There are 5 positions on the offensive line
spartacus replied to Rob's House's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
stop with the blind-side horse-hockey Watkins played RT because he was not good enough to play LT - which is where most of the elite pass rushers come from and you need to agile and strong to handle them -
wasting premium picks on RBs, CBs and WRs is why this team has missed the playoffs for a decade. Fred is a playmaker and Lynch is a capable backup with no trade value. pick a RB in the 3rd or 4th round or pick up a free agent castoff who cost his old team too much money. Better to spend the premium picks on the front 7 and OL

Brandon Graham will be selected 9th

you are correct the offense should have been the focus too bad, Chan is an offensive coach who overstates his ability to over-coach the severe lack of talent on that side of the ball. in the same breathe, due to arrogance or stupidity, he also severely overstates the ease of switching to a 3-4 which will realistically need to replace the bulk of the front 7. typical bills move, though, to voluntarily create gaping holes where there were only weakness before, thus preventing them from improving and filling pre-exsiting holes in other areas. (RT,LT) They have done this before (cutting Milloy, trading Willis- thus forcing 1st rd picks spent on replacements), but never to the extent of needing to replace most of the defense at one time (while having no NFL caliber OTs on the roster) -
exactly the Bills have used the "draft" to acquire such studs as Whinter, Maybin, Williams, McElvin, Lynch, etc all impact playmakers don't hold your breathe that 2 part-time work-from-home retirees and 6 scouts are going to solve all of the Bills problems thru the draft

what's your beef? the Bills already signed their answer at LT in Cornell Green after another off-season, Bell is almost certain to be Pro Bowl caliber Trent had an epiphany and will also be studly in 2010 and since none of the DL and LBs are capable of playing a 3-4, the entire front 7 needs to overhauled. the plan is to go 3-13 and have first shot at teh QBs in 2011 too bad the draft will be cancelled by court order due to lack of a CBA -
The Bills are not unlucky, they are just stupid. They wouldn't have a gaping hole at LT if they had not passed on drafting the Pro Bowl caliber LT Ryan Clady in favor of the oft iinjured, never effective CB McElvin.

Mock Draft built for success
spartacus replied to FavreDolla_Footlong's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
so how many premium draft picks did Houston give up for Green when they signed him as a free agent? Since they cut him, they didn't pay him $25 mil either Houston won't be trading into the top 10 to take Spiller -

then you must be blind Kubiak has spent his entire coaching career turning mid round picks into pro bowl RBs and now he is going to give away picks to move UP for a RB I don't think so -

Spiller is a game changer sort of like Frank Gore -
what kind of training environment? bringing in a trainer from the steroid & HGH infected heavy lifting world should give you a hint the Bills likely will be joining the rest of the NFL with their new performance enhanced drug program. no longer will the players have to find their own drugs and screw up the dosages like Poz did resulting in brittle and broken bones. go Bills!

wonder if he carries a gun- like the guy we got

Bills offense to be much different in 2010
spartacus replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yeah-= it sure makes a lot of sense in a year when they need to retool the OL; that they will also convert to a defense where they have to replace the entire front 7 good thing he is tailoring the system to fit the personnel -
Bradford's workout leaves crowd in awe.
spartacus replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bradford is awesome - as long as there is no pass rush and the other team is inept on defense and how he does not trip - because he dislocate his shoulder or break a collarbone or something definitely a can't miss -
http://www.morepointsthanyou.com/ interesting mock from the perspective of how the GMs historically act

build from the trenches, except when chasing your tail going after over-hyped, marginal QB prospects since they were falsely labeled "franchise QBs" none of the QBs in this class are 1st round talents, let alone franchise QBs
-
Rebuild or not? Answer this QB question
spartacus replied to SawchukBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
absolutely true too bad there are no "franchise" QBs in this draft a lot of project QBs which is what the Bills have been chasing for 15 years trade for McNabb - the Bills lease will be up and they will be out of town before any of this year's "franchise" QBs are ready to break Bills fans hearts -
or trading for one who has proven to be a real live NFL QB that can play from game 1 in 2010
-
I must have missed last year's draft, but I don't see any NFL OTs on the Bills roster, from last year's draft or any other source./
-
you are correct. his strength was a major reasaon the team set records for yardage allowed on the ground - and that was with 4 guys playing on the DL. now we want to use 3 small guys on the DL and our midget LBs OK - I can see how that makes us a top 10 defense

Fat Mike was never a LT, never played LT and was never going to be agile or quick enough to play LT in the NFL. It is a highlight of how bad the talent evaluators are at OBD that they truly believed the crap that since Williams played RT for a left handed QB he would be able to easily switch to LT to protect the blind side of a right handed QB The pick was stupid and arrogant from day 1 since they passed on a real LT in McKinnie to draft ANOTHER project with the 4th pick in the draft.
-
you are correct, the situation is much closer to the premium picks spent on Maybin, Losman, Whitner, McCargo, POZ, McGahee, etc who have never produced at the level expected and flamed out early. not sure how wasting a pick on McNabb is going to doom this organizstion any worse than all of the butchered picks from previous years.
-
the real mistake was not fixing the OL. after spending a 1st round pick and big bucks on Bledsoe, it was incredibly stupid and arrogant to not protect him by using a swiss cheese OL populated by such outstanding studs as Bennie Anderson and Tuten Reyes even when they spent a #1 on the OL, they stupidly (and arrogantlyt) picked a fat unmotivated slob that could only play RIGHT T, when a bonafide stud LT was also available. stupid, but not surprising, since the Bills have been playing the same game with the OL since Polian and Butler left.
-
gotta love this horse-hockey arguement of blaming the offense for being too good for the defense being inept at stopping people the bend but don't break defense was highlighted in the first Super Bowl as the Giant ran off a double digit drive in both plays and minutes to gore the Bills. maybe if the defense made a play or two, the offense could have had another drive to win the game
-
they use the Census for all sorts of neat things for example, the nationality question was really helpful in 1942 when they used that info to round up thousands of Japanese and inter them in concentration camps

Are we sure Bell can't be a good OLT?
spartacus replied to BobChalmers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
how is this different from last year's "solution" move a fat slow guy from RT to play LT with only enough reps there to prove that he couldn't handle it and then go with the already injured 7th round draft pick who does not belong on the roster when that failed, plug in the guy who was so bad the Bills even cut him. can't see it being so far fetched - they paid way too much for only a RT
