  1. and yet we are relying on a 70 year old guy to rebuild the talent on this club, including hiring the HC. The beauty of hiring Marty is that you get his son as well - who becomes the natural transition to the next generation - which protects the team from a meltdown from Marty. Brian also has great ability at grooming young QBs, another skillset severely lacking at OBD for over 15 years. In any event, what Marty brings is more than just day to day coaching. He will define the attitude and personality into a tough hard nosed team - a far cry from the soft club Marv/Dick approach prevalent in the past.
  2. This is the huge risk with any super high cost HC. The Bills really need to fix the front office and upgrade the talent level before dancing with the devil.
  3. the team was great here because of all of that hall of fame talent not so much from Marv's great coaching
  4. Marty has proven he knows how to build a winner out of crap, and he can do it quickly The concern with his age is mitigated by bringing Brian as the succession plan. As a bonus, you get someone very adept at developing young QBs. (Sanchez, Brees, Rivers) Now they just need a talent evaluator who can find that good young QB. Marty should be a no brainer
  5. yeah Brett Favre taught Rogers a whole lot from his his private dressing room more likely is that all of those teams with young QBs actually had the smarts to utilize a good QB coach and a good OC who were on the same page and knew how to develop a QB. probably did not use the QB coach position as an internship
  6. people forget he sucked even worse as HC of the Rams just stay away from these failed retreads
  7. This is true Littman is not in the Bills organization. he is basically the chief financial officer for ALL of Ralph's holdings. and has done a damn fine job of protecting Ralph's money. It seems that none of the Bills top front office people have ever bothered to develop a good relationship with him to convince him that hiring better coaches and executives would generate a bigger return than spending the same amount on players/.
  8. if you want to "teach" a young QB, you hire a good QB coach. better yet if that QB coach was a former player, an even better if the OC has the same traits (Brian S.) player are delusional if they think a vet QB trying to prolong his career has any interest at all in working with the guy trying to end his career.
  9. "Clausen is the real deal." so was Brady Quinn.
  10. i guess that's the difference between a scout on the road and a GM who is the face of the organization.
  11. Agree this is the best alternative for the Bills Everywhere Marty has gone he has salvaged the program and turned it around quickly. I would think if he can partner with his son and Buddy, this would be appealing to him. Too bad the Jets won yesterday to prolong their season.
  12. your analysis is right on Unfortunately the bills have butchered step one in the process of hiring the best football man for GM Step 2 does not seem to be going much better
  13. Kirk Ferentz or Jim Harbaugh fit the bill
  14. This is true since Frazier probably already turned them down already.
  15. taking their time makes sense if the Bills actually interview some qualified candidates if they follow their typical modus operandi, as with the GM search, the interview process will be very limited and short-sighted.
  16. another of Marv's high character guys
  17. sounds to me like he is a plant from the Russ Brandon propaganda machine
  18. Every year Bills draft picks miss time. Maybin was inexcusable, as was Bird there is no excuse not to have all players in camp on time. The bills front office is just letting the other teams do the work to set the wages for the other draft slots.
  19. you are most definitely incorrect Hardy is very tall (although not as tall as the Bills thought when they drafted him since he lied about his height) everyone knows tall WRs are always good and since Hardy is very tall he is very good all of those other things like knowing the playbook catching the ball, running patterns, getting off the LOS and getting separation are way overrated.
  20. There are no QBs in this draft that deserve a 1st round grade and meet the expectation of starting quickly.
  21. Tebow has just as much a chance at success at QB that the other pretenders being touted as 1st rounders. Bradford and McCoy got hurt falling down, not exactly the durability you need to survive in the NFL. Not to mention they both played in the no-defense Big 12 - look at the NFL career of Graham Harrell as a guide. Clausen is Brady Quinn
  22. Kirk Ferentz is better Jim Harbaugh probably is too
  23. "Players become available and we will find you a quaterback" just look at how successful we have been at finding QBs since Kelly left 15 years ago yeah- that will sell him
  24. that is not true I heard a press conference where Russ said Buddy was the man in charge how can this possibly be not true?
