  1. don't worry defense can't stop the run or the pass for that matter
  2. Chan saw enough as well - but he also had the advantage of seeing what he was stuck with at QB in Buffalo. Ralph sure got pissed when Denver out- foxed OBD.
  3. yes- the mysterious "someone else" who has made all of the bad draft picks and free agent acquisitions since Donahoe left. He may have been an arrogant egomaniac, but at least he took responsibility for the decisions he made, many of which were the last impact players the Bills have acquired since decade. Overdorf is the hatchet man who decides if the team is willing to pay the bucks to keep a player. Langston Walker is no longer a Bill due solely to Overdorf.
  4. This is truly enlightening. I count 7 scouts listed instead of the 6 that were referenced in an earlier article Fact remains that the front office has failed miserably over the last decade in finding talent, especially playmakers. Most of this blame should sit with Modrak, who works part-time from Florida, directing the college scouting effort. However, he gets a free pass, as do all of the decision makers over the last decade at OBD.
  5. The Bills only employ 6 scouts to cover the entire country and then let their boss work part-time from home in Florida on a semi-retired basis and then let his boss work part-time from his home in Tennessee on a semi-retired basis. anyone seeing a pattern as to what the problem may be in finding and evaluating talent
  6. It is going to take more than a few years to turn it around if the team continues to fail to fill the 3 most important positions on the team: QB, LT and pass rush It is apparent to anyone but the blind homer that Ralph has no interest in "turning it around", since the fans continue to support the product- no matter how crappy it is.
  7. single wing- Marv ran it at KC too bad Fred broke his hand
  8. amazing how the fans continue to blame Dick for the crappy drafts, when the guy in charge of college scouting has failed miserably across multiple staffs - yet he remains employed, working part-time from Florida
  9. the new defense sure looked good giving up 5+ yards a carry and that was when they weren't giving up huge chunks in the passing game thought they might bring those CBs closer than 10 yards to the line of scrimmage with this new aggressive D
  10. too bad we have no other RB in camp that attended practice camp the last 2 weeks for which they could have run the same plays. Chan sure sounds like an offensive genius and his perforamcne so far has sure backed it up on the field
  11. Nelson is the most productive WR on the roster look for him to be gone in the first round of cuts so they can further evaluate Hardy
  12. heaven forbid they actually practice the process and procedure for challenging a call that is important to execute during the real games
  13. over the last 10 years, there have been at least 4 different coaching staffs, but the one constant has been our part time head of college scouting. I find it real hard to believe that Modrak has been identifying the right players and 4 different staffs have all overruled him on every pick. Occam's Razor would find otherwise Also convenient that since Modrak is the only survivor, he gets to put out the after-the-fact spin most favorable to his position regarding who he really wanted
  14. Truly, a testament to why having your head of college scouting work from Florida on a part-time basis is not a real good idea.
  15. looks like Chan is thinking of red-shirting Easley to save his eligibility why else even consider putting the kid out for the season before even 1 pre-season game is played. sounds like what they did the prior 3 years with guys that would be out a few weeks
  16. a 3-4 with a small undersized and overwhelmed NT and that was with 2 superb pass rushers on the outside this defense has no pass rushers
  17. let's see if he can play like a stud against someone other than Hangartner and our porous OL
  18. thanks for the insight did not realize that the Colts were back in the same division as the Bills
  19. good thing we improved the OL and tackle play so Trent will have time in the pocket to make decisions on where to go with the ball - because he proved conclusively that he takes a damn long time to make any decision other than a dump off
  20. "That money could be better spent elsewhere." like at LT - but more likely it ends up in Ralph's pocket as they have repeatedly indicated they are done with roster additions this year.
  21. who is going to use the stadium - after the new owner moves the team out of town to a location with corporate base that can afford luxury boxes?
  22. "times have changed. . ." you can say that again. The biggest change is that the Bills have been picking near the top 10 for the last decade with nothing to show for it. Back in the day of Bill Polian, they consistently picked at the end of the first round where the talent was less than with a top 10 pick. The 2nd point to note, is that the Polian teams actually had Super Bowl quality talent already starting, which forced any rookie to fight for playing time. The current Bills teams have no such glut of talent. In fact, the LB corp was so decimated last year, that they started free agents signed off the street instead of our Penn State stud. There are so many holes on the Bills roster that any drafted player is needed to start by necessity - and still they can't get off the bench. What makes the draft "easier to predict" is employing competent talent evaluators whose job it is to know which players are likely to bust and which are likely to be successful. Then pick the winners and pass on the losers. Unfortunately, the best our part-time work-from-home director of college scouting can do is to make up stories after the fact, that he did not want the busts, but someone else overrode his recommendation. Convenient that these revelations only come to light after the season and after a key mgmt player has been released as the scapegoat.
  23. a first round interior OL needs to be dominant from day 1. getting a OG that is just OK is a waste of another premium pick.
  24. Nix has nothing to do with contracts Overdorf has full control over the finances and will drag this signing out just like every year
