressed with the Bills offense as you seem to be. they will not play on their heels and worry about stopping TO. they will come out in their base 3-4 defense and come after the QB until the Bills shiny new OL proves they can stop it. TO is not a threat if Trent is running for his life. to further confuse the situation, they will alternate a full frontal assault with dropping the LBs and forcing Trent to make a play. Trent could not handle it last year- so he will be tested again..
  20. agreed these guys could be almost as good as other highly touted premium picks like McCargo, Mike Williams & Hardy let's see how they play with pads on before drafting their HOF induction speeches
  21. Defenses will do the same thing they have for most of the last decade - they will pressure the Bills QB they will try to exploit and confuse the rookies they will run past Walker they will create mismatches they will not need to double cover the WRs because Trent will not have time to do much other dump it off
  22. no spin is needed. a decade of failure is proof enough
  23. who are these players that have increased the talent level from 2008 by such a huge margin to challenge for #1 in the AFC? The Bills basically added a 35 yr old WR who drops a lot of passes and may have already hit the wall. With his addition, you are convinced that the offense has become an unstoppable juggernaut even though the same clown coaches are running the show. The additions on the OL got the Bills younger, but probably not better for 2009. The OL performance may discount whatever improvements they made to the skill positions.
  24. hot dam!! then that shoots down the theory that she could have hired a contract killer
