  1. so Buddy is hitching his wagon for the most important LT position to a player that has not been healthy his entire pro career. sounds like a really good plan- good thing we have some good backups if Bell can't stay out the training room
  2. so are you saying it was not brilliant to hire a highly paid exclusive 4-3 defensive guy when trying to convert to a 3-4 scheme? However, it is consistent with the arrogance of the Bills in drafting players and immediately having them play different positions than they played in college It has worked out so well for them on the player side.
  3. yeah - good thing our newly signed crackerjack defensive expert is getting such first hand input. the same kind of input that Chan couldn't live without so he treated the entire 2010 season as a first hand observation period - since he couldn't rely on film and tape for a proper evaluation.
  4. please post the cite where the owners have said on the record they will lock the players out. My guess this is just a delusion in your mind to back up your conclusions - since the owners are under a gag order and Goodell basically says nothing when he talks about the CBA.
  5. hey it's not Buddy and Modrak's fault that Maybin and Spiller have returned just about zero on the investment of top 12 picks - some else made the picks over their objections - maybe it was Ralph's niece pulling the strings (yes - Buddy was on board for the Maybin pick) when you have pat-time retirees working from distant homes running your talent evaluation and acquisition process, you should not be surprised by the underwhelming results.
  6. maybe it's symantecs, but if there is a work stoppage, it will be caused by a strike by the players. The owners will not lockout the players They have nothing to gain by pro-actively locking the players out, especially in March. The NFLPA is already not negotiating so it will make it easy to get to an impasse. The league will then impose the rules it wants and plan to conduct a season. The union's plan is to de-certify and sue for anti-trust violations. But this leaves the players on their own to conduct a strike - which is not likely to last very long or be very organized. Once the players lose a few game checks, reality will set in and picket lines will be crossed across the league.
  7. The biggest issue to be resolved is not even one between the union and the players It is the revenue sharing between large market, high revenue producing teams and the small market- low revenue parasitic tyoe teams (like the Bills and Bengals) which is the real issue which needs to resolved before the owners can settle with players. The big market owners take issue with owners like Ralph who cries the blues but puts the revenue sharing dollars in his pocket without any improvement to the product on the field.
  8. this mentality basically applies to all of the players which is why if the union does not cave, the league will bargain to an impasse and then impose the last proposed offer as the new rules (THERE WILL BE NO LOCKOUT) forcing the players to make the decision to strike and give up those paydays
  9. Bills have not done a stellar job of finding impact playmakers with their top 10 picks either not missing out on much if they trade down.
  10. why is it a stupid trade ?? because the outdated trade chart says so? for the last 10 years, the Bills have butchered their own top 12 first rounders so bad they have gotten no value from the pick, They have been incapable of turning those premium picks into impact playmakers- so what's the downside of trading down. by trading down and getting additional picks, even though less than what the infamous trade chart says is good value, the Bills have a much better chance for success just by having more picks to blow. In addition, if the pick follows the Bills bust trend, the the budget won't be busted with top 5 salary and bonus money
  11. you need to rush the passer, whether from a D-lineman or LBs the Bills have neither - Rex Ryan does they have also wasted numerous top picks on cover corners with the intention of playing them in soft zones where their skills were not used. with the 3rd pick, they need a stud DT that can disrupt the inside, push the pocket make the rest of the crappy pass rushers on the team just a little bit better and maybe functional.
  12. hard to see any bona fide DC coming to Buffalo when their salary requirements for a quality DC would be more than Chan is getting paid the only hope is the remaining salary from thier prior employer is big enough to offset the low pay from the Bills
  13. what's with the Kelly hate? calling a player "dumb as a stump"who called his own plays and helped design the no-huddle is just a little, shall I say, DUMB maybe you should take your own advice and not listen to moronic posters commenting on Kelly's intelligence- because I'm sure you have no first hand data to back it up
  14. the flaw in your argument is that you consider the value chart as gospel. the chart was developed by Jimmy Johnson as a way to standardize value in order to facilitate trades on draft day. However, it was created before the top 5 picks became so expensive as to be an albatross to the team making the selection. Any team with the guts to stick to its decision and take the heat from the media would be wise to trade down and take significantly less than the chart value if the players available are not true playmakers in their system. For example, the Bills should have taken basically anything of value to move down from the 4th slot the year they took Mike Williams because the cost of the busted pick hurt far greater than the media backlash from getting less than some perceived fantasy value. Last year, the Bills should have taken what they could get and traded down to some other delusion team who thought Spiller was the next coming of Barry Sanders. The Bills would have improved themselves by getting a 2nd player, both of which would have produced more than Spiller did - for less money.
  15. however it happened, it certainly was not their fault they probably did everything right just as society demands- like eating exclusively at fast food places, engesting only drinks made with high fructose corn syrup (water is just too plain), watching TV around the clock and avoiding any semblance of physical activity they are just a victim of circumstances and need someone like Oprah to put them on TV to make them into a media sensation
  16. needs to go back on the juice for that to happen but - that may be why the Bills have ex-power lifters running their training dept.
  17. "They made nearly $10M, but that's BEFORE taxes." It's also before interest, depreciation and amortization, numbers which are far larger for teams that own their stadiums and carry large loans used to purchase the team itself. Items that teams like the Cowbous, Patriots and Redskins need to be concerned with. It also does not include the non P&L item of cash needed to repay the principal on the company debt. Those operating profits sure can disappear real quick.
  18. gotta agree Brohm got absolutely drilled on most every pass he attempted The OL is a complete joke - including everyone's favorite stud - Bell
  19. high draft picks only matter if the team selects an impact playmaker - not another useless boob who can't play (Maybin, McCargo, Whitner, Lynch, Losman, Williams, etc) The Bills history of blown high round picks is incredibly atrocious and the guy in charge of college scouting responsible for the last decade of drafting futility is still in charge good thing our plan is to build thru the draft I hope the Bills renewed their Mel Kiper subscription this year so Modrak has something to read while sunning on the beach in Flordia.
  20. ah .. the great enabler speaks blind homers should buy their tickets and merchandise, shut up and be happy Buffalo has a team in the NFL
  21. that's what happens when your LB is close enough to the receiver to make the tackle
  22. just like the year they took Mike Williams won a meaningless game and missed out on Julius Petters
  23. Pretty convenient that Modrak himself planted the story he wanted Cushing- but only after the season was over and Dick was gone. Modrak never went on record at draft time that he opposed the Maybin pick only after the season and after the scapegoat was fired. Modrak is responsible for 10 years of futile talent evaluation - and yet the lemmings still defend him.
  24. this is the kind of crap that allows Modrak to keep his job no accountability or responsibility yeah- why would the director of college scouting have any say in who they pick on draft day good thing he puts out all those retroactive player reviews after the season so we know who he really wanted to pick such horse hockey
  25. Carolina is on a mission to get the first pick. Atlanta could forfeit, and Carolina still would manage to lose the game
