  1. check this out http://weblogs.sun-s...gh_breakdo.html ironic that when he came out of high school, he was a pocket passer with the rap that he could not run Chan wants a mobile QB to run the spread and was really stung last year when they screwed up getting Tebow I think Chan wants Cam especially since he can throw the ball without requiring a perfect pocket - - which will never happen in Buffalo since they are totally incapable of buildng a good OL
  2. Again going the cheap way out with natural grass technology much more advanced, they should install a heated grass field similar to what Green Bay uses. it would be a big incentive to free agents over the plastic / asphalt crap they are using
  3. gotta see who the next Mike Mamula is before deciding? good NFL talent evaluators base the evalautions of the players at the top of the draft on their play on the field - which tends to result in the selection of "football" players letting the combine dictate slotting results in workout warriors being selected like Mamula, Maybin, etc
  4. There are 2 other big factors influencing Carlina 1. Jimmy Clausen blows. 2. The old coaching regime is gone - making it much easier to tie #1 to that regime- even if the coaches did not make the pick They took a flier on the guy - and he crapped the bed. good organization recognize it, admit the mistake and move on
  5. You make my point 1. I clearly state that no team is losing money. 2. I then state the NFLPA will cherry pick info and spin it to the fans - like the obvious - all the teams are not losing money 3. then you jump in, just as most NFLPA supporters would do, and over-react to the losing money comment why would the owners ever open their books?
  6. this is true Newton will very likely go #1 If you are going to spend mega-millions - it is more cost effective to do it at the QB spot on the chance the guy is franchise changer Don't short change the Bills though. After getting cute and coming up short in the pursuit of Tebow last year, they may be desparate enough to move up to secure Newton. They will be paying insane money anyway at #3. Newton, who does not need to step into his throws as much as other QBs, makes a ton more sense to a team like the Bills who absolutely refuse to build a quality OL that will generate a pocket on a consistent basis.
  7. "security theater" it definitely is do enough non-sense for the masses to feel they are being protected after being frisked and scanned for anything remotely resembling a dangerous weapon they promptly hand out steel silverware (knives and forks) for those non-terroists types fortunate enough to fly business class. good thing terroists only fly coach
  8. Scouts don't pick players - yet the Bills fanbbase has already coronated Buddy for singlehandedly building the Chargers with his expert drafts
  9. all of your posturing hinges on your first point, which is grossly untrue. The owners are not claiming they are "losing" money. They are claiming the current structure is unsustainable and will severly impact fuiure growth. If the the owners showed their books, the NFLPA would cherry pick the most inflamatory info (all of the teams are not losing money) and then declare disbelief for the rest. There is no good that can come to the owners for opening their books. It boils down to whether the players want to play in the new NFL work environment. They don't need to know the owner' finances, they only need to know what their alternative employment options are.
  10. http://weblogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports/columnists/hyde/blog/2011/02/draft_winds_a_thorough_breakdo.html this analysis on Cam Newton by Universal Draft should be pinned since it provides lot of factual background info that can be used to assess the reality of many issues being raised about his chances for success in the NFL 2 of the biggest regard him being a run first QB and his work ethic and leadership

  12. Nix was as responsible as anyone else at OBD for Maybin. He was brought in as the national scout before the 2009 draft because he had a valuable opinion. With as much as juice as he was bringing from San Diego, there is no way the Bills pick Maybin without Buddy's blessing
  13. Cam has already done too much He will go #1 overall to Carolina - or some other team willing to make a blockbuster deal
  14. Here is the major flaw in how the Bills are trying to fix the problem. 1. I agree that bad coaching is as much of the problem as terrible player acquisition. A good part of the bad player acquisition is that the coaches have no clue what kind of player is needed to play LB in the NFL. 2. As you state the LB coaching was totally inept last year as evidenced by firing the LB coach. IF the LB was so inept last year, what does that say about Edwards? He was the DC and his background is as a LB coach. Looks like they did not go far enough in firing inept coaches. Even the defense was abysmal, he is still the DC. 3.Their answer is to bring in Wannstache to fix the LBs. He may have made his mark as a defensive guru, however his entire background is a 4-3. I guess our LBs will know how to play a 4-3. 4. Since they are adamant about playing a 3-4, why is so hard to comprehend that they should go out and find the best 3-4 coach available to install and run the 3-4. The effectiveness of the 3-4 comes in the blitz schemes, the gameplanning and play calling to maximize the confusion the 3-4 can create. All of the above comes from experience in coaching the 3-4. When Green Bay changed to a 3-4 , they hired Dom Capers and his experience. When the Bills made the change, they hired an inept LB coach with zero experience and follow that up with an exclusive 4-3 guy. maybe he comes cheap that would fit Ralph's MO
  15. Modrak the Magnificient has not seen him play either, but he saw his name on a TV draft show so he must be good
  16. POZ wouldn't know a good scheme if it hit him in his fat head. The Bills did nothing that a sophisticated 3-4 typically does to confuse the offense. maybe if they hired a DC that knew what to do with a 3-4, the players could execute.
