  1. Trying to hide behind incohent mumbo-jumbo does not change the fact that that trying to use the same 3 small guys on the D-Line to stop the run in 2010 will work even worse than using 4 of those small guys to stop the the run in last year's 4-3 cover-2. The reason the 3-4 is flexible is that you can move the LBs around to create confusion. The Bills have no LBs that are big enough to take on OL from a 3-4. The talk of converting former DL to LBs is so much nonsense since those players have never played in space to cover receivers and backpedal. The biggest impact of teh stated change to a 3-4 will be the gutting of the big money contracts of Schobel, Kelsay, Denney, Stroud and Whitner who won't fit the new scheme- no matter what they really end up playing
  2. sounds like a lock for the Bills if only they wanted him to learn a new position -
  3. exactly changing to a 3-4 which will require a complete overhaul of the undersized front 7 sure supports this concept
  4. That's the beauty of the INner Circle Jerk - nobody at OBD is responsible for the decisions being made. It wasn't Nix (the top national scout) - he trashed it after the season It wasn't Modrack (the head of college scouting)- he trashed maybin too, AFTER the season Maybin must have picked himself. same with McCargo, Whitner, Hardy, McElvin, etc
  5. Nix did such a good job last year with his talent evalution of Maybin.
  6. probably got it from the POZ - who also packed on a good deal of size in a short time period. too bad his bones got brittle from it
  7. you are correct The Bills talent evaluators, who are still at OBD, have been so successful drafting RBs in the 3rd /4th rounds.
  8. he throws better than Sam Bradford
  9. If there is a lockout and no CBA, there is no structure on which to base the draft. The draft is allowed now since it is collectively bargained restraint of trade. Good chance the NFL would lose on this issue.
  10. This is not true. Nix planned on bringing in Marty. they got clearance from Ryan to let Brain go to be the OC Marty even got the gig coaching at the Shrine game to scout players not something a guy permanently retired does in his spare time the only problem was Ralph did not want a guy trying to build a winner screwing up his money grab during an uncapped year
  11. better than what we have even though he is 35
  12. Coulda had Marty, and Marty would have hired his son Brian away from the Jets to run the offense. This is true only if the on-field product is the top priority. Gailey and his staff of teachers is much more capable of coaching the junior high talent soon to be populating OBD as Ralph guts the team of its high priced contracts. The process started last year with the gutting of the OL. This year it's the defense's turn. The move to the 3-4 will be the cover story as to why Schobel, Denney, Kelsay, Stroud and Whitner will be on the chopping block. With no salary cap minimum ins 2010, look for the player budget to be under $75 mil. which means Gailey will earn his keep "teaching" a boatload of young, cheap replacements - as a lockout in 2011 will preclude any significant long term free agent signings not likely Marty would have fit in that environment.
  13. they already have Bell - he needs a whole lot of developing before he should be allowed back on the field
  14. none of those guys is named Bradford - that china doll from Ice's Oklahoma
  15. Chan is the proper coach for what the Bills want to do - which is cut large chunks of salary and add cheap young replacements. If the Bills actually were concerned about builidng a contender, then Marty and Brian would have been the proper package to rebuild the organization. However, the on-field product is not the top priority at OBD. Chan and his group of teachers will have their hands full making a team full of scrubs competitive on a weekly basis. Marty should be trhgr
  16. so what's the point of cutting these guys now? Their salaries don't vest until the 1st regular season game. why cut them now when their replacements are nowhere to be seen? Typical Bills front office creating holes for no good reason.
  17. "You have no information that RW will try to save money by cutting high cost players in preparation for a lockout, so just can it." no evidence except the FACT that the Bills gutted their OL last year of the big contracts, saving in excess of $15 mil in 2009 with the last move a week before the season. This year the defense will be gutted, with the excuse of changing to a 3-4 being used as cover. not sure what point you are trying to make about TV revenues. whatever the Bills don't spend of that TV revenue goes in Ralph's pocket.
  18. and Hardy is really really tall
  19. unfortunately, your agrument falls apart when it gets to the increasing salary cap. there is no cap in 2010 and no minimum either. Expect Ralph to pocket the extra $5 mil in revenue and an additional $50 million as he cuts payroll from the cap mandated amount of about $125 million in 2009 to something less than $75 million in 2010. Ralph will be stockpiling a war chest for the lockout to come in 2011. No sense in committing big bucks to players who won't be generating revenue for him in 2011. Gailey will be "teaching" a team full of young, cheap (and not very good) draft picks and scrubs in 2010.
  20. You are correct that trading Whitner creates a hole in the on-field product. However, what you fail to consider that as the #8 pick, Whitner is being paid a lot which makes a prime candidate for the The Big Salary Dump of 2010. Expect most of the big salary players to be purged before the 2010 season starts as Ralph looks to slash payroll costs and contracts to create a slush fund in preparation for the 2011 lockout.
  21. you are correct Bell was amazing how he was able to get his penalties under 5 per game before they terminated his embarassment at LT can't wait for his encore performance
  22. Riley Cooper is going to play pro baseball for way more money and way less physical abuse
  23. "So there may be NT options in free agency if the Bills are willing to pay." and there's the rub. in a year with no minimum and a lockout expected in 2011, pigs will fly before Ralph spends big money on long term free agent contracts in 2010. Gailey will need to make do with draft picks and scrubs.
  24. Most posters here are not the brightest bulbs in the shed. they can't connect the dots that when you spend $1 billion to build a new domed stadium for 8 home games (2 in Toronto), ticket prices and everything will go up exponentially - not to mention the personal seat license fees just for the privilege to buy those inflated tickets and the kicker is that the on-field product will not be any better than it is today.
  25. teach them that a thug is still a thug even he plays for the Bills Running women down in the middle of the night does not become OK because a Bills player did it.
