Some things I have liked about Nix so far..
spartacus replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
well if Promo says Ralph is now a big spender, then its a done deal. the history is compelling. Ralph comes out and says a total revamp will be forthcoming and he does not disappoint with the big bucks for a new GM and complete overhaul of the front office after conducting a comprehensive search How can he not spend big bucks on a new HC and entire staff - in his 50 years of ownership, when has he not made the coaching a top priority and spent the big bucks to back it up Thanks Promo for your assurances -
a completely speculative theory about Nix and AJ Smith

He may have been a good LBs coach under Wade anything past that was way past his capabilities fired from 4 teams as a DC is not a resume to build on. but past success in some lower capacity seems to be the criteria for hiring in Buffalo -

If Nix thinks Ted Cottrell is a good coach, then the Bills will be in deep trouble when he applies that skill set to the new Bills HC. -

A quality NFL coach making a decision that will significantly impact the rest of his career might just be a little more skeptical of the smoke and mirrors being employed (again) by the Bills than most overly optimistic Bills fans. Slapping some new titles on the existing clown show may not be enough sway a potential HC with half a brain. -
Has anything really changed at OBD?
spartacus replied to gjv001's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
remains to be seen if this was anything more than new titles being handed out new scouts and front office need to be added ASAP to replace Modrak and Guy Since Nix has been here for a year there really is no excuse why those 2 clowns have not been fired already. There is no need to transition to the new regime. -

hey it was only Ralph who said it live during the PC but he's incoherent and senile so that does not count -
THis is from espn.com......i like what Nix is about

Polian was not hired from outside the Bills to be the GM he was already a scout working under another one of Ralph's inept GM hires, Terry Bledsoe. When promoted, Polian was another of Ralph's cheap internal promotions, on which Ralph struck lightning in a bottle. As they say, lightning does not strike twice in the same place. Levy had the good fortune to coach a teamful of Hall of Famers, put together by Polian. Marv's actual coaching ability is pretty suspect and should be reviewed in light of how many coaches he developed under his "tree" and moved into top jobs in the NFL. about none -
so why is Weis & Harbaugh on your list neither has been an NFL HC which is night and day from college
-
so if the GM was so important, 1. why did they wait so long to hire Buddy as the inside guy? 2. If Buddy was the guy, why has he been kept out of the coach search? 3. if Cowher is the guy, what is the problem with announcing the Nix /Cowher package at the same time- why the big need to announce the GM now? More likely the Nix hire as GM means Cowher will NOT be the coach as he wants to bring his own people, probably Kevin Colbert from Pittsburgh and he has enough juice to make that happen. 4. if the story is as you state, why didn't Ralph read the memo

With our new GM wanting a big, rough team
spartacus replied to scribo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Nix has half a brain in his head, he won't cut loose functional players who may not fit long term until he has better replacements on the roster. The past practice of purging the roster of functional players just so we are forced to spend premium draft picks to fill holes instead of accumulating talent and playmakers was ludicrous. losing out on Ngata because they had to draft Whitner as an immediate starter because they cut Milloy has been standard operating procedure for the Inner Circle Jerk. We will see if things change -

Sam Bradford is the exact opposite of who Nix would draft at QB he is fragile, frail and injury prone- and played in a spread offense look for someone more in the mold of big and strong- like Big Ben (and Kelly before him) -
Ralph IS cheap when it comes to the front office and talent evaluators. which is why the team is not competitive on the field

Who was the other "in house" candidate? John Guy?
spartacus replied to BADOLBILZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
since the Bills felt no need to go outside the organization, why it take them this long to hire Buddy after firing Dick if he was so good?? wouldn't the smart move have been to hire Buddy and have him heavily involved in the HC search - which by his own admission he has not bee kept in the dark about. -
you must be new here. posts like this will really bother the media members that post here in their defense, the Bills organization goes out of their way to alienate the locals and shut them out of all information, choosing instead to release stories to the national outlets. The paranoia runs deep. Not sure why they hate the locals, but some background here would be helpful.

this is most definitely true. whether Buddy can evaluate talent is not really the issue. The unanswered question is how much power does he have compared to Ralph, Brandon and the rest of the Inner Circle Jerk. Although Buddy may be qualified to be GM (although no other team in the NFL thought so), nothing substantive has changed regarding the Inner Circle Jerk. Titles have changed, but the players are the same. From the press conference, it sure did not seem that Ralph got the memo about Buddy being the new decision maker

yeah- they were set enough to actually tell Grimm he had the job, after already meeting the Rooney Rule. then they mysteriously changed their mind. hard to believe Goodell did not give the Rooney's a call and tell them to walk the walk, since they proposed the rule in the first place. -
Hmm.. Who suggested Maybin? Let's promote them!
spartacus replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yeah - that's the ticket Dick picked all of the bad guys and busts and when he wasn't looking, Buddy Nix sent in the card for the goods guys sounds like a plan -
LMAO cheap, scared Ralph at it again.
spartacus replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
well- there's always our last GM - Marv so we definitely have a pattern going (not a very successful one, but a pattern none the less) -
Schopp just admits that it's personal with the Bills
spartacus replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
you confuse the issue speaking to Murph at the press conf is not exactly giving him the chance for a scoop who reported Nix as GM BEFORE the press conf? it sure wasn;t the local guys -

what about the local newspaper journalists that follow the team they get to read about the breaking news on ESPN as well. -

spartacus replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It would be nice if the Bills had the decency to talk to ANY of the local journalists that cover the team exclusively. why is it that all stories are given to the national outlets? basically the Bills thumb their noses at the local media as well as the fans that buy their product -
so this is what constitutes a major revamp