  17. worked pretty good for Vick what does not work in the NFL is being indecisive in the pocket and not doing anything QBs that can't decide what to do are the ones that fail miserably. If an OC has a brain and designs plays to take advantage of matchups out of spread offense, then a QB is not rquired to make multiple reads all over the field.
  18. What link? - the Bills never discuss the draft (except for when the Magnificent Modrak tells us after the season who he wanted on draft day) The Bills try to trade back in to the 1st round. Denver does manage to trade up and select Tebow. Ralph breaks with a 50 year history of not commenting on the draft and almost has a coronary as he blasts the Denver move. all Bills fans believe the resulting denial from OBD of any interest in Tebow
  19. More brilliance from Buddy of course they're sticking with the 3-4 why else would they bring in a high paid defensive guy who has never coached a 3-4, let alone gone thru the more difficult task of converting a team from a 4-3 to a 3-4. Green Bay wanted to switch to a 3-4 and went out and got one of the best 3-4 coaches in Dom Capers to install the 3-4 and then game plan and run the multiple looks and blitzes which make the 3-4 such a good defense. Instead the Bills brought in an inexperienced LB coach who proved conclusively that 3 down linemen playing straight up will get the ball jammed down their throat. The 3-4 is pretty useless if the bells and whistles are not employed. which is why hiring a 4-3 coach with no experience in the intricacies of the 3-4 is typical from the clown show at One Bills Drive. But he does know Chan - at least he's not 70 years old.
  20. in addition to any comments made this year, you need to include the Bills aborted attempt last year to move up and get Tebow to run the spread. Chan has run it before and Buddy's comments about the future of QBing reinforce that belief. Cam is bigger, stronger and a better athlete than Tebow. the only uncertainty is how long will it take to get the card to the podium
  21. odds are that the best deal the union will get is if they agree before Mar 3. There will be pressure from players due roster bonus money to get something done. if there is a lockout, the owners are essentially going all-in and have the resources to hold out long enough to dictate the new terms. it will not be pretty for the players in any event, no deal will get done unless there is a perceived deadline on both sides. if it slides past March 3, any date in July is meaningless. the next date of importance will be the season opener when players will start to lose paychecks. Pressure will mount the longer the players go without money. It will really get ugly if the union de-certifies and the players litigate over anti-trust issues. The last time the case took 3 years to resolve while the league played under its rules imposed after impasse. not sure how the players can rely on an anti-trust victory 3 years in the future to save the day with no paychecks coming in.
  22. You left out his first classic move Brought in before the 2009 draft for his expertise, he and the Magnificent Modrak were both somehow overruled on the Maybin pick. (yeah right) Looks to me like Buddy is suffering the same memory lapses and judgment problems that any 70 year retired person experiences on a daily basis. '
  23. just what we need another cocky over-confident clown who has never coached the 3-4 defense he is so confident of fixing
  24. Tgregg has a one track mind regarding the evil owners He continually misstates the facts to push his position
  25. the meat can be frozen and packed in dry ice allowing it to be shipped quite far in 3 or 4 days by truck if you are in Texas, you should buy from the Texas ranches that sell grass fed beef.
