good thing the rocket scientists who thought he could play in the NFL are gone. Oh wait- Modrak is still head of scouting and Nix is now GM both pushing to take the next undersized, over-hyped LB project can't wait for Thursday

Modrak - beyond "gag me with a spoon"
spartacus replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
inquiring minds want to know who is your inside source that lays the blame for Maybin at the feet of DICK? and how is it that both Modrak and Nix, the top talent evaluators, were both totally overruled on this selection? a little too convenient to scapegoat the guy no longer here - with the survivors spinning the story in their favor -
People Tend To Forget Last Year's Picks

Buddy was there for the pick he blessed it, they picked him too convenient to scapegoat Jauron for all of the failed picks and give a free pass to the talent evaluators -

yeah- his track record of Maybin and Spiller give him a life time free pass. -
Mike Mayock NOT convinced Carolina takes Cam
spartacus replied to Deep2Moulds46's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
sounds like Newton got himself into one of the few major football programs in the country where they actually expect the players to show up for class and take tests. at other schools, grades don't matter and the "academic" side of things magically get taken care of. -
People Tend To Forget Last Year's Picks

if they are "purging the worthless" - why is the totally inept Edwards still the DC? they claim to be installing a 3-4 - but hire a guy with only a 4-3 background to go with their inept DC Does not look like much of a plan to me especially when you link that with their inability to identify NFL quality talent- things do not look so good -
Newton has the best reward / risk ratio of anyone in the draft. He will be the pick at #3 if Carolina has a brain freeze and passes The bills have busted top 10 picks for a decade -so Newton is no worse than any of the last 10 years of duds- especially as the next most preferred option is a guy that weighs no more than Maybin at the same position.

Putting Together a 3-4 Defense
spartacus replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
coaching is the single most important component needed to convert to a 3-4 and run is successfully. The Bills have no clue as evidenced by keeping the inept Edwards as DC, and then hiring Wannstadt as a backseat driver with zero experience in installing or running a 3-4. The strength of the 3-4 is the zone blitz out of multiple looks - which comes from experience. Edwards basically lined up his 3 DL to go against 5 OL and got butchered. -
yeah - Maybin and Spiller make you want to shout

Bills doctors clear Bowers knee

this report is bogus history shows that the Bills medical staff would have placed him on IR with that, or any other, injury -
Lets just say you are Buddy Nix
spartacus replied to DreamOnDan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fat chance Wanny is a 3-4 coach Everywhere he has ever coached he has used a 4-3. Typical of the Bills to keep the inept DC and bring in another coach with zero 3-4 experience to run the 3-4 Thbey should just go back to the 4-3 since their coaching and personnel fit it much better or stop jerking around and bring in a real 3-4 coaching staff -
Copy of Brady v. NFL complaint

so in a nutshell, 1. the CBA has expired and the NFLPA has de-certified. 2. the individual players want a judge to force the owners to open for business (preferably under the rules of the expired CBA) 3. various aspects of conducting said business restricts trade in violation of anti-trust laws (since the CBA allowing such practices has now expired). 4. the players are suing the NFL for violating anti-trust laws for those very practices they want the NFL to continue. Seems any un-biased court of equity (anyone but David Doty) would be hard pressed not to allow the NFL to shut things down until the pending anti-trust litigation resolves what business practices are allowed as reasonable and what are not allowed. Hardly seems equitable for the players to be able to force the owners to continue running a business which they are already litigating as in violation of anti-trust. -
NFL's Response To Players' Injunction Request
spartacus replied to ICanSleepWhenI'mDead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This part is intriguing Can't wait for the big name players to pool their resources to start a new league with all of the unsigned players to compete with the NFL. Peyton can lead the charge since he is unsigned. All players should have to ante up bucks for their ownership interest in the team they will play for so they will have skin in the game. The players can be true "partners' with the owners of the league and share the real risk of ownership. Any ownership will have to be as minority owners, since all of the teams in this new venture will need to be susidiaries of a single holding company to avoid anti-trust violations. This will also limit team individualism as all teams are subject to mandates by the league on all operating issues. Since the players are owners of each team, their compensation for each year can be tied directly to the financial performance of each team with no salary guaranteed. if the team sucks and loses money, each player only gets a nominal paycheck reflective of the team's financial performance - audited statements will be freely available. -
The key point to understand is that Gabbert put up crappy stats in an offense designed for big numbers, and in which Chase Daniels complied with huge numbers. Even with the gaudy stats, Daniels wasn't even drafted. Gabbert did less in his one season and now he's a top 3 pick I don't think so
-
Fortunately for the Bills, the slow white guys they historically have drafted are primarily for the defensive line.
-
pretty ironic that Gailey is complaining about how his players continue to underperform after a year of bad coaching - when he is the one responsible.
-
if the players want to back up all of the rhetoric about they ARE the game - then the players should finance their own league. Avoid all outside investors. Anyone that wants to play has to buy stock in the team they will play for. In addition to financing the venture, this would greatly cut down the mercenary mindset of the players. The big name highly paid guys get to own the most stock and take the most risk (which I don't believe there will be any since this is professional football afterall where the franchise values always go up)

PFT: Free Agency could start at midnight
spartacus replied to JoeF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought it was a slam dunk that the owners would lock out the players- because any other course would involve litigation the league could not win good thing you were on top of this possible outcome from day 1 -
gotta agree about your comment on Cam's work ethic just typical of the crap put out by the alleged "journalists" about sports nowadays no facts - just speculation of the author passed off as "journalism"
-
of course the fans would have been killilng Buddy for not fixing the OL but why is that the fans are the only ones that realize the OL needs to be fixed? here's a thought - why not keep Scott, since he was cheap and actually aggressively draft a RT that can reasonable be expected to start -

Bills Team Workouts if lockout?
spartacus replied to PaattMaann's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
which is why the players will not be staying out that long they want to play and need the money hard for the union to oppose what the players want to do since the NFLPA will no longer exist after it de-certifies -
Gailey says while OT is not a crying need......
spartacus replied to JStranger76's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The switch to the 3-4 has been a clusterfu** for 2 reasons, lack of talent and even bigger lack of coaching If Buddy and Chan were so set on switching, why hamstring the entire transition by hiring a DC with zero experience in running a 3-4 or in converting from a 4-3. Since last year's plan worked so well, they kept the DC and went out and got the high paid defenisve guy- but who has no experience with implementing or running the 3-4. The 3-4 is good when it is run with multiple looks, blitzes so the offense does not know where the front 7 is coming from. Lining up 3 down linemen without the rest of the package results in the worst run defense in the NFL -

obviously - but it won't sell tickets so Ralph's plan is to move up to #1 to guarantee they get Cam -
so the DE that Nix drafted last year is already a bust and being replaced by another 2nd or 3rd rounder? I don't think 2 DEs is a priority on anyone's wish list when they still don't have 1 NFL quality 3-4 nose tackle or any NFL caliber LBs. Cam will be the pick in the 1st round unless he goes #1 to Carolina- which is very likely. As far as trading down, the top picks are not as damaging this year when the rookie wage scale kicks in to limit the massive contracts and guaranteed payment. Maybe Buddy surprises and moves up to #1 for Cam.
