newsflash- Saints beat the Bills by 20 looks like they were mighty successful to me although Brees did not have huge stats, Thomas ran for 124 yds & 2 TDs in a half - which is how you punish a team that plays 10 yards off the ball with even deeper safeties.
-
you are right - Brandon has not made many moves except for gutting the OL of Peters, Dockery and Walker and relying on Scott and Chambers ( a guy bad enough that the Bills cut him) to man the OT spots where did all the money they saved from the above cuts go ???? other than TO (who paid for himself with ticket sales) NONE of it was spent to improve the product on the field way to go Russ - Ralph sure appreciates it!!!
-
and they paid him his roster bonus in March. Really freakin stupid they should have paid Dockery his bonus in March too and spent some time trying to arrange a real trade for both of them- before giving both of them away for nothing

your basic premise is horse-hockey WRs on every team in the NFL catch passes 15-25 yards downfield every Sunday without "getting behind the coverage". There are holes in the zone all over the field, which we are miserable at exploiting because Trent will not throw the ball unless the the DB has essentially fallen down to leave the WR wide open. Our offense is so predictable because the only guys going deep into the double coverage are TO and EVans basically on every play. change it up and send the TE deep and throw a screen, slant or crossing pattern to TO when he has only the short guy to beat. Good offenses are designed and executed to get their playmakers the ball so they can make plays. The Bills offensive philosophy is to castrate itself by using its playmakers as decoys and to be content to throw checkdowns and then punt to complete the 3-and-out

Brandon told Peters in janaury 2008 that the would not get a new contract in 2008 which is what caused him to skip all off-season activities prior to the 2008 draft. The Bills shipped him out of town in 2009 before camp started so he couldn't have held out this year.
-
the front office needs to go as well after 15 years, they finally decide to spend high draft picks on the OL but in the same off season they create utter chaos by purging Peters, Walker and Dockery to save money. Fine they are overpaid, but good teams don't gut the OL until better replacements are in place. Knowing they were to play hardball with Peters in 2008, they should have drafted Ryan Clady to give them the leverage to do so - no another injury prone cover CB who they play in soft zone 10 yards off the WR.
-
you are correct any shlep should be able to block in the back and kill any positive return yardage they manage to generate
-
but the players like Dick
-
they should have drafted Ryan Clady at LT LAST year knowing that they were going to play hardball with Peters in 2008. McElvin is another small injury prone guy that Dick loves to pick. Not keeping Peters is the beginning of this mess and was totally self inflicted. They should have kept Dockery as well until they had proved they had a better replacement on the roster. They basically cut Dockery to use his money to sign Peters, then did not sign Peters. And then they cut Walker and saved his salary as well - but still did not bring in any re-inforcements for either OT spot.

your first clue that the play design sucks is when your 2 WRs run the same plays into double coverage by the deep safety over and over and over and over. . . maybe a crossing route or WR screen to get the WR the ball before the safety can apply the 2nd layer of coverage yeah the play design absolutely blows

Certain performance enhancing drugs have the side effect of making bones more brittle. Combined with soft training camps, lack of hitting to get in game shape and piss poor training habits could be contributing to the rash of injuries (every year that Dick has been in charge)

if we lose to miami does jauron get fired?
spartacus replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
don't confuse me with the tightwad that owns this team The NFL is a coaches league where the winners are smart enough to hire the best and brightest coaches and front office because they are not subject to any salary cap. Good coaches make the talent better thru schemes and training. Top notch front office finds good players, period. Dick is a joke and the front office is a clown show - bothj should have been terminated years ago -

why keep Dick around? because Ralph owes him $6 million no matter if they do not win another game this year, Ralph will not be paying that $6 mil plus more for a new coach and staff -
McGhee was great. he held Moss to 12 catches just shut him right down
-
with the move to IR, McElvin should be able to qualify as a "rookie" in Bills fantasy land well into next year, just like POZ sometime next decade he may be ready to play at an NFL caliber level
-
you are right it is much better to spend the big bucks on cover CBs and play them in a soft zone 10 yards off the WR
-
maybe those broken bones are caused by the side effects of some chemical being introduced to those player's body. something which may cause bones to become more brittle than normal or maybe its just a really big coincidence

good thing we don't have to play against Rex Ryan and his aggressive schemes -
I guess you should have paid attention to the 3rd base coach
-
maybe at some point our crackerjack OC will put in a WR quick slant as a hot read instead of having our decoy WRs run fly patterns all day long. but hey- why change what has been working so well.

pretty sad commentary that a rookie with zero practice is more trusted than our top 10 superstar S.
