Feel much better about the draft
spartacus replied to ColdBlueNorth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
neither Bell or Hairston is the answer at LT. Bell is always hurt If that's their plan and the best they can do, they would be better off moving Levitre and drafting a solid OG in the mid-rounds -
"TE Chandler should get better and since Gailey's offense isn't really geared to this position there is no need for an upgrade, here." This one sentence speaks volumes about Chan's philosophy when the rest of the league is exploiting the mismatches caused by athletic TEs (NE went out and got 2), Chan continues to ignore the TE. this is especially troublesome when your QB has trouble getting the ball downfield on the outside of the field- teams smothered the Bills offense last year after game 4 when it became evident they could bring their defense within 5 yards of the ball with no fear of getting beat anywhere.

Nice quote from Wannstedt on the defense
spartacus replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
so why does Chan get a free pass for hiring a buffoon to run the defense and then another free pass when he kept him for a 2nd year? -
the Bills did not run many complicated zone blitz packages - that stuff was way beyond our coaching capability they basically lined up 3 DL on 5 OL and watched them get destroyed because they had no LB help. when switching to a 3-4 it always helps to have a coach that has done it before and actually is skilled at running teh intriciies of the zone blitz with out itu - you should get killed up front.

I would agree team chemistry on a 6 win team is got to be the #1 priority don't rock the boat

the teams that signed those one game wonders did not have a coach on staff who personally worked with the QB for 4 years so as able to make a valid assessment of his future success. I know it takes Chan and the boys a year or two of personal scouting to be able to tell if a player sucks or not - but 4 years should be a good enough window stop being hater just because its not the Bills pursuing him

All Peyton Manning, all the time!

Wayne signing in Indy makes me thing Manning is done Wayne had a free ride on Manning's coattails whereever he went - looks to me like he knows something about Manning's I expect Denver to sign Manning as cover to ditch Tebow and avoid a public lynching - even though Manning may never play -
I disagree I fully believe they tanked the fist year with the plan to get Cam Newton. However, they screwed that up by only getting the 3rd pick. After an 0-8 start, they should have locked up #1 to ensure their choice, but figured they had some slack

Butler was a good evaluator of talent and know what was needed talent wise to build a successful team his skills at the "other" stuff was lacking which is what opened the door for Ralph to bring in OVerdorf Butler relied on Littman for all of the salary cap stuff when he was GM, focusing on the talent side

talk is cheap close the deal Bills never release contract numbers so the contract actually offered and the guaranteed money are anything that is leaked to the media. close the deal what is cap room to the Bills who have a long history of hoarding and not using it anyway close the deal maybe Mario's first question was - "why is that turdball Edwards still on your coaching staff -does not look like you want to win to me" hard to dance a jig when you shoot yourself in the foot
-
that's right - Buddy is a genius! who else would have went a whole season without a LB corp? entered a season without a n NFL caliber OT or backup QB? and he was able to accumulate all of this cap money while still fielding a contender and making a deep playoff run! genius, pure genius and now in one day he has the fan base in a tizzy while only spending the cost of a dinner no one does it better than Buddy! too bad none of that focus has been on winning

this may come as a shock to many - but being a good QB does not make one a good football executive As evidenced by the way Manning is using Elway to drive up his price for Arizona and Miami -

why would he want to if he can avoid it -
is Justin Blackmon worth moving up to get?
spartacus replied to EldaBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maximizing the value of draft pick through trading up and down take some thought and effort - time which Buddy historically has not invested in building a team making moves opens him up to second guessing which can be deflected by staying with your original pick and taking what falls in your lap- even if is Aaron Maybin as he himself has stated, he would rather be napping than chasing free agent talent -
Why do the last 12 years get lumped together

another 3 years of building thru trhe draft and Nix/ Gailey might finally match Jauron's 7-9 record -

they have 2 in Levitre and Wood - when healthy - which is not often Bell is marginal at best and is on the field even less often The ineptness of this OL as a unit is masked by the Bills running a pop gun offense all geared to Fitz getting the ball out in 2 seconds They can't run with authority when it matters in short yardage and they can't pass block for a downfield passing game The OL has progressed to the point where there are not jailbreaks on every play, but there is an awful low bar - but typical of the shortsighted homer where everything is wonderful at OBD -
Bills to be more aggressive in free agency
spartacus replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
if they lose Bell - they could do what they have done for most of the last decade - and pretend LT is overated and fill it with a has-been never was or street free agent and fail to carry a backup because even if the starter is an injury time bomb -

not sure if that loop is actually closed as Edwards is still on the payroll,as the savior Wanstash was last year -

a new stadium or expensive roof would definitely be worth the huge bucks for the 8 home games they would use it for can't think of a better use of taxpayer dollars -

5 of NFL starting caliber would be a start If Urbik was such a stud backup C- why did they first move Levitre there for the Dolphins game - a horror show I got to witness in person. -

Until proven othrwise, expect the stories to start of the Bills hot pursuit of big name free agents like Vincent Jackson, Mario Williams, etc with big offers being made oh - wait - here's one now http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/05/bills-rumored-to-have-interest-in-vincent-jackson/ although fully intending to sign such talent, other teams pulled of miracles to outbid the bills at the last minute - forcing the team to settle for some practice squad rejects instead we shall see if they actually ADD any talent -as opposed to continually spinning their wheels on the treadmill to nowhere smart move by Buddy to avoid adding any LBs, backup C or OTs last year with $20 mil in cap space the man is a genius in being able to have $30+ mil in cap space unused this year he can sleep easy without having to worry about who to re=structure or cut to free up cap space like the contending teams are doing this time of year many thanks to shills like PTR who help promote such successful management policies -

yeah - I can see how Buddy would get a total pass on busting with Maybin but made all the good picks in the draft the man is a god!!
