who knows how good Henne can be with good coaching Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco sure seemed to do OK after being written off in the pre-season. 30 other teams could have had Pennington - but Parcells got him because he Chad does not turn the ball over. The Bills have known since 1994 that they needed a new QB - we are still waiting

Channing Crowder...

we have 2 LB that are NFL caliber Ellison and Pizza boy don;t belong in the NFL we do need playmakers - but we also need some NFL caliber backups -
so help me out which drafted players are true impact playmakers on the Bills? difference makers, game changers, you have a hard time making an argument for more than 3-4 players - and none of them are really dominant players

now make a list of the players Ralph has given big money to in their 2nd contract off the top of my head Kelsey Schoebel Butler Williams note not on the list Jason Peters Pat Williams Nate CLements Antoine Winfield who else besides Evans and McGhee have been renewed with big money deals?

they would re-sign Fred if he was white. look at the high # of white players on the D and the disproportionate high salaries and tell me with a straight face that Ralph is not influenced by race in deciding who to draft, sign and pay

At this point the only thing that can save us
spartacus replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
unfortunately even with a blank check, the clown show at OBD would waste the money and overpay for pisspoor talent . Instead of Hutchinson or Steinback, the Bills pay the same money to Dockery who is good at taking up space and not much else. These guys don't know they have a pro bowl LT on their roster The bills talent level will not improve until Ralph is long gone and real football people replace the clown show. -
And with the 11th Pick in the 2009 NFL Draft
spartacus replied to Nightcrawler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
you must work for the Bills. get rid of a Pro Bowl at bargain basement prices and then try to replace him with a 3rd round rookie. why not spend the money on a pro bowl LT and use existing resources to build other weak areas. -
new uniforms would do the trick. uniforms need to be replaced anywhere - so no additional cost fans would spend more on the new merchandize than the old stuff - thus bringing in more money new uni's would create a buzz Dick could worship the new satanic goathead emblem sure to be rolled out with the new unis

that's the beauty of the bills model, no one is accountable Modrak supposedly is the talent evaluator but it's not his fault that the Bills rated POZ so far ahead of Harris that they traded a premium pick to move up. or that being tall made Hardy that much better a WR than Eddie Royal or Donnie Avery? who sets the priority that OL should be ignored at the top of the draft - Modrak or Dick. If Dick is setting priorities, he should not be allowed the free pass that his players are not good enough. If Modrak is responsible, he should be gone. The clown show at OBD will continue to baffle and amaze come draft day.

Is next year's schedule really a killer?
spartacus replied to Mr. T's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
just like Manning / Leaf with our crackerjack talent evalautors- we will end up the Leaf of the 2 -
you deserve Ralph Wilson.

but they have maintained continuity The Bills front office has been designed as a big teflon shield. no one person makes decisions, thus no one is accountable or responsible. The Bills generally have failed miserably at evaluating talent, college kids, pro free agents and their own talent. Modrak and Guy are the most visible, but what do you expect when Linda Bogdan is at a VP in your talent evaluation dept. Any ability to identify talent left with Dwight Adams

Consider for a moment this tactical move by RW
spartacus replied to GG's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
good point about the timing of the extension. Ralph locked up Dick early before he could win any playoff games and demand a bigger contract, or even move on as a free agent. People rag on players for tanking it after a contract year - the result is eerily similar to what happened to the bills in 2008 after Dick got his new contract. Fat, happy and lazy or just plain dumb -
why should he think otherwise?? the record speaks for itself no matter how incompetent the team, the fans always turn out. Ralph figured it out a long time ago- maximize profits by minimizing cash for coaches and big time players. Spin the fans any old croc and they will show up in droves.
-
that's why Brandon's time spinning the Marlins while it is the cheapest team in baseball is so valuable to Ralph. his game plan is to focus all hatred on Peters to divert attention from the DiCK

The History of Ralph Wilson's head coaching hires.
spartacus replied to 2003's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the new coach should be someone who has NFL coaching experience at the positional or coordinator level. Even more important, they need head coaching where they ran the entire operation and learned how to deal with more than just the x and o's. college head coaching experience will work if they have the pro experience as well. Kirk Ferentz is one guy who will probably be successful - including experience under Bellicheat as his OL coach. -
Marty teams are tough blue collar teams on both sides of the ball. 4 times he has taken teams with players that suffered under buffoons and had horrible records and almost immediately made them competitive by demanding discipline and accountability. I would worry about losing in the playoffs on a consistent basis before running a winner like Marty out of town.
-
The baseball choice was made by Brandon so he could leverage his expertise with the Marlins.

canning Polian was not about winning either. Ralph was getting retribution for brusied egos, but it sure wasn't about winning Super Bowls. If it was, he would have moved his daughter to some less conspicuous position, and kept the guy most responsibile for putting the Bills in the big game. But Ralph always undervalued the real difference makers and felt he could save money and replace Polian from within with similar results.

sure Russ= whatever you say one more year of experience and Dick will become a real HC

A Few Thoughts About The Game (and the season)

maybe he will bring Walt Corey as his DC. Walt did suck as DC and it was Marv who did not fire him
