  1. POZ is going into his 3rd season, which makes his lack of production in 2008 even more problematic. Since he is from Penn State, he probably just needs 5 or 8 years to get up to speed so he can be the great white hope OBD used muliple picks to acquire.
  2. john guy does no scouting during the season, so this the first time he sees these free agents. if they look good in shorts and interview well- they will get an offer
  3. This is how Russ feigns Buffalo's desire to improve the team through free agency. bring in lots of players start lots of rumors about players you might bring in make bogus offers, but sign very little fans get excited, but in end the team is worse than when they started. Hope, though, springs eternal in Bills nation
  4. that's what happens when the front office is wearing rose colored glasses and tryign to justify the Lynch pick when they had no other RBs on the roster too bad their talent evaluators had no clue how good Fred Jackson was - or they would not have felt boxed in to drafting Lynch.
  5. why would you assume that you have the same arrogant bunch making decisions to out-smart the rest of the NFL. it will be more non-sense as usual -- including ignoring the OL and instead taking a DB in the top 3 rounds.
  6. Ellison is the weak side LB he needs to be replaced
  7. when healthy, Kevin Jones is a better back than Lynch. Catches better Pass protects better hits the hole better knows the plays better is more explosive
  8. well that was the arrogance of TD- Fat Mike never played LT in his life - yet we spend the 4th in the draft on a project when a bona fide stud was still on the board. Fat Mike never played a down at LT for the Bills he was always a slow RT The Bills tried to justify the pick by claiming he would play LT- but only lip service
  9. This is true It is the basis of the Bills mindless moves each year. Create holes needlessly by cutting starters witout a plan to replace them. Use scarce resources to replace the lost player(s) with lesser talent - while ignoring other pre-existing holes. happens every year like clockwork. the team treads water and never improves. the treadmill to nowhere.
  10. soryy - not true many cited the pick as ill advised at the time. you never draft a RT at #4 when a LT is also there - especially when FAt Mike was known to have motivation and weight problems. RT does not support the huge salary of the #4 pick.
  11. only if they visit Modrak in Florida.
  12. a big part of Trent's problem was that the team forced hardy into the lineup and he couldn't figure out what a pattern was- let alone where he was supposed to be. Hardy running the wrong pattern is what started Trent on that 3 pick performance. He threw to the right spot and Hardy was somewhere else. A QB can't anticipate a WR when the WR is completely imcompetent. You get the same consistency with Parrish-
  13. that's because the Big 10 as a conference is a major fraud. Players such as Maybin compete against other overated slugs and thier performance is vastly inflated. A guy that played DE with his hand on the ground at 230 lb will not be successful in the NFL. He is too damm small - and will be a huge liability in the run game.
  14. you are correct- the Bills method of overpaying castoffs has worked so much better. If Donohoe wasn't so much smarter than everyone else, he would have drafted a real LT in McKinney with that #4 pick. just because Williams busted is no excuse to never draft another OL. The good teams do it and actually have some talent evaluators who can recognize who can play and who is a turd before spending top picks.
  15. or instead of constantly overpaying for other teams castoffs, the Bills could actually spend some premium picks on the OL and build with players who actually are talented enough to be NFL starters.
  16. if the clown show had realized Greer could play, they could have signed him last year and not wasted another 1st round pick on a nother CB. They could have drafted a stud lineman like Albert or Clady- who could have taken Dockery's slot this year.
  17. For the most part, you are correct. Well run teams, which the Bills are not, keep their good players. There are high end players who hit free agency because their perceived value exceeds the team's valuation. The Bills have let several of these players go - but will not pursue these players. Many middle of the road backups, like Hangman, become available because they are not good enough for the current team. It's great, Hangman will be better for the Bills than our current rostered C, but he was deemed by a well run team to be expendable, even for the modest amount it would take to sign him. After watching him block Kris Jenkins, they determined he was not their long term answer, so they drafted a better C and let him go as a free agent. They felt 2nd and 3rd year draft picks had more upside. Hangman fits great in Buffalo, because they have not had quality C play in 15 years so this guy will look like a big improvement. However, it does not mean he is good enough to provide quality C play against the big nose tackles in the AFC East. just because the Bills gave him a big contract suitable for a very good player does not make him one. It's just Dockery part 2.
  18. he must be really good because his dad is famous how hard can it possibly be to play OL in the NFL This is his 2nd year, he is ready to be a stud that 7th round draft slot was just a mirage and will have no bearing on his excellence. his only drawback for the Bills is that they were not able to convert him from TE like other studs like Matt Murphy
  19. probably we give up multiple picks for a 32 year old guy on the down side of his career AND pay him more going forward than what we were to pay Dockery just spend some picks on some young, healthy OL with upside who will come much cheaper
  20. The only thing "proven" about Scheffler is that he is constantly hurt. If you are going to spend a premium pick on a player, he better be healthy so he can concentrate on his on field production - and not about getting out of the trainers room
  21. Miami may not be interested at the money Coles wants But their tune would certainly change when you start talking about the money the Bills are willing to spend- which is a fare cry what Coles wants then they get very interested
  22. People get all hung up on heights and weights but really the only question that counts is "can a guy play football?" well- Carolina did not think so since they drafted Kalil to play C and let Hangman go when his contract expired. spare me all the crap about cap problems If he was a stud, they find a way to keep him. he was just a backup on a contender - but will be considered a svaior with a non-playoff team
  23. boy I'm impressed he knows how to get abused by a good nose tackle well that brings him up to speed with our C play from last year.
  24. if he was so indispensible, he would have been signed by Carolina. the fact that he was drafted in the 5th round goes to his perceived talent and ability when he was drafted - middle of the road. He was smart enough to hold down the fort at C, but not strong enough or dominate enough to earn a new contract with Carolina. He will likely perform to the same level of competence we have seen for the last 15 years at C. Of you think that is progress, then so be it. They still need to draft some top end OL in the draft each year to feed the pipeline. If they had spent even one top pick on an OL in the last 4 years, they would not have to reach in free agency to field an OL.
  25. Kendall Simmons would be another blind hope. a name people have heard of but seriously damaged goods. tearing an Achilles tendon is a huge injury, especially for a player who must use his legs to take on 350 lb monsters. Bills would be fools to rely on Simmons as the answer at LG. sign him for the upside, but you better have plan B ready to start on day 1.
